HELPFUL HINT: Just wade across the water to get to the other side! We didn't on the way there and decided to walk down and then jump when the river became a creek. What a horrible idea! We got hot, sticky, sweaty, and eaten up by mosquitoes! Awful! Then, when we jumped, we got muddy and I managed to jump onto a stick and cut the very bottom of my foot. Did I mention that the stick that cut me also gave me a huge splinter? So overall, just a bad idea. We climbed all the way to the top and what a gorgeous view! The water was pretty high and the current was really strong, so we didn't climb throughout the spillway. We decided instead to stay on the side, which was fairly dry in some parts, and definitely less slippery overall. I am sure when the water level goes down, it would be a great place to lounge and get some sun! Just watch out! It is SLIPPERY!

So, I wouldn't recommend visiting at night, as you never know what you may encounter. The Grafitti wall was much more longer than I thought it would be! The vibrant colors from various artists that join together to create a complete picture was truly astounding. It's actually so inspiring to see so many different artists working together, incorporating their own unique styles to create one single piece of artwork. If I took a few minutes to really take in and admire each grafitti, finishing the wall would take HOURS! I was skeptical that this mural was worth the trip to an abandoned area, but I'm truly so glad that I came to see this beauty. If you're in Saint Louis, you have to come take a look!

Aside from the surprising length of this mural walls the quality and the meaning behind these works of art stood out to me the most. We specifically plotted this route on our GPS so that we could pass thru this cool outdoor museum-like area. To sum it up, it was a pretty interesting stop on the way. It was a bit off the beaten path as we had to traverse thru some very quiet areas and creeks, but this very unique outdoor gas station memorabilia museum exists in the middle of nowhere. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth taking a few photographs as you make your way thru Route 66. There were hundreds of pieces of vintage gas station memorabilia on display and no one in the vicinity when we made our stop so we had the whole area to ourselves. There were a few cars that passed by, but all of them just drove by. It makes for a nice 15-minute break from a long drive as it is a great chance to get out to stretch and take a few photos.

I'm a HUGE fan of all things vintage, so seeing the antique cars an sign along Route 66 sparked my curiosity. We got off the nearest exit, took some back roads, and finally arrived to the Mecca of all things Vintage - Bob's! Located in a quiet, remote area of Missouri, my friends and I had no idea what to expect from this adventure. A friendly man greeted us as we snapped photos, who turned out to be Bob himself. We took some photos of all the vintage memorabilia outside - then made our way inside a restaurant - which turned out to be a catering service of sorts. We were greeted by a woman who seemed to be setting up for an upcoming event. She was very welcoming, told us to come inside and take all the pictures we wanted. She even showed us the stairway that led up to the top floor. VERY cool place!! After taking photos in the catering area, Bob gave us a tour of the land. We checked out different sheds and spaces that contained a ton of hoarded vintage collectibles. Bob was kind enough to allow us to browse around and take photos while he waited for us outside in the heat (poor guy). Not gonna lie - I actually thought we might get murdered for about 3 minutes. The place, while very interesting and unique, had a strange eery vibe about it. We walked out alive (obvs), but I was pretty vocal to my friends about the possibility and we enjoyed a few laughs thanks to it. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves old school American nostalgia. Bob's will definitely be the place for you.

Review is obviously just for the chair (see my Fanning Outpost store review if you're…read moreinterested...). So, about the chair...yeah it's cool to look at for like 3 minutes. Then the novelty wears off just like that. You can go up close and underneath it, unlike the World's Largest Rocking Chair in Casey, Illinois (which they had roped off when I was there last year). On the wooden legs you see so many people trying to advertise their blog/YouTube channel/whatever with stickers, which kind of takes the fun out of things. (Then again, you see this happen on a lot of Route 66 attractions, even at the Chicago begin/end signs) But, it makes for a great selfie and Instagram moment. Probably the best spot for that kind of thing on Route 66 in Missouri.

Created by artist Igor Mitoraj this piece oils from Roman and Greek mythologies which it accurately portrays. When my family and I stumbled across this piece in august 2018 i immediately said "I bet that's a geek god or goddess". This bronze figure is a popular photo op for the downtown Saint Louis area and neat several other really cool sculptures and not too far of a walk from popular and famed gateway arch of Saint Louis. Overall very awesome and fun piece. Me and the family all loved it and the fun photo op that came with it.

Live music - I enjoyed the selection and quality of live music at the festival 3. Kimmswick - the town provides a great setting for such a festival. Highly walkable and easy to navigate without feeling like I'm getting lost. 4. The vendors that embraced the theme - props to the small handful of businesses that embraced the theme, especially The Blue Owl. The not so good: 1. Where are all the strawberries? For something billed as a strawberry festival this event had a surprising lack of them. I was looking forward to getting to try many strawberry related treats. Most vendors had nothing to do with strawberries. For the ones that did, most felt like strawberries were an afterthought. 2. What are these shops and are they open? The shops that line the streets get lost behind the booths. I couldn't tell what many of them offer or if they were open so I only visited a couple that were clearly open and made it clear what type of products they offer.

The stores drug their offerings outside and sold them in tents, there were a few carni food stands, there was an 85-year old fat and balding Elvis impersonator, a kiddy train rolled through the crowded walkways repeatedly at about 30 mph, and one - yes ONE - lonely little stand selling crates of strawberries. What the heck? Major fail, Kimmswick!

My wife was looking at the Internet as we was passing through Alton and she's seen this world's tallest man advertised so we thought we'd check it out. Why not since we was there right? It was a pretty cool experience so we took our pictures with him and then another family came up that said he had been raised in Alton, and there was a little songs and sayings whenever he grew up about the world's tallest man. He took our picture and then had us take a picture of his family for him also. I'm 6"1 and this guy made me look like a child!! They also have a replica of his chair. definitely a place of interest to check out! I'm sure children would really love it also!
