As gay baths go this is one of the best, Good space, good crowds, lots of action. I only wish they would get the old hot tub working.

Yes, they don't have the steam or jacuzzi that the other SW have, but I like this place. It's always clean, and the staff are very professional and respectful. It'll cost you more than the club around the corner, but it's worth it due to the quality of men who go here. read more

Shouldn't a bathhouse whose own website refers to it as "Steamworks Baths" actually offer baths (ie., hot tub or jacuzzi)? I did not even give it a thought before going here for a soak, naturally I assumed it would be available. Nope. I'll also say that there seemed to be a lot of things that were out-of-order -- drinking fountain, one of the showers, a couple of the video screens, flickering fluorescent light in the main hallway, couple of broken lockers. It seems to be in decline and a little sad. Ditto, the clientele. If you come here expecting the Berkeley or Chicago level of Steamworks, as I did, it's a major disappointment. Finally, what is up with the ear-splitting thumping music? It was seriously unpleasant and everyone seemed to be bothered by it. I wonder if Steamworks ever asks its customers if they want it -- no one did when I was there. On the upside, the staff was pleasant and things were reasonably clean. I saw them refuse entry to someone who was clearly drugged out, and I appreciate that. read more

Steamworks Seattle is consistently run well by the friendly and approachable manager, Chris. He and his hardworking staff, always work hard to keep the club clean, especially during very busy events like Cummunion and the Bear event. The staff also are always pleasant and helpful, and most importantly, try their best to keep the hardcore druggie out of the club. I recommend this club for tourists and locals alike. I had always wanted to visit a gay bathhouse! so I finally "grew a set" and ventured out to explore Steamworks on Halloween night. Didn't know the first thing about being there and what to expect! The desk attendant was very friendly & helpful. I bought the anonymous entry and paid $27 for a regular room and headed in. I loved the freedom and and the atmosphere at SW right from the start. After getting to my room I stripped and covered with the towel and started walking around and checking things out. It was fairly busy there that night but I felt totally at ease and saw a lot going on. I have since visited SW on 2 other occasions. Personally I like the Thursday, "Lights Out" promo. Was fairly busy and lots of hot & sexy guys to watch and play with. I will definitely be a repeat customer! In fact I plan on going there tonight for LO! Ok, I'm a pretty horny person (SO?) and lOve going to bathhouses, I really feel like a can give an honest and straight up review on Steamworks, if you haven't been there this may be helpful for ya! Let me start by saying that I do NOT work for steamworks or getting paid to do this, anything nice-ish that I say on here is coming from the friggin heart! Well, like I said, all straight up Steamworks is THE cleanest bathhouse in Seattle, I have been to other ones and they do keep them very clean, however the old-scary-rusty buildings just makes it look like they're dirty, well Steamworks looks like everything is brand new, HUGE HD TV's, and really loud dance music (LOVE IT) so that others can hear you moaning ( well some people are just too loud and regardless of the music you will hear them :D ), it also helps you not too fall asleep when you're walking around at 3.00 am. Now, attire, I know that in some places guys like to walk around with their clothes on, the REAL problem with this is that you dont really know who you're getting with because all bathhouses are kinda dark and until you get into your room and get rid of all the clothes, you might see something you don't like, at Steamworks pretty much everybody walks around with a towel around their waist --- which leads me to another extremely important point --- Now this is actually true and whoever has been to Steamworks a couple of times knows that I'm saying the true, I think the reason that guys walk around semi.nude is because the crowd here is pretty good looking, from twinks walking in jockstraps, to super tall toned guys wondering around naked or really muscular dudes with their towel around their waist. I have heard people complaint about not finding anybody there, and I DO NOT want to sound mean, but Steamworks may not be the right bathhouse for you, because there is such a good looking crowd it does attract a lot of let's-see-what-I-can-get kind of folks, you might just leave with your hard-on, unless you can find somebody similar to you, so there you have it, hope it was helpful, BYE, and happy hunting :D read more

