Still writing this review while I'm sitting at the table because the food is that good. I honestly did not expect a place with such a fun, college-bar atmosphere to have food this incredible--especially on a packed Saturday night. Let's start with what completely blew me away: the dessert. I'm not even a dessert person, but the toffee cake with ice cream was hands down the best restaurant dessert I've ever had. Absolutely unbelievable. I could've eaten three more. I already can't wait to come back, and honestly, I'd come back just for that dessert. Our sever asked us if we wanted to lick the plate LOL. By the way she was great. Now, the wings. The 5-wing basket with waffle fries is one of the best values I've seen in a long time. The Buffalo wings were fantastic, perfectly cooked with great flavor. The wrap was also excellent--it comes pressed like a panini, which takes it to another level. And those waffle fries... get the Memphis seasoning. The rub is ridiculously good. You can even get that same seasoning on the wings, and it's a game changer. Between the food, portions, prices, and atmosphere, this place absolutely exceeded every expectation I had. A long standing Main St. landmark is quickly loosing its way. The food is on the whole still pretty good. But atmosphere, and service are SLIPPING. We were there tonight and ordered salads with a hard boiled egg, something we do often. The salads came out with no egg. My wife mentioned it, so the server goes to the kitchen to rectify and brings my wife a hard boiled egg still in the shell!! All we could do is laugh. Also staff need to look UP and dust the ceiling fans, and ceiling as a whole. Very large dust bunnies right above people's food... not appetizing. A friend and I stopped by to catch happy hour last Thursday, and we were super impressed with the specials! My friend enjoyed the chicken quesadilla ($6 on HH), and I ordered the nachos (also $6 on HH), which were HUGE! I also got a couple of bud selects for $3 each during HH. The food was perfect for enjoying in this casual/sports bar kind of atmosphere. We also received wonderful service from our waitress, Erin. Tay was my server! Upon walking in you seat yourself. Once I found seating I had a 10 min wait and was approached. Building is more of a slab. Long and straight all the way to back . Back area was having a party. Restroom was basic and clean. For drink I ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and 5 flats hot and onion rings. Food came out under 20 minutes and was hot and fresh. Pretty cool sports bar! The menu has soups,salads and pretty much all the bar food and drinks you can think of. The food came out pretty quickly and the bartender was very attentive. First time visit. Wings, what can I say that many already know? They were astounding!! We did mild, Honey Sriracha, Thai Chili and Memphis Dry Rub, all great choices. The staff-owners are so incredibly friendly, Teresa made a point to introduce herself to us and learn all our names . We had a wonderful time at this place and can't wait to go back! We had never been here for food before so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and sat at the bar. We were not greeted until about ten minutes after sitting. We ordered cheese sticks, taco salad and a buffalo wrap. The cheese sticks were great. The taco salad did not taste fresh and the buffalo wrap was awful. We couldn't get our bartender back as it appeared they were in the middle of a shift change. So we asked another bartender for our check. We barely took two bites out of our food. No one asked us to get a to go box, if something was wrong etc. We felt like a burden. We will not be returning....at least for the food. read more

After reading several positive reviews, we found that during our dining experience. The food was not up to standards.. we ordered the combo appetizer platter $ 16, Cindy ordered a chicken wrap $14 while I ordered the Philly cheese steak. $ 14. The potato skins were badly overcooked, the toasted ravs were tasteless, best thing about the appetizer platter was the jalapeño poppers.the service was average for a Monday. My Philly cheesteak was luke warm and my friends chicken wrap came to us cold. Went there on a whim passing through St Charles on a Monday with a friend looking for a beer and a burger. Big A's was open so they got the nod. We wanted nothing fancy. Turns out place is a great choice. Pretty standard menu. I had a Reuben. My friend had beer cheese soup and a salad. The Reuben was good, the beer cheese was fabulous, and the salad was fresh greens. Our servers were super. Big A's is in an 1800's vintage shotgun design building on Old Town Main street. I don't know where the bar came from but it's beautiful. Someday I'll go back and hang out at the bar. This is definitely a place I'll return to. read more

Cool location on Main Street in downtown St. Charles make it a great spot for food when your out visit the shops in the area. The lemon drop martini was mixed so well I had 2 I had the 4oz BBQ burger and fries and it was seasoned well and cooked perfectly loaded with onion straws bbq sauce and I added bacon and onions, fries were crispy and seasoned well. Husband had Lindenwood burger and said it was great. Our waitress Julia was the best, she told us some of the favorites and was very attentive and helpful. Can't go wrong with A's when it comes to delicious bar grub. Burgers and apps are top notch. The last several times, though, the service has left a lot to be desired. The most recent trip almost had us leave and walk down the street to get dinner elsewhere. We finally approached the service station after waiting 15 minutes for a waitress and were told we weren't her table but she guessed she could take us. You could tell she was exasperated. She and 2 others (bartender, included) walked past us without drinks or menus no less than 10x combined and never acknowledged us, spoke to us, or even looked at us. Food was good, and all the stars come from the food. Unfortunately, we've actually tossed around not going back for awhile because of the service. My guy has been frequenting A's for over 20 years and isn't in any hurry to head back. I ordered a pizza for the first time from Big A's. I was very disappointed. The pizza was cooked too long, making the pepperoni very crusty and with little taste but the salt. It was also very dry.
