This year, a sewer line in the lake broke meaning no running water. After several calls, Brandon had no alternative place for our family to stay. We ended up in a hotel with bags and boxes all around us. We paid for that experience on top of the house rental. He only returned our money for the house after several more phone calls and several more days. The agreed upon morning we left Tahoe and returned to the house to pick up the last of our belongings in the garage, he had his cleaning lady there on the phone to him telling us we had to leave. We told her she could start cleaning and that we would be out of there ASAP. But Brandon called my husband to tell him to hurry and get out. We were easily going to be out before the 11:00 deadline. Why be so unkind if the house had no running water and was unable to be used? RUN, do not walk away from Brandon. He is disreputable. As an update: Brandon messaged my husband to call me a liar about this review. (There were 5 adults on our trip who experienced this.) His unprofessionalism in texting us after what we went through because his feelings were hurt by reading an honest review, just makes my point even stronger. Second update: 8 days after getting home, Brandon is still calling me a liar. Please do read other recent reviews. One on Birdeye just 3 months ago, describes Brandon's response to renters in a situation they had no control of and his follow up contact after reading their reviews which was described as "aggressive and disrespectful." Brandon gets very few details right of this bigger picture he creates below 1. We were not met at the front door when we returned from our day around the lake. There was a team of Douglas county workers out back. They DID NOT say that the damage was solely due to lake levels and DID NOT say that it hadn't been repaired because of lake levels. They were concerned with fixing the line at all (although other properties were able to be fixed that DO NOT share this same wall) because the sea wall at this property was not built properly nor being repaired in the proper way, According to the professionals, the cost of doing it correctly was a point of contention. Douglas county couldn't cough up the ten grand and the owner wasn't either. The line would continue to break each time the waves got rough. One worker commented, "I can't believe they rented this place out." 2. We did not store ALL of our belongings in the garage. We spent 2 days cleaning out the house of 2/3 of our belongings which we crammed into 2 hotel rooms for 5 people. Only the things we couldn't fit stayed in the garage because we couldn't afford another room and Brandon was not interested in covering any of the costs of our move. As no one could use the property, this wasn't an inconvenience to anyone While my husband and I moved belongings and threw away the food and meals we had bought and prepared, my son used the wi-fi to take his online college course. The hotel only had an unsecure connection. We only left some supplements and medicine in the fridge until our departure day. We did not use the fridge other than storage. We had wanted to use the Marla Bay beach to at least be able to swim in the lake, but the codes were changed. My husband *had* asked to sit on the back porch, but everything was a negotiation (nothing was done with kindness) and the house was just a reminder of how awful the trip had turned out. We didn't do that either. 3. We DID NOT stay there for 5 uninterrupted nights before the line broke. It was 4 (details should be accurate) and included , as it has every year, cleaning bathrooms, dishes, utensils, and glasses. To think that including the cleaning deposit in the refund we waited 8 days for was some act of benevolence is laughable. 4. He did print my husband a check. I guess he can celebrate that truth. It was the day before we left and he had tried to postpone the meeting twice because he's busy. He threw an unfeeling "sorry" over his shoulder as my husband left. We cashed the check that day because of our experience. We have never been treated with the indifference that Brandon showed us. We have been staying in Tahoe for 20 years. Sixteen of those years were with other agencies. We know Tahoe is wonderful. We know what other agencies are capable of just as we now see what Brandon is capable of. I'm sure he'll send my husband another text. If Brandon had spent the time and energy to take care of his renters that he has spent responding to bad reviews, he may not get bad reviews. BTW. The helpful score below is from my friends who know me to tell the truth.

Visited in April so pool wasn't open but if visiting Tahoe in the summer, you'd be making a big mistake by not renting this house. The outdoor pool overlooking the lake is spectacular. Tony (the caretaker/landlord) is the man! Check-in was super easy and Tony was extremely flexible meeting us at the house for check-in and showing us the ropes. Tony was easygoing, friendly and really wanted to ensure everyone had a great time (we did). I would highly recommend this house for any large groups, but especially bachelor/bachelorette parties. Would also be more than suitable for family reunions, business meetings, etc., etc., etc. We were a group of eleven guys visiting for a bachelor party and everyone raved about the house. Other houses I've rented on VRBO have been super uptight about leaving the house absolutely spotless but Tony made check-out easy and reasonable. Took an hour on the morning of checkout to pick up and take out garbage and that was that. Additional bonuses include WiFi that works! And there are two WiFi networks so the entire house/property is covered wherever you go. It was also great to have two living/sleeping spaces separate from the main house (pool house and billiards room). If anyone in your party needs some peace and quiet or privacy, they can easily be accommodated. Overall, had an amazing time in Tahoe and spent a lot of time at the house just hanging with friends and taking in the spectacular views! And don't forget, Tony is reasonable and cares about your group enjoying themselves to the max. Thanks for a great time!

