Later that day they gave us a courtesy call to let us know that some storms were coming in and if we were coming in from the west we'd be hitting some significant rain. Pretty nice. Very good RV park. The sites are nice. Not paved but still very good. Small gravel makes it easy to level. Picnic table at each site is on concrete slab. Full hook-ups. When we got there and were hooking up a member of the staff drove by our site and called us by name and asked if we were doing ok. Great service! Very nice large pool. It's open 9:30a-9:30p. They have a volleyball net and basketball hoop so you can play in the pool. Park is pretty large. There is a pond out back where you can go fishing. They have cabins available and a few have good sized decks that overlook the pond. Nice tent area with covered picnic tables and electrical outlet. Would like to have seen grills at each site. Cabins and tent sites seem to have them, but RVers like to BBQ, too. Also some recycling bins would be good. We pulled in after dark and the entrance was not very well lit and there were a lot of cars due to an event in the Rec Center so it was hard to see where we were supposed to park to check in. We found this to be a very nice campground, beautifully maintained, quiet and peaceful, staffed by friendly and gracious people. It is a very scenic place with a nice pool and a pond if you like to fish or just watch the moon rise. We are tent campers, and were happy to see that there was some shelter from the hot Texas sun along with close water and power. We booked in advance and we looked forward to our one night stay in Caddo Mills, but when it was time to leave, we wish we could have stayed several days longer.

The state park had multiple clean restroom facilities with water fountains and places to fill bottles. I enjoyed a 14 mile trail run, looping each trail several times. Multiple trails offer lakefront views. The park is open early (6 AM) all the way til 10 PM with self-pay options for entering. At just $5 to enter, it's a real bargain to get outside and get your dose of nature in. There were minimal pests (bugs) throughout the park (unlike my last trip to Broken Bow!), and I must have seen at least 20 deer in the 3ish hour period I was there. It's not Colorado or anything, but for being so close to Dallas it's a perfect retreat. The park staff was very friendly, along with all the locals I encountered on the trails!

They look to have a picnic table and a fire pit. There are some good walking trails, and the fishing is supposed to be good. Some trophy sized bass have been taken from this lake. The staff was helpful and very informed. They have a full boat ramp and a cleaning station. The showers need to be updated in the mens room as they do not drain properly. A fishing pier would be a nice addition as unless you have a boat, you have to fish from shore, and there are not many spots to do so. It is a really nice state park is you are near Dallas.

It was only five dollars a person to get in for the day. The main office was very clean and organized and the bathrooms were clean and we also purchased a few keepsakes. I am not an RVer but they have lots of nice shady spots. Some that are pull through and some you have to back into. It looked like all of the spots had a gazebo type cover. They also have cabins you can rent out; some thing my wife and I discussed for the future. It was very quiet and covered in a lot of trees and seemed like a very nice place to camp. As we drove out, we had the unexpected surprise of seeing 3 deer in one spot and two more in another.

Based on this second experience at Cooper Lake State Park - South Sulfur Unit, I HIGHLY recommend an overnight cabin stay! **Cabins can be booked a maximum of three months in advance.** Equipped with full restrooms including powerful, hot showers, two full beds (must bring own linens for all needs), a futon, 4-top table and chairs, 3/4 fridge/freezer combo, drip coffee maker, stove top with two heating elements, AC and heat, a back balcony with grill and picnic table, and a lakeside fire pit, we wanted for NOTHING and ENJOYED IT ALL!

If we would have stayed here first, we would have NEVER bought it. The first tell-tell sign should have been the torn and thrashed sign that once said thousand trails. (Should have took a picture of it) It is a great representation of how much pride they have there! The 'club house' if that's what you want to call it, was run down, didn't have much in it and the things that were there, were broken. I tried to discuss this with management, but to my surprise they didn't have any! I reached out to corporate and after several attempts with week long delays between my replies, they too had a very similar not-give-a-care attitude. Just keep driving, you'll be grateful you didn't stay here.

The views of the lake changed from sunrise to sunset and created a feeling of peace. The park has two pools and lodges with special weekend activities for children. There are short trails on one side of park through pretty forested areas. The roads within the campsites are a bit rough but not so bad that it will rattle your RV too much. Staff is friendly at check in and helpful.

The people running the campground were friendly and helpful. The only thing that was inconvenient was the distance to the water spigot from our rig (approx. 40ft, thankfully we had an extra hose) and there is no sewer access at individual spots. There are however a few stations within the campground to use before you leave. There were also a lot of people with young children, younger adults partying, and the occasional car going through with loud music blaring but for the most part everyone seemed to respect the quiet hours (after 10pm.) Overall, I am happy with our decision to spend a few days here and would do it again!
