A REAL key to open your room door!

This hotel shows its age for sure but it's overall clean and functional. If you like fresh and modern this isn't the place for you. But if you are a fan of nostalgic charm and quirks you'll feel right at home. As mentioned in photo captions the rooms were dated but clean and functional. Our only hiccup was the elevator was "acting up recently" and wouldn't open its doors when we reached the first floor. My 79 year old dad ended up pushing them open so we could exit. Walking up the stairs at the far side of the hotel was not an easy task for my 80 year old mother. We chanced the elevator again the next morning because we didn't want to lug our stuff down the stairs but the same thing happened. The guy at the desk was ambivalent about it. Might stay there again if in the area. I didn't mind the dated interior but a reliably working elevator is a must!

Tiki room (closed all but Friday and Saturday).

Nice, old school hotel. Better than expected. Clean and large rooms.

Lovely old building that could be somewhat cool, but owners need to step it up. Odor remover and a fresh coat of paint would be a start.

My favorite part of this hotel, though, was the tiki bar located downstairs and away from the rooms.

But Nader's also has the word "suites" in its name, so that appeased my snobby side enough to take a chance on this place. And I'm glad I did! If only all motels were like this one. First of all, Nader's offers suites, which come with full kitchens: a stove/oven, full refrigerator, silverware and dishes, a kitchen sink, a living room that transforms into a pull-out bed, and a little kitchen table. There are two TVs in the suites, plus two full-sized beds. It's all very tidy and nice for families, because you have so many comforts of home. The one thing that wasn't my favorite about the suite is that there isn't a bathroom sink. You have to use the kitchen sink for everything. Which I'm sure most people don't care about, so your mileage may vary. But the rest of the hotel amenities offset that minor inconvenience. Things like the Adirondack chairs that circle around a big fire pit that's lit in the evenings. The free bikes that you can just pick up and ride around Ludington. The basketball court and little area with corn hole, shuffle board and giant Connect Four. The outdoor pool (that's heated, but not warm). The free wifi and free parking. The location -- oh man, the location! You're literally a four-minute walk from the beach. All of these things make Nader's a great place to stay for families. And other families must agree, because we saw lots of them during our stay.