All of the stunning views and scenery gave for some pretty epic and gorgeous photos to capture our big day. Josh and Blue Sky Events worked together to make everything run seamlessly the day of our wedding; even when the heater broke on the tent during the rehearsal dinner and the caterer's generator died before our food could be made the day of the wedding. Josh was there doing everything in his power to make things work and make our day great. He was clear on what rules needed to be minded and checked in with us throughout the weekend to make sure we had what we needed. He was always making sure everyone was having a good time and was a great person to hang out with too. Most wedding venues in Lake Tahoe make you use their caterers, don't let you do unique things like bring a late night munchie food truck or anything outside of their own packages and for some people that's great but for us, we wanted flexibility and Fjeldheim allowed that for us so we could have a day that was perfectly us.

If you're looking to spend a lovely couple of days in Lake Tahoe and need a place to stay, this is the place for you! Talk about paradise; look no further. Tahoe Mountain Home is a 9,000 square foot private vacation home that can house 30+ people easily. Sitting high above the lake, this property offers awesome views overlooking the lake. I recently came over the weekend with a group of friends and was able to discover all that this property has to offer. The house offered over eight bedrooms and sleeping for the entire guest, all the rooms come with their own name; honestly, I felt like I was in a mansion! My mouth dropped as I drove up the one-way hill to get to the house, the place is HUGE! There were different access ways to the entrance, a fabulous hot tub in the back of the house that fits 4-5 people comfortably and a big parking lot that fits over 10 cars easily. This place is exceptional! The house is located 5-10 minutes from all of the fun entertainment including the casinos, restaurants, and bars and lounges. We took Uber every night and didn't have an issue at all. Now, on to the BEST part, it was SNOWING the WHOLE.WEEKEND. I have yet to experience snow before, so this was not only fun for me but exciting! Now, driving in the snow was not exciting at all, trust me, but playing in it was FUN. On the last night of our stay, we received emails and news reports that there was a blizzard coming and that we may be snowed in. Okay, I became scared once I received the news, but that quickly changed when we had the housing manager come over. Josh is the 'housing manager' and the night I became very anxious about the snowstorm, he came over with his lovely dog and informed our group that we were going to be Okay. He discussed the weather and even asked all of us for our car keys while he plowed the driveway so we can leave much easier to leave for the next-day departure. Can you believe that he moved all 10 cars and plowed the driveway all by himself? OMG, bless his heart! After Josh left, my group advised me that Josh is a wonderful guy that comes throughout our visit to check in with us. I was so touched by the personal touch. This property, as well as Josh, deserves MORE than 5 stars! Yelp, we really have to work on expanding the 5 stars (emoji: smiles). I definitely would recommend staying at this property. I look forward to my next stay. Thank you, Josh, for your amazing hospitality during our stay!

In 2025, we used RnR for the first time. Overall, we had a good experience in unit #476. The rental unit was very nice but the carpets needed cleaning and I said as much when we were there and subsequently, in a review for RnR's website. Oddly, I thought, the review was not posted. For 2026, I decided to try a different unit because of the carpets. We rented unit #476. 476 was a relative disaster compared to 480. There was no porch light and that's required when it's fairly dark at night. RnR replaced it and a broken floor fan after I mentioned they weren't working. But the main issue, again, were the carpets. To say they were disgusting would be kind. They were filthy. So much so, that they turned the bottom of our feet black. RnR's initial response was to get the unit owner to clean the carpets. It's the same excuse they they used the prior year. They're the property manager! They shouldn't need permission for ordinary maintenance. Did they need permission to replace the light bulb? No! After two nights, the coffee maker crapped out. They said they would replace that but did not. That's three mornings without one of their amenities. The unit had other ordinary maintenance issues overlooked by RnR (see pictures). I kept complaining about the carpets, because they were that bad. RnR updated their response and said they would work with the unit owner to replace the carpets. The carpets were so bad, that I had to believe that someone would have had to mention it in a review and I missed reading it. But nearly every review published is a 5 star, glowing review. They were a very few 4 star reviews. The reviews would have no complaints. And it dawned on me why my review from the previous year was not published on their website. I had complained about unit 476's carpets. No complaints are published. It also dawned on me that every unit on RnR's website has a 5 star review. Why? Because RnR must average out all the published reviews. Since they basically only publish 5 star reviews, the units will all average 5 stars. Unit 480 WAS NOT a 5 star unit. RnR's web site unit advertising IS MISLEADING. They may be allowed to post the reviews they want, but they shouldn't be able to create their own rating system based only on the reviews that they prefer. I was led to believe that unit 480 was a spectacularly maintained unit. IT WAS NOT. No type of compensation for having a unit that was not as advertised was offered. For $450 a night, I don't expect to spend my time with my family amid filth that Is immensely embarrassing to pass off as resort living. I'm done with their deception and my opinion is that you shouldn't be surprised when you rent one of their units and it is not like what was advertised by RnR.

