This was, by far, the worst hotel experience I've ever had…read more During my stay, when sitting in my room, I detected a rotten sulfur-like stench. I was concerned what it could be, so I informed the front desk. I started feeling light-headed as a result, so I sat down in the lobby. Almost half an hour after reporting this, I tried going back up again. However, as soon as the elevator door opened, I was immediately struck by an incredibly strong smell, and it was impossible to breathe. I went back down and told the front desk again, but they hadn't looked into it. I was unable to stay in my room this whole time. I warned them about the urgency several times (it could have been a gas leak, and it was causing me to feel lightheaded being up there even briefly, so it seemed dangerous), but they remained unconcerned. My partner came to pick me up, and she confirmed that the smell was unbearable and that something was wrong. I left the property immediately in fear, and remained lightheaded for several hours afterwards. The experience doesn't end there. We raised this concern with the general manager of the hotel. He apologized for the incident, but said it wasn't their fault. Maybe the original issue wasn't the hotel's fault, but their negligence in handling the issue certainly was, leaving me in the lobby with no idea what was going on for over half an hour. He offered some reward points as compensation, but it was an unreasonably low amount, given the severity of the experience. We requested more points, and he promised he would get back to us after the weekend. He did *not* get back to us after the weekend. In fact, we called and sent a few emails after then, and he ghosted us for almost a month. As a result, we contacted Marriott group again, and he finally got back to us. However, he simply said the situation had already been resolved (despite his promise of getting back to us). He was ignoring us since he claimed he had "more pressing matters" to deal with. Finally, he wished us a good weekend and rudely hung up on us. To pre-empt some comments. First, we said that we would post our complaints publicly. He said that he would instruct his social media team to say we were being "unfriendly." Obviously, we would disagree. But this is our word against his, and there's really no way for you (the reader) to know who's in the right. Nonetheless, it seems unprofessional to threaten this to a guest. Secondly, a reader may wonder if we had already gotten enough points, and were just getting greedy. Again, I don't think so. But even putting these two matters (which may be subjective) aside, I think that either of the following two points are completely unacceptable for any organization in the hospitality industry: a) To ignore a guest's urgent concerns during their stay, when they have come to you many times, and are sitting there in the lobby waiting for a response, b) To promise to get back to an unsatisfied guest, subsequently not do so, and then ignore their messages for the following month. Would strongly recommend against staying at this property.

I spent the extra $10 a night for a jacuzzi in my room. The room was $129/night. The bed was comfy and I slept well. There was a mini fridge and microwave oven in my room. Parking was free as is WIFI (it's fast). There was a complimentary continental breakfast with hot options (I grab some yogurt and an apple to go in the mornings). There is a salt water pool but I didn't use it. There is no restaurant in the hotel and no options within walking distance. Last evening there was a reception ... free appies and drinks from 6pm to 8pm. It happens Monday to Thursday evenings. I checked it out. They set out bottles of wine, beer and pop along with veggies, chicken wings and pepperoni pizza (which I'm assuming they ordered from a nearby pizza place) and you helped yourself. I had enough wings and pizza that I didn't need to have supper (I'd had a big lunch). I liked the hotel, my room and the friendliness of the staff but I found it was a bit too isolated.

This time, after 2 years of covid coming back, figured I'd get a cute little Airbnb close to my family's house. Close it was and disaster it was! They came in 7-8 times to the unit in 12-14 hours of me being there. Unannounced, unauthorized! It was that crazy. Long story short, Airbnb got me out ( luckily after 4 -9 calls/ emails) and put me here. Not much was available. And I appreciate this so much more! Walking in here albeit it was late/ after a stressful day, this was such a haven. The front doors don't slide open at night due to homeless, they have to buzz you in! That threw me off a little like ok where am I!?! But I guess most cities/ downtown's having this problem right now. They have stuff shortage like everywhere else, so check in was just check in. You can get their luggage carts yourself, load and or park and load. The receptionist ( Meagan I believe) was super nice to let me park out to load/ check in first. Then go park underground. So much better that way. The room was super spacious. Kitchenette was super clean, bathroom was nice. Even the kind bed was comfy. Could look a little more better if they tuck in/ do a better bed prep. But! It was a ok without it :) They had breakfast every morning ( or my room came with it). I didn't make it most days (4 days) only because I don't eat breakfast. But I made it in for coffee which was available all day. Even decaf! They also had a happy hour thing/ Thursday 4-6:30 I believe. Some cheeses, drinks etc even some tacos. I went for juice and coffee. Still great. Overall , it was very empty during my stay. The gym was small but clean. The Hammer! Downtown Hammer/ Hamilton is busy/ but empty. It's a nice change. But perfect escape from my nightmare Airbnb! I don't know If I would like this place as much if book and check in here without Airbnb disaster. But I definitely appreciated my stay here! Only if they weren't so expensive though. I stayed in Park Hyatt Toronto after this. Thought about coming back but the prices here are pretty high. Not as high as Park Hyatt Toronto but almost as much as Hyatt Regency Toronto. The rooms have a wee kitchenette which is great for snacks. We had the pool to ourselves at 7pm on a Saturday:) There is no restaurant for dinner so you have to plan for that, we drove to a nearby Kelsey's which was good too!! The self serve breakfast had lots of good options:)) Again clean, fresh and great service:)