Hell on earth. It smells like death here! The smell literally made me nauseous. The music too loud and it feels like I'm walking through the labryth of He'll! The vibe here is seriously awful. Positives: Pleasant professional staff, generally clean, it is a large-ish facility, good music, crowd is usually not pushy, crowd usually ranges from kind of hot to very hot. Negatives: No steam, no sauna, no Jacuzzi (kind of takes the "steam" out of "Steamworks"), a strange large room (like a ballroom) in the middle of the facility where the steam room used to be (room is too large and too empty to be conducive for much sex, often not sexually charged (even when crowded). read more

I feel like Steamworks Seattle deserves a good review, both because not enough people have reviewed it, and because they took some really terrible customer service and then turned it right around, with some shockingly good customer service to make up for it. I never expect something like that from a place like this. When you visit Steamworks on a weekend, they give you a receipt that doubles as a coupon for #4 any visit on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I have taken advantage of this coupon several times. A couple of weeks ago, I went to take advantage of the coupon, and the guy at the window -- who I had never seen before -- refused to honor it. The reason? There is a code on the receipt that refers to the person who used it, according to him, anyway. This was confusing on multiple levels. When I had gotten that receipt, I had used Anonymous Entry -- this option precludes having to buy a membership, but has a couple dollar surcharge and a five dollar deposit you get back when you leave. It made no sense to me that the receipt would not be matching my ID if I had used anonymous entry. But the guy looked up a code on his computer, circled the code on my receipt, and said it was actually for someone named Nathan. WTF? That's not my name. "That doesn't make sense," I said, more than once. "I was given that receipt here!" In retrospect I should have asked for a manager, but I was too annoyed. And horny, of course. I was there before 6:00 on a Tuesday and the price was going to be cheap anyway -- now I was paying $11 instead of $7 (after the $5 deposit anyway), for a locker. I just paid, went in, and ended up having a pretty great experience with a hot black guy who gave me a great massage in his room -- but not before I vented my frustrations to Steamworks on Twitter. And then, to my great surprise, they got back to me almost immediately. I was given an email to send a message explaining what happened without being constrained to 140 character limits. So I did, and their General Manager got right back to me, explaining that the guy who was working the window rarely worked the front desk and was only part time, and he would address the issue with him. That was all fine and good -- but then the General Manager offered me a free room the next time I came in to make up for it! He said I could ask for the Night Manager if I came at night, and that's what I did yesterday evening. The Night Manager was not there yet, but the guy at the front desk this time was someone I did recognize, and who had seen me many times. So I just showed him the email from the General Manager on my phone, and he honored what the email offered. He did have me pay for a membership, and given what I'd been offered, I decided not to push my luck and try bypassing that with anonymous entry again -- I paid five bucks for the one-month membership, and five bucks is a pretty damn good deal for a Saturday evening (I did come just before 6:00, again; that's when rates go up). I kind of thought how my return would go would be the true test of their customer service, and they passed with flying colors. I was very impressed. They could stand to keep their spare towel cupboards stocked a little more frequently however. That said, I also want to address the stupid stuff other people say about the clientele at Steamworks: "Seattle is not hot," etc. Don't listen to that, it's ridiculous. Sure, you'll find plenty of old, fat, frumpy men there, but that's the case at absolutely any bathhouse. I've been to bathhouses in Seattle, Vancouver B.C., and Los Angeles, and Steamworks Seattle is the best of them. It's certainly better than Seattle's now-closed Basic Plumbing used to be (I've never gone to Club Z). You just have to weed your way through the fat old ugly guys -- some of whom, by the way, still get what they're coming for just fine. It's all a matter of subjective preference. And I have rarely had any problem finding perfectly hot (and certainly not fat, old, or ugly) guys to play with. I have a consistently good time at Steamworks. It can depend on the day of the week or the time you go, but often I have the best time at the most surprising times. Just keep your mind open and good things will happen. It's not the venue's fault if you're not attracted to the people there, and the venue does a decent job of hosting the many shapes and sizes who come. read more