The water is crystal clear and the sand is not too rocky. Since it's private, the beach is usually less crowded than the public beaches on the California side. "Usually" less crowded. We happened to go on the day of Carson (City, NV) High's senior class graduation party. So the beach was almost full of loud, music-blasting, fun-seeking high school grads, with more arriving by car as the day went on. We found a more secluded spot away from the party, but other groups also had music blasting, this time in Spanish. It's an enjoyable family beach, but not too much shade, so bring beach umbrellas. Also bring your own blankets and picnic lunches and non-alcoholic drinks. Sorry, we didn't stay long enough to review the rest rooms.

Great Day on Lake Tahoe, But Know the Rules & How to Navigate!…read more Open: Sunrise to sunset Parking: $12/car, with plenty of parking throughout the complex. Restrooms: Porta-potties plus 3-stall restrooms for each gender. Zephyr Cove Resort is a solid spot if you want to rent water activities on the South Lake Tahoe side. They offer power boat rentals, parasailing, jet skis, SUPs, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrellas, ice, wakeboards, and more. Rentals are weather permitting. You must be 18+ to rent, or 16+ with a valid photo ID to operate a personal watercraft. We rented a 24' Crest Pontoon OB for our group. The boat holds up to 13 people or 2,397 lbs. Since we had 14 people, we had to be weighed before departure. We booked the 3-hour rental with the 4th hour free for $925 + fuel. The power boat came with a tubing. Our total ended up being $1,248 as of June 2026. Before departure, everyone signs an electronic waiver, which serves as the contract agreement with the company. Boat operation: The boat itself was relatively easy to operate, pretty much like driving an automatic car. The more important part is knowing how to navigate the lake and read the maps. Your crew needs to designate a captain and co-captain. They are responsible for learning how the boat operates, making sure everyone follows the rules, including wearing life jackets, and checking the boat's condition before departure and after returning. Emerald Bay was our favorite swimming spot. There were plenty of people kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing, and boating around the area. The water was lukewarm and crystal clear, and the scenery was gorgeous. We also got lucky with beautiful blue skies that day. One thing to REALLY pay attention to: life jackets are required whenever you're in the water. There was an active boat patrol on the lake, and our boat was stopped because one of our friends forgot to wear a life jacket while tubing. The captain received the fine because he's responsible for enforcing the rules. Interestingly, the fine depends on which side of the lake you're on. We were told that a ticket on the Nevada side is around $25-$100, while on the California side it can be around $87-$250. Lesson learned! Navigation back to Zephyr Cove was probably the most challenging part. The venue doesn't have a particularly high-visibility landmark or tower, so finding our way back wasn't as intuitive as we expected. We ended up using our Strava app to help navigate because Google Maps seemed to lag/delay. Returning the boat itself was easy, but docking/parking it back was another story. Staff wanted us to park parallel in a specific spot, and it took us three attempts. Each attempt failed, so we had to circle around and try again. Definitely a little stressful after several hours on the lake! Overall, though, we had a really fun day on Lake Tahoe. The boat was easy to operate, Emerald Bay was beautiful, and having our own pontoon gave our group a lot of freedom to explore and swim. Solid option for renting a boat or other water activities around South Lake Tahoe. Just make sure everyone understands the life-jacket rules, and be prepared for a little adventure when navigating back and docking.
