If you are looking for a place to stay with a superb breakfast and one of a kind service this is it!! Although we've only stayed at two B &B's this one shines!! Believe me, we will be back for a third stay! Melanie, the owner, is such an amazing host. She goes out of her way to make you feel special. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you will feel like royalty. When we first arrived, she presented us with warm cookies, a beverage of choice, and a small jar of local homemade jam. She then showed us around the place and walked us to our room. Our room was very clean and there were snacks in there also. Although the rooms aren't huge there is plenty of space for sleeping and each room has it's own bathroom and shower. But by far, it's the breakfast and all day sweet treats that please people and bring them back. For breakfast, Melonie makes egg dishes, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and many sweet dishes. She also has a variety of fruit, juices, coffee, and tea available. She takes special requests and is sure to meet any food allergies/tolerances. Melanie also bakes throughout the day. While we were there she provided us with fudge, cookies, dessert bars, lemon squares, cheesecake, and more. There is also a variety of ice cream flavors available in the fridge - serve yourself. To top it off, she has a small refrigerator full of beverages available at all times and she won't want you to leave empty handed. When we checked out, she said be sure to grab a beverage to go! I really don't know how Melanie, Chuck, and Chris manage the place and make all the scrumptious food. On top of that they renovate and keep up their beautiful flower gardens. Check out my photos. If you are anxious about the idea of a bed and breakfast, this is the place for you!! There are many seating areas for eating and you do not have to make small talk with strangers - unless you want to. You pick your time for breakfast and Melanie makes sure everything is ready then. Wonder stay at a fabulous place! Innkeeper Melanie was communicative and accommodated my heath issues with special food. There were so many things to eat and drink at all times, freebies, and was able to take some things to go! The suite with hot tub was wonderful and a very relaxing room. Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast is our ABSOLUTE favorite bed and breakfast! The Inn Keepers, Melanie, Chris, and Kyle are a team that excel in customer service and making stays at their bed and breakfast both memorable and outstanding!! Melanie's accommodations of offering an outstanding breakfast at the time of the guest's choosing and offering additional entree items is a feature and benefit not experienced at other Bed & Breakfasts. The quality of food both for breakfast and baked goods and snacks available are unrivaled by any other B&B we have ever stayed at as a guest. The Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast is simply the most enjoyable dining and "snacking" that we have ever experienced. For these reasons we visit the Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast in the delightful town of Ludington at least four or five times per year. I reserve 5-stars for places that are worthy of being the destination. Candlelight is delightful. Melonie has found her passion and she is a wonderful innkeeper/owner. Everyone feels at home and relaxed. She is a superlative baker. Afternoon treats were a welcome surprise and breakfast was splendid. Thank you! I knocked off a star due to the room setup - and we only saw one room...where we atayed: Lace. The toilet is in the room with a curtain providing privacy. That was a surprise to us. For many, this may be okay. I'll leave that to you to judge. For us, we would prefer a bathroom down the hall. (Was there one? We don't know.) Other rooms may have a different set up. Absolutely amazing. Melany and the staff are so sweet and kind. I came here with my girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary and it was wonderful. She leaves TONS of homemade and store bought snacks around for whenever you want, she has tons of pamphlets and maps lying around the inn about local events and locations to visit, and the entire house decor is so old homey. It has a very old school vibe. The floors are all wood or carpeting with comfortable couches and China tableware for eating and drinking. Staying here comes with breakfast! This is a MASSIVE plus. When she says free breakfast, she MEANS breakfast. The staff here has all of the breakfast homemade. Her breakfast is AMAZING. She has everything set out from sugars to sugar cubes, different sweets, snacks, breakfast options, and more. She also will cook whatever you'd like and cater to dietary needs. My girlfriend is mostly vegan so she definitely helped us out with cooking. She made all sorts of homemade omelettes, crumbles, French toast, bacon, hash browns, breakfast sausage links, assortments of fruits, yogurts, and more! This place is incredible! Just make sure to have good weather when you come down! I'm surprised more people don't know about this place because it's incredible. COME HERE. The getaway is amazing!! read more

At a great location close to the beaches, Melanie and Gary run an incredible and hospitable B&B! We were warmly welcomed and treated with such personal attention we felt at ease from the moment we walked in. (Use the side door like real friends)! Gluten free options will be prepared upon request as will anything you could want for breakfast. Melanie loves to cook and it shows! The best breakfast! Don't miss out on sampling everything in small portions before you settle and put on the feed sack. I can't say enough about how kind both our hosts are, I hope you stop by to see for yourself. The house itself is a wonderfully finished old home, lots of charm and style without sacrificing any comfort. You'll sleep well here, you'll eat well here! Just returned from our anniversary getaway at the Candlelite, and we were impressed in so many ways. We had a Groupon deal for a romance package in the Romantic Retreat Suite. We loved it. The entire house, over 100 years old, has so much charm. Sure, there's some things that need fixing, but I suspect if I reach that age, so will I. They're working on it. This place is the "up north" version of southern hospitality. I can't recall when I have felt so pampered. The owners, Melanie & Gary, go well out of their way to not only make you feel like a welcome guest, but also, a friend. Melanie cooks, and bakes, then does some more, without seeming to get a spot on her cute aprons. She's got baked goods out all day, and fresh desserts at night. Breakfast is huge, so come with an appetite. There are several casseroles (egg/meat, french toast/fruit), fresh fruits, yogurt, fruit crisp, coffeecake, 3 breakfast meats, and Gary's potatoes. If that isn't enough, she offers to do eggs or pancakes your way, should you not be waddling yet. This place puts the BREAKFAST in bed and breakfast! In fact, Gary seems to be in charge of entertainment, as he hops around frying bacon, putting dishes out, and generally making people smile. He is good at showing you what you did wrong with the remote, too! All around the house, there's snacks and candy for the taking, as well as guest ice cream in the freezer, and lots of toppings out. Not just a carton of vanilla, mind you. This B & B is not a vanilla kind of place. There must've been 6-8 flavors in there. There's beverages out around the clock, should you need a water, a pop, a coffee or tea. The bed was comfy, too...what more could you ask for? read more

