We LOVED our stay at Ludington House! Bob and Ellen are so sweet and the house is beautiful. We caught a winter sunset on the frozen shoreline. It was the perfect birthday getaway. I highly recommend staying here! Breakfast was delicious and our room was beautiful!

My husband and I loved our visit here a few weeks back. The inn was wonderful, the room was great and the innkeepers were the best. We noticed that all the rooms were tastefully decorated as we were given a tour of the inn. The whole inn has a wonderful aura. Breakfast was very good both mornings we were here, and my husband loved the french-pressed coffee. Town is just a very short walk down the road and the lakeshore a little ways beyond that. Anytime we are looking to stay in Ludington, this is our inn of choice.

My friend and I had a lovely stay. It was charming and very close to everything. It's an old historic house so it's a little creaky. Our room was nice but the bathroom was very small. The breakfast in the morning was amazing!!

My friend booked this and we had a wonderful time. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. Bob and Ellen were accommodating and our breakfast was awesome. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

Believe me, we will be back for a third stay! Melanie, the owner, is such an amazing host. She goes out of her way to make you feel special. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you will feel like royalty. When we first arrived, she presented us with warm cookies, a beverage of choice, and a small jar of local homemade jam. She then showed us around the place and walked us to our room. Our room was very clean and there were snacks in there also. Although the rooms aren't huge there is plenty of space for sleeping and each room has it's own bathroom and shower. But by far, it's the breakfast and all day sweet treats that please people and bring them back. For breakfast, Melonie makes egg dishes, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and many sweet dishes. She also has a variety of fruit, juices, coffee, and tea available. She takes special requests and is sure to meet any food allergies/tolerances. Melanie also bakes throughout the day. While we were there she provided us with fudge, cookies, dessert bars, lemon squares, cheesecake, and more. There is also a variety of ice cream flavors available in the fridge - serve yourself. To top it off, she has a small refrigerator full of beverages available at all times and she won't want you to leave empty handed. When we checked out, she said be sure to grab a beverage to go! I really don't know how Melanie, Chuck, and Chris manage the place and make all the scrumptious food. On top of that they renovate and keep up their beautiful flower gardens. Check out my photos. If you are anxious about the idea of a bed and breakfast, this is the place for you!! There are many seating areas for eating and you do not have to make small talk with strangers - unless you want to. You pick your time for breakfast and Melanie makes sure everything is ready then. Not only that but she keeps your coffee full with a smile. Thanks for everything, Melanie, Chuck, and Chris. We will be back!

Badger chugged us across the the Mishigami in a puff of glory and airborne soot, leaving us feeling like industrial-age aristocrats -- if aristocrats wore raincoats from Target and clutched their luggage like damp raccoons. As we disembarked, the skies opened with the enthusiasm of a Shakespearean tragedy. Ludington greeted us with what meteorologists refer to as "a gentle mist" and what the rest of us call "a relentless downpour." Naturally, we had to walk. Uphill. In the rain. To The Lamplighter Bed and Breakfast, which at that point may as well have been the mythical city of El Dorado. Upon arrival -- soggy, windblown, and questioning all life choices -- we were met by Dan and Jen, the B&B hosts who are either actual angels or have taken an advanced course in hospitality sorcery. They didn't flinch at our drowned-rat appearance. Instead, they welcomed us like old friends returning from sea. We half expected a butler to emerge. Our room? A cozy, clean, charming haven complete with a fireplace. We stared at it for twenty minutes like cavemen discovering fire for the first time. It was warm. It crackled. It whispered, "Go get cocoa downstairs." In the morning came breakfast. Let me just say: if Dan and Jen ever start a brunch religion, we're converting. The food was spectacular -- fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared by someone who has stared into the soul of an egg and understood its purpose. One bite of their homemade goodness and I briefly blacked out from joy. Dan and Jen do not merely run a bed and breakfast. They curate a full journey. You arrive wet and cold. You leave warm, dry, nourished and wondering how much property goes for in Ludington.

When we asked to move rooms, we were given a tiny apple cider container to "catch" the fruitflies and told we can't move because we'd used the room. We were also told the flies were bad in general. If they knew though, I'm not sure why they didn't give a warning up front. It definitely hadn't been dusted in a while with dust caked on the lampshades. The bathroom light only half worked - but would flip on if you hit the wall next to it. The bedspreads looked dirty with at least one pillowcase having what appeared to be a blood stain. The bathroom had small spots on the ceiling in multiple places that was not apparent if they were tiny bugs or dirt... Honestly, we questioned whether they had bedbugs b/c there were bites on our legs after the first night of sleeping. We had stayed here before and don't remember these types of issues. We're not opposed to old properties, but it clearly hasn't been kept up and it felt really unclean. Honestly, was surprised to see so many recent positive reviews.
