The food is always good (especially fries), and they always make sure everything is correct

A lot of changes since I was last here. It's cleaner, they use kiosks to place orders and pay, and everyone there was very polite (and older [no kids]). Having wait staff was nice, but inconsistent, so the kiosk change works for me. The sandwiches are still awsome (they are the original smash burger) and the fries are still thin shoestrings, very hot, and delish. They may have cut back a little on the volume of fries, but there were still enough for me. read more

We did a quick stop to get the garlic burger and the beef tallow fries. Unfortunately the drive thru didn't give us the fries so we weren't able to try those. The garlic burger was good as always. The customer service could have been better, they did try to give us someone else's order and didn't get our order right. Mistakes do happen and this is about as good as you can expect from a drive thru. read more

I decided to give this place a try since my last interaction was not the greatest that was when they just had reopened so a lot was happening I came this evening and a place an order on the kiosk. It was super convenient and so easy I loved how detailed it was so I got exactly what I was wanting and there were no mistakes. I said no mistakes because it's such a user-friendly kiosk so I can enter exactly what I'm wanting. The staff was very pleasant, and they came up the kiosk to talk to everyone that was putting an order in. It was very kind. The gentleman that was talking to everyone and in no bad way, but reminded me of Post Malone (look alike - doppelgänger) was just very kind and engaging very friendly. I wish he was wearing a name tag because he was just so kind and I wish I could give him credit. He was repeating exactly the orders back to everyone making sure everything was correct. The window person spent a whole 2 minutes looking in the bag to see if I had everything obviously didn't know how to count to 4. It's sad to see iconic restaurants like Steak & Shake become just like a Burger King. We tried this reopened store and they no longer have wait staff. Gone are the China plates and bowls. Gone are the large glass CocaCola glasses. Now you order at computer kiosk (I hate these!). Then your order is brought to counter or your table. Self service on drinks. A good waitress or waiter could make decent money on tips in the day. Sorry but I'm not a fan of the current times where workers make more staying home drawing check. Ehhh. Ordered standard combo meal, didn't receive drink or fries. Though, it's technically their mistake for not giving me the drink, it's my mistake for not requesting the drink while sitting there. It's most definitely their mistake for not including fries in the bag. Yet, the window staff dropped ketchup in the bag??? For what exactly? I was ripped off for the combo meal price when I only got a sandwich alone. It is not worth not spending gas to head back over solely to pick up a small drink and small fries. Do not visit this location! If you do, you better check your order completely right then and be prepared to argue with them as they are clearly unwilling to provide everything that you order, yes even combo meals. To cap it all off, the phone number to this location rings once then disconnects. It's like they don't want you calling. Bad location made worse by inept staff. It's not like the kitchen didn't have at least 3-4 staff in there. I could see all of them from the drive-thru window. What are all of those staff spending their time doing? We went at 10pm on a Sunday. Maybe the worst time to go to a fast food restaurant. I didn't even expect them to be open for dine in. My experience was phenomenal! We ordered from the kiosk. Food was brought to our table within 10 min. Everything was exactly how it should be. We were checked on frequently. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We have not had Steak and Shake for over 5 years. When we saw it, we had to stop. We ordered 2 single burgers, 1 Frisco Melt and 1 fry. Alright, let's talk about this location... 1. The wait was super long 2. The order take was handling the late night stress well 3. My burger had pickles on it even though I explicitly said no pickles or tomato 4. I had no mayo on there even though I asked for extra mayo 5. Both my sisters ordered the $3.99 chicken strip meal with an extra chicken strip but they gave them both popcorn chicken and when questioned said, "that's all we had...". Sat May 29, 2022 3 PM. Must place your order yourself at a kiosk. Burgers were barely warm enough to eat, as were the fries. Milk shake good. Floors AND ceiling FILTHY. Ceiling had numerous water stains, frames around AC vents rusty, ashes on ceiling tiles. Floors were despicable. Black stains as if mold was knocked off ceiling . Tables and seat were clean. The lady at the drive thru was rude as hell and then she didn't say anything to us at all except when saying the total. We waited to see if we were good to go being taken a back by her rude attitude and then she opens the window and says what you y'all want, so we said we didn't know if we were good to go since she Litterally said nothing and she responds with "well I gave you the receipt and the food" and then we were like well u didn't say anything and she slammed the window dramatically again. The staff did not seem really invested in their jobs. I hate posting negative reviews but tHis was a super disappointing visit. Our food was cold, the chili was so old it had film on it. Our drinks had floaties. Our table wasn't cleaned and the table next to ours wasn't cleaned for the majority of our meal. We did watch as that table was cleaned the waitress picking up some crackers from this dirty table and giving it to another customer for her chiili (which is completely wrong since the crackers had been served. I don't know the laws but I'm pretty sure there are rules against this). We really enjoy steak and shake but this restaurant was bottom of the barrel. It really needs to have a cleaning day and evaluate staff (or pAy them better so they feel valued to work) Also as we were paying we asked a question regarding whether or not military discounts were offered. She clearly heard us because she stared, but that's it. She just stared for a second then proceeded to ring us up and tell us to tip (despite us telling her we left cash on the table). My usual place to go to late night tonight was not it sat at the intercom for 15/20 mins no greeting or nothing was said pulled up to see if they were close it was a car at the window but no workers in site sat another 10/15 before I could get to the window waiter another 5 mins before I was told a total stated that I had been waiting over 30 mins to place an order told me that the window time was over 33 mins and they were short handed due to people calling off lobby started to get full knowing all of this before waiting over 30 mins could have given me a chance to go some where else before they close since it now 12 am not to many place I could go after a long day this the last thing I was trying to deal with but I order anyway let's see what this foods like. I have not been to Steak and shake in forever! We went it to the restaurant and it was spotless! We used one if the kiosks which was very simple. You could make everything exactly how you want it. Great staff here carrying on the tradition - this restaurant is modernized with a self serve kiosk that is easy to use, a nice server will bring your food to your table. Prices are still dirt cheap for a great burger, fries, and shakes. This is a great place to get really good food at prices well below other inflation priced burger places. read more