This place is great. It has a feeing of generosity and you can tell the owners want you to feel welcome. The service is over the top. For example, we booked the Romantic Suite. We had flowers and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries waiting on our bed. And a plate of crackers and cheese. And several types of chocolates throughout the room. And candles we could light. In the main area, you have 24/7 access to pop, water, ice cream, coffee, and tea. There were about 4 different kinds of freshly baked sweets displayed on the table for us upon arrival. And then there's the breakfast. They ask you when you want to eat; other B&Bs I've visited tell you when you'll eat. They had several egg dishes, 3 breakfast meats, fruit, cobblers, yogurt, the list goes on and on. And they keep cooking until everyone's done. They had about 4-5 people helping, so we got better service and attention than most restaurants I've been to. The food was hot and very good quality. I wish they did dinner too. The house is old, built in 1903. It has an old feel and style but is clean and well maintained with lots of charm. The owners have been doing several upgrades over the years and care about the property. They have plans to add a water feature outside to make it even more relaxing. When you talk to the owners you can tell they really want you to feel welcome. We will most likely book this place out next year with our friends and do a marriage retreat. read more

AMAZING B&B. I went here with my boyfriend back in October. The owner was very sweet and appropriately attentive - she made us cheese plates for afternoon snacks, always kept the guest fridge well stocked with soft drinks, and made incredibly hearty, delicious, and generous breakfasts! The house was BEAUTIFUL, VERY clean and very well maintained. It had an older-home charm and all the modern conveniences one would expect. The owners kept it well stocked with entertainment: there were a TON of books for all ages, a Wii, every board game you can think of, puzzles, movies, cable TV, and even an old playstation with a lot of games to choose from. We stayed in the Victorian Room. It was GORGEOUS and surprisingly roomy even for two. The details of everything in the room was immaculate, down to the lace, candles, bubblebath, etc.. There wasn't much else I could ask for at the Candlelite Inn B&B. If I'm ever in Ludington again, they would have my return business! read more

Bed and BREAKFAST! The food and selection were superb. We arrived after 9pm and a full freezer of ice creams and toppings were waiting, not to mention the chocolate torte. Breakfast had too many dishes to mention them all. The orange flavored baked French toast was my favorite with a close second tie for the monkey bread and three cheese egg quiche. We've never been to this B&B before, but found a Groupon and gave it a try. What lovely people! Our room was nice. Not life changing, but nice. Our hosts were super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was like Christmas morning (lots of food- all delicious) and we enjoyed it with a lovely couple from Iowa. Our new friends from Iowa needed gluten-free and our hosts happily accommodated the request. I would definitely stay here again. Ludington is a fantastic place. read more

This is a lovely bed and breakfast with warm, welcoming innkeepers. Ludington is a great and charming getaway lake town. Candlelite was the best introduction to our first visit there. Our room was comfortable and air conditioned. There is a private bathroom open to the rest of the room. The innkeepers had fresh baked goods in the dining room all day. They also stocked the refrigerator with local ice cream which we enjoyed on the back porch watching fireflies. The breakfast was outstanding with lots of home baked/cooked items to choose from both sweet and savory. The orange cranberry muffins were especially good. If you're looking for a quaint B & B experience, this is a good place. read more

We had an amazing time at the Candlelite Inn. Melanie, the owner, was so sweet and attentive. The breakfast was homemade and amazing! My husband and I like to sleep in, and when we were the last to come to breakfast, she made sure we had enough. Melanie even made us part of our breakfast to our order and she created an amazing scrambled egg cheese bake for me! We plan to return next year! It was our first bed and breakfast experience and we loved it. From the chocolates in our room at arrival, to a special cheese plate waiting for us after our wine tasting, this place made us feel truly special! read more

Great stay! From making our reservation and the Inn keeper being open to arrenagments in case we had to get hm to our daughter who has sickle cell disease to taking into account our dietary preferences...that was just the phone call. And when we arrived a bet early she and her team were just as welcoming as if we weren't early. Our first bed and breaskfast this was great find!! We stayed in the Ludington room. When we return we will stay in a bigger room. Climbing over my tall husband to go potty was the only con. The breakfast is amazing!! The hospitality made my husband forget how many times I stepped on him throughout the night. Hahaha. Also,she must bake all day. Always treats throughout the house. Did I say the food is amazing? Its amazing! We were concerned w. Celebrating our anniversary we wouldnt have space in house for personal time w.o. being "on top of" the other guest.