As such, this is one of the places I would frequent for a place to sleep because I was not making enough money to pay for my own home. I was homeless and couch surfing. I started going to this Steamworks a few months ago after moving here from Chicago. Now although this location isn't the palace that Chicago Steamworks is, it is far better than the other bathhouses in Seattle (which I have been to). It's on a pretty quiet street, so all you closet cases should feel comfortable going in the front door. It's pretty clean as far as bathhouses go. The steamroom is so huge you could get lost in it. I've been during the day and at night, and, I gotta say, just about all the boys who work there are above average cute and generally pretty nice and friendly. I have noticed that a couple of the employees during the night get a tad bitchy when you ask for an extra towel. But when you tip you usually get as many extra towels as you want, without the 'tude. Also, the house music they play can get pretty repetitive, but other than that I give this place an 8 on the 1 to 10 scale. read more

I had the most awesome time at steamworks I was just in Seattle for a week and went there 3 times the first time was kind of slow it was a monday but I still had one of the best lays of my life after an awesome day of snow boarding at crystal mountain, I also went there on thursday and then back for round 2 on friday the staff was super freindly and it was like the baskin robbins of guys any flavor I wanted and some I didnt even think of, the club it self looks like there working on changeing differnt areas the guys at the front desk told me there always working on improveing the place and haveing parties and stuff my only problem I had with the club was on friday when I was there they ran out of rooms and I had to go on a wait list but I had an awesome time anyways next time I'm chillin up in Seattle I will deffinetly hit the place back up read more

Been here, done with that.... Visited on 2 occasions, different days. Not in my taste. Did not feel clean or fresh. A slight smell of mold. Why carpets on floor? Feels old and run down. Friendly staff keeping it up as good as they can. And they are everywhere, cleaning, ALL THE TIME (a bit annoying at time). Being part of the Steamworks chain does not do this place right. Been to Steamworks Chicago and LA, which is awsome. This can not compare at all! No way! Almost missleading calling it Steamworks. Mixed guests. Many shy. A fairly clean place, cleaner than the other one down the hill a bit. Somewhat more discrete to enter since it's between Pike and Pine, although you do have to poke around for some parking. The other one is right on busy Pike and just off busy Boren that is heading to the freeway. There is a steamy steam cluster (can't call it just a room) behind the showers, some action there. There are two main video rooms although there are tvs playing all over. One of the video rooms is what they call masturbation room, and more than that happens there sometimes. There are some very dark corners. I would say it's relatively age friendly, with some chubbies. Safe sex supplies and towels are plentiful. Myself, I'm more tactile and enjoy nipple play, body to body, and most of the guys-if there is any interest, they go straight for the target, real direct. read more

I have been to Steamworks in 2010/2011, and the first thing you notice is that it is a little darker inside than necessary, to the point where cruising is often interfered with: because the halls are so dark, it is difficult to see who is at your door...a little more light is my only suggestion for a place to which I still give 5 stars. It is very clean and the staff really is great. As an ex-Los Angeleno, I have been pleasantly surprised at the beauty quotient, and even a hint of West Hollywood attitude, but that's good! The facilities include for-pay computers & at least 2 public slings...room 288 has a private one; one, possibly two rooms, if you flip a switch, broadcast their action on one of the video channels, of which there are many, so you have a fantastic selection of movies. Saturday night of course is best---and packed, but the place never closes. The floorplan does a good job of encouraging circulation, especially if the lights were as bright as, say, the showers hall. And, if you think Seattle is conservative, the public action here tears that image apart. The clientele I guesstimate at 75% caucasian but there is a sprinkling of all kinds for a good assortment. As with any 2AM situation there are a very few drunks, and those in the know can tell the tweekers from the rest, but this is standard in any such facility. Management is dead set against alcohol, drugs and tobacco, but you can turn in your keys for a reasonable unfixed number of 10-minute outside breaks. They allow you to accumulate overtime charges and you can pay those on your next visit, but there is an ATM...however, this may not apply to out-of-state visitors...check. All in all, it is an exciting place where, as an alternative to a bar tab, you have a chance to get a LOT more for your money! read more