I had to take a couple of work meetings, and found the internet to be a little slow/choppy. But other than that it was a comfortable stay. The Starbucks in the lobby was helpful, and the location is super walkable, right in the heart of downtown Hamilton. The complimentary water bottles were super useful and a nice touch. They had a nice terrace and held a low-key viewing event for the eclipse. All-in-all we had the perfect little weekend getaway thanks to the Sheraton!

Room is standard and dated. Decor and layout is typical to Sheraton brand. Nothing too fancy but adequate for a short stay. Hotel is connected to Jackson Square and the bus terminal is right across the street. FYI: Go Bus serving YYZ and towards Richmond Hill has a stop in front of the hotel.

As we walked in at around 8pm there was mayhem. Apparently a hockey tournament was staying there. Tons of kids running around screaming by and the parents were not that much better. We assumed we would get a quieter spot and couldn't wait to get out of the lobby and elevator. But ok and behold our floor was even worse. Doors slamming kids screaming. Parents banging on doors. Now I get it. It is a fun time. But we don't have to be in the middle of it with a baby. So I went downstairs and eventually we got a room on the office floor and some breakfast vouchers and a few drink tickets. By this time it was 9:30 or so and our little one was exhausted. And even though we were assured and called months in advance. A crib was in neither room yet. So the manager was very nice and helped. Even brought the crib herself. But if you knew about both (baby and tourney). Why put us in the middle of it. And make us ask to change. In the end it worked out and was not a bad place to stay. Breakfast was decent and had variety. Staff like us were beaten down by the tournament. There is a pool. We didn't see it. Also. We were overcharged and had to try to get our original price to be charged. Another pain. So what may have been a 3.5 stars is now back to a solid 3. Although, I would encourage the staff to maybe know a bit more in terms of what to do. Trails can get boring everyday and reading in a lobby isn't much of a "fun" option for me. The room itself was your basic room with two beds. They do have sleep number beds (although on bed wasn't working- not a good look!) The one that did was fun to play around with and see what numbers you enjoyed. Just a heads up: It may take a few nights for you to figure that out. I've come to learn I don't like soft mattresses as much as I thought! My two issues with the room were the things that took away that 5th star. The toilet didn't flush properly. It was quite irritating to literally hold the handle down until you see the water go down because if you didn't, it wouldn't flush. The pillows aren't your average length pillows, they reminded me more of couch cushions. I found myself constantly falling of the pillow whenever I would switch positions. That doesn't make for a good sleep at all. Other then those two complaints, it was a good stay and I would visit again. Maybe with my pillow in hand next time though.

Our shower also leaked and you could hear water dripping when using the sink as well. Rooms need more maintenance. We also found the front desk to be unmanned quite often, for long periods of time which was frustrating and somewhat concerning from a security stand point. This place has potential, just needs better cleaning, better maintenance and consistent staff at the front.

Heading towards elevators was nice, esthetics and all. Got to our first room, open the curtains and I saw nasty bits of ashes or something and a dead bug by the window. On top of that, view was probably an air conditioner. Ew and nope. So, we got another room. We came armed with gloves, Lysol wipes, Lysol spray and 99% isopropyl alcohol. After wiping and spraying everything, we felt close to being comfortable and relaxed. But, I must say my kids found a bottle of lube side of the sofa. OMG. Would I return or recommend this hotel? No.