I was hesitant to go here since most of these places bave closed. But i just needed food and a place to waist time. This was perfect. There was a total of 10 customers in the place and the workers were very laid back and Easy going. The drive thru was busy, go figure. My food was good no complaints. Its a shame that S&S couldnt make it but today its hard to do food service with all the competition there is. Seems everywhere you turn someone trying to sell you something to eat. We wonder why theres so much overeating and obesity in America. I have to make myself not be tempted by all the ad's and media. Working in a grocery store helps with that. Being surrounded by food 40 hrs a week makes you oblivious to all the ad's and Temptation that venders use to lore you in. Lots of good potential here. Uniforms all out of line, food took an insane amount of time (20 minutes) in the drive thru, not very clean. Honestly the staff was very friendly though and worked hard. It seems like this is more of a management or corporate support situation. read more

2nd time I been to this location and their "shake machine is down" why is your name steak n SHAKE? 1st time I called the next morning and the manager was very apologetic. I was fine with the fact he handled the situation. Obviously not because when I refused to leave the drive thru line until she told me her name and informed her this has happened before and I WILL be calling management in the morning she told me, " my name is Angel, what shake can I make fresh for you?" We tried to call them several times and it rang indefinitely so we drove up to the place only to be told we couldn't have anything done because it was through a third party, despite the fact they messed up. As much as I want to, I cannot in good conscience rate this place 5 stars. The food is fan-freaking-tastic but I've got a couple major beefs. Mmm, beef. My first issue is the speed of the drive-thru service. Pretty much the slowest line ever. Seriously, if you pull up here and you're not the ONLY person in the drive-thru lane, prepare to wait 15 minutes. I shudder to think how long I'd be waiting if I was ordering for more than just myself. This line moves slower than the one at your local DMV, and I swear I could probably do my taxes in the amount of time it takes the late-night crew here to whip up a frisco melt. The other big issue here is the price. Not as big of an issue as the speed, since I will definitely pay a premium for what I consider to be quality fast food, but still...it keeps me from more regular visits. I was there two days ago after my night class at Lindenwood let out and the damage was something like $10.50 for a frisco melt with bacon and a chocolate shake. All that being said though...I absolutely LOVE the food here. I guess I should say I just love some of the food here, since I pretty much never waver from the frisco melt, the chili, and the cheese fries. Seriously, you have got to try the chili here...it's good and they know it, which is why they sell cans of it both in the restaurant and in your local supermarket (check the shelves at Schnucks, Walmart, etc). All I know is if I'm at home and hungry, and I open the cabinet and see Steak n Shake chili, there is no way I'm not eating it. :P read more

This place isn't too bad during the day from my understanding, but at night the service is really slow, at least whenever my fiancé and I have gone there. One night we waited 15 minutes to even get someone to come around to ask what we wanted to drink, which my fiancé ended up going to the front counter notifying a manager and we finally got someone to get our drinks that WASNT EVEN OUR SERVER! Also when we tried to tip the guy that went out of his way to get our drinks, he pushed for us not to tip and said rudely "I'm not going to ask you again, stop!" Which came off really rude. Our actual server was extremely slow, got our orders wrong, my garlic steak burger didn't even have the garlic sauce on the burger, and it took 45 minutes to an hour to even leave the place the service was so slow not to mention there weren't even many tables filled. I don't know who the manager is on duty at night, but they really need to train their employees better at service and respect. read more

Love milkshakes. 2 of the 3 we ordered were AWESOMELY wonderful. The third one was awful... Not even remotely edible...and the "super friendly" person working at the drive through couldn't have cared less.
