It is nestled right outside the Castellina In Chianti little town and makes an excellent base for hopping around the Tuscan part of the Italian boot. We stayed in a very quaint room. I felt like I was a guest in the Italian version of Downton abbey or Titanic. Our room furnishings were intricate and charming. The hotel has many rooms like a wine tasting room, a breakfast room, a reading room, a terrace. It's quite the ornate place! It simply feels like an experience from another time. I love vintage things and this was totally up my alley! The breakfast buffet is just exquisite. So many savory and sweet options, lovely regional cheeses and salami. The morning cappuccinos make you feel truly spoiled! We loved eating breakfast and looking out into the Tuscan country side (heart eyes for days ) Franco, Nicoletta and the rest of the staff are simply fabulous. Always greeting you and smiling. They make you genuinely feel welcomed and loved. they are such a sweet picture of Italian hospitality. Also the hotel is so clean. For being an older home, I was so impressed with the spotless, immaculate furniture, floors, and bathroom. Also the water pressure is so very nice! We hope to be back!

If you are into photography, its a great place to photograph this historic landmark under different lighting as the evening turns to night. The location was very central and the staff very helpful and friendly. There was one incident in particular that impressed me. I arrived in the morning well before check-in time and asked to store my luggage at the hotel and do a quick trip to the leaning tower of Pisa before checking in. I took my luggage to the storage room with the help of the porter and in my hurry, had accidently left a little case with all of our passports and more than 2,000 Euros in cash on one of the shelfs. The highly professional and conscientious porter found it and turned it over to the front desk. What honesty!! The staff was extremely accommodating, including the general manager who took the time to personally make himself available when requested by me. Five stars? I would give this place 10.

I'm so glad I made the decision to stay at Relais, because it was a great choice. The location was perfect!!!! Even though the building itself was very small, the rooms were big! The reception was amazing! The cleaning lady came everyday to clean and change towels and sheets. While I was living in the best location possible, many tourists were travelling to get to the area I was living in. You can see everything from the windows of the bedroom! You walk out of the building and H&M is the stores down. Chanel is right across from the front door. There's many good restaurants and everything is within walking distance, and when I mean walking distance I mean two steps out the front door and you're in the center of everything! I will definitely be staying here again and again!

She announced distance and directions which we reflected back to ensure understanding. We clearly asked about crossing the bridge to which she said again, "no, do not cross the bridge" and it was less than 1.5 km, exit this hotel and turn left. We followed her directions and walked for nearly 30 mins on a busy highway. We ended up stopping at a later night burger place whom assisted us in calling a cab. The cab driver took us the opposite direction, where we came from, and took us ACROSS the bridge we asked about. We learned that our intended hotel location was actually less than 0.5 km and just across the river from Hotel River. Perhaps the receptionist has poor sense of direction or perhaps we should not have asked about a competitor. Reduced stars for lack of service , even if we were not actual customers (this time). Every hotel I've been to has a map of the area to assist tourist and none was offered. 1 star for the look of the hotel- cute, very chic in black and white, and lacquered accents.

My fiance and I went on the…read moreChianti Classico tour, which stopped in Greve and at two incredible wineries -- Vallone di Cecione (incredible small family run, super intimate) and Savignola (medium-sized, trendier). Vallone di Cecione in particular was incredibly unique and special. The views were also breathtaking. We ended the day with an incredible home-made lunch overlooking the Tuscan Hills. It was the most charming, personal, and thoughtfully-arranged wine tour either of us has ever been on. Azzurra is so warm, passionate and knowledgeable about winemaking and the winemaking process, and makes you feel like family. We learned so much from her in just one day and walked away from the experience full and happy, with an incredible new friend. Seriously, if you do one thing during your trip to Florence, do this tour. You will not regret it. Thank you Azzurra and Viaggi d'Ambra. We love you guys and will absolutely be back.

Christian picked us up right by our hotel, we were staying at the Alta Duomo in Siena. He was friendly, knowledgable, and we felt very comfortable. The highlight of the trip was when Christian took us for a tour of the Altiero Winery. At this winery, we had paid extra to have a home-cooked lunch in the winery's owners home. It was the best meal we have ever tasted. We still talk about it to this day! Along with a few bottles of their delicious wine, we also were able to buys a couple liters of the freshly pressed olive oil. So delicious and almost a fluorescent green color due to the freshness of the olives. I STRONGLY recommend a tour by Christian. This was the highlight of our trip to Tuscany and we will never forget it! Price was about 450 euro for a private all day including lunch for the two of us. WELL worth the money spent. Make sure you do the lunch option as well.

A 14th century palazzo with several apartments available for rent for vacation stays. Besides the fact that it is extremely representative of the city. Each apartment has a kitchen angle, free wifi and a unique layout. Lots of antique furniture and interesting pieces. Plus the service is what makes them stand out. They go out of their way for guests and even do a little special something for those celebrating a birthday or anniversary. They also can help with artisan tours, and other various local suggestions on where to eat and what to visit. the price range is great and the surrounding neighborhood is one of the best in the city. The location of the residence was ideal in that all major attractions in the city were within a 15 minute walk but the nearby surrounding area was quiet with good restaurants and cafés. The best part of our stay however was the staff. Above and beyond help and assistance with any questions or concerns we had. The head of staff Federico truly cared about our stay and made sure out stay was enjoyable. Highly recommend this place if staying in Florence!
