Maybe I'm not carved from the same metal as Texans from East Texas. Despite being an avid swimmer, I haven't yet warmed up to the idea of swimming in a lake where alligators have been sighted. But hey, to each their own! I've swam in the ocean many times. Sharks have been spotted there so maybe this is similar!? Just know that you can potentially knock "swimming with alligators" off of your bucket list by swimming at this lovely beach;). This beach park also includes gravel parking and four, nicely spaced shelters with picnic tables and grills, not a bad place to spend an afternoon or evening;)

Can't speak much on the staff bc we barely interacted with them, they seemed mostly unbothered and nonchalant. We rent a screened shelter for 2 nights, Fri - Sunday. We actually got the last open shelter for the weekend, so we got lucky! We stayed in section 9. Very pretty area. Most of our fellow campers were courteous, although on our first night we heard music blaring from another part of section 9. For us to be able to hear it from where we were, they must have been LOUD so I can only imagine how their actual neighbors felt. And even though quiet hours are at 10, this music went on until probably around 11:30ish range. I also heard screaming and very loud laughing. Sounded like teenagers maybe. Remember people.... We all came out here to enjoy nature. Be courteous if you're sharing the space with other campers. Leave no trace ALSO includes noise pollution. It's ok to play some music and have a good time - I know I did! But I kept my music very low, and made sure to keep my voice down or at least not at such a volume that I could be heard across the camp ground. Anyway aside from that we had a wonderful time. The shelter was clean, the surrounding area was free of litter. We hiked, swam, made campsites, cooked, played games, rested in the grass, and had a grand time. I'd have to put this park up there on my list of top 5 parks. It's has everything! It definitely gave me *summer camp* vibes. The only thing I probably wouldn't recommend is the boat rentals. They are quite pricey. If you can swing it, bring your own!

What's really great about Tyler State Park is that it is not too far off of I-20 and the heart of downtown Tyler. It's actually kind of mesmerizing how close this preserved state park is from the city and how many people don't take that quick drive on a spring day. There's plenty of hiking to do on the almost one thousand acres of land. My girlfriend and I hiked the B Loop hiking trail, which is a little over 3 miles and was a very easy adventure for us. I wanted us to do more, but our legs were tired, so we called it there. Instead, we went to the Northside Day-Use Area to get our feet in the water and enjoy the view of the lake. Very good RV park. The sites are nice. Not paved but still very good. Small gravel makes it easy to level. Picnic table at each site is on concrete slab. Full hook-ups. When we got there and were hooking up a member of the staff drove by our site and called us by name and asked if we were doing ok. Great service! Very nice large pool. It's open 9:30a-9:30p. They have a volleyball net and basketball hoop so you can play in the pool. Park is pretty large. There is a pond out back where you can go fishing. They have cabins available and a few have good sized decks that overlook the pond. Nice tent area with covered picnic tables and electrical outlet. Would like to have seen grills at each site. Cabins and tent sites seem to have them, but RVers like to BBQ, too. Also some recycling bins would be good. We pulled in after dark and the entrance was not very well lit and there were a lot of cars due to an event in the Rec Center so it was hard to see where we were supposed to park to check in. It is a very scenic place with a nice pool and a pond if you like to fish or just watch the moon rise. We booked in advance and we looked forward to our one night stay in Caddo Mills, but when it was time to leave, we wish we could have stayed several days longer.

This was my first visit, so I can only speak from my own experience, but I left feeling refreshed. If you're a nature lover, you'll probably fall in love with this place. There are beautiful ponds, towering trees, plenty of birds, and gorgeous scenery everywhere you look. I visited in July, and despite the humidity, I was pleasantly surprised by the almost complete lack of mosquitoes. One thing to know: the atmosphere depends heavily on the weather. My first two days were rainy, so there were only a handful of guests. Personally, I loved it because I was looking for peace and quiet. If you're hoping for a livelier social scene, check the forecast before booking. From my experience, weekdays are generally slower, while weekends are where the energy picks up. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and had excellent A/C--which you'll definitely appreciate in the summer. Service deserves a special shoutout. The owners and staff were incredibly responsive; anything I needed (within reason) was just a text away and handled quickly. My accommodations included a small cooking range, but the cookware was fairly minimal. The café kitchen was happy to provide extra items when needed, but I'd recommend sticking to simple one-pot meals. The mini fridge also fills up quickly, so pack accordingly. The food was genuinely delicious, but it's only open on weekends, so plan ahead if you're visiting during the week. * Nearby towns aren't far away, but delivery options are limited and can get expensive. * Wi-Fi is only available around the common areas, although cell service was surprisingly reliable. * Bring comfortable shoes if you plan to explore beyond the pool deck. * There are complimentary canoes available for the main pond, which made for a relaxing afternoon. One piece of personal advice: don't come trying to impress anyone. Come with an open mind, an open heart, and be unapologetically yourself. That's when this place really shines. I would advise providing a mirror at least in the room since there isn't a bathroom. Also, think about printing out a visual map of the property so people can explore on their own and find their way back easier (I can do this for you if you like). The dock at the lake/pond was beautiful and people were fishing and kayaking. All in all a nice little excursion out of the city with "family"!
