The selection of stores, cafes, and markets here is fantastic--you can easily kill an hour shopping or grabbing a great bite to eat while waiting for a departure. Just a heads-up: give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your train. The platforms here are incredibly long, and if your train is assigned to one of the regional tracks or a high-speed engine waiting far down the line, it can be a massive, unexpected walk to get to your carriage. Keep your eyes on the departure boards and don't linger at the shops too long.

The uber pickup area is a little hard to find, through a nondescript hallway, but getting an Uber worked pretty easily for us. In the past I've had no issues getting cabs as well - at least not no more issue than anywhere else in Rome.

So, for the last half hour of the trip, the passengers would have to switch to a bus. Fine, seems manageable. But, as it turns out, they don't have enough busses to actually transport people to the final destination for which they paid the ticket. (Shocking, I'm sure.) The next bus would be available at 14:30. There is little point to saying anything else. This is more than enough to demonstrate the ineptitude of this company. Even if the various "strikes" they carry out throughout the year were to have an impact and improve the conditions for the workers, the service would still be awful.

Inside the station, one tv screen shows in the lobby displays arrivals and the other tv displays departures. The station is clean, simple, and efficient. The Trenitalia app is bad. There is an office but no one is available to assist with difficult-to-understand timetables. The Trenitalia website is the easiest source of information, There is parking in the front of the station for people to pickup and drop off train riders. I never saw cabs at the train station.

As to be expected the surrounding area had a very high traffic of tourists and some pretty good restaurants ranging in prices. I even found a Jollibee nearby. We booked ahead and reserved seats in the Executive car. It ended up being a bit over 220 Euros for me and my son and was well worth the upgrade. We did not use the lounge, but once on board the seats are massive, there are a total of 8 in the car itself and we could easily park our luggage in the conference room. There was a meal service included with our ticket on our route along with the espresso! The train ran on time and was glass smooth. We hit 197 kph at one point and made 3 stops during our 2.5 hour trip. Even with our upgrade it was cheaper than flying and way less time dealing with airport security, dealing with your luggage etc.
