Buyer Beware -- Buyer Beware I love supporting family-owned small business. When I saw the signs for Steeple Furniture, I thought it would be a great place to look for a sofa and a recliner as I had just moved to the area and did not have any family room furniture. I found a small sofa and a decent recliner and decided to make the purchase for about $1500. To be fair the sofa was listed as "As Is". A few months later I bought an adjustable Beauty Rest bed from them as well. As you might expect the arms on the sofa crumbled like they were made out of cardboard a few months later. I called the store, and they refused to do anything about it because it was purchased "As Is". I'm really not upset that they wouldn't repair it. I understand that it was "As Is". However, my understanding of "As Is" usually means that the business needs to clearance out last year's model to make room for new product, or it was an item returned from a previous owner, possibly something that was discontinued, but no. I was informed that the store regularly buys furniture of such low caliber specifically to sell "As Is". As they explained, "If you had bought a $3500 sofa, you wouldn't have this problem because they are made with real hard wood", as if trying to make me feel inferior to them or cheap. At this point in the conversation the customer service went out the window. The person on the other end lost any sense of politeness and grace. Again, I'm not upset that they wouldn't repair it. I'm upset that this family-owned generational business is PURPOSELY selling inferior products to customers and not telling them. If the sign on the sofa had read "As Is due to cheap materials" I probably would have kept looking. However, I assumed it was a discontinued item. Just remember that anything listed as "As Is" is made out of completely ill-suited materials, and they won't tell you until it breaks. The sad thing is that I've met the father owner as well as the daughter. If fact, she was the one that sold me the recliner. They are very nice people, that unfortunately sell inferior products Do better. read more

Stopped here just by chance as we saw the signs along the road. Quite surprised by the amount of furniture on display, much greater than No. Jersey stores. We were shopping specifically for an end table that we could not find anywhere else. Steeple had quite a selection of sizes and finishes to choose from. We selected a piece that is ideal for the spot in our home, and it was fairly priced. The sales staff was also very accommodating. A good place to check out. read more

Don't buy from these people. I purchased a recliner but they said it was out of stock after waiting a few weeks. They said they had one that was the same design but a different color. Upon delivery we discovered it was not anything like the one we had selected in the showroom. I requested a return but they outright refused. Now I'm stuck with a chair we hate. read more

I've been wanting to write this review a long time. We recently bought a dining room table and chairs and had the most wonderful lady help us....Dixie. She was very helpful and so nice to deal with. She made shopping easy....she set everything thing up and our furniture was delivered. We are so happy with it....called her a few weeks later and had her order the server/ buffet,it will be in soon. Thanks again Dixie....If and when we need anything else we will come back to Steeple Furniture....they have a fantastic selection. read more

Bought an electric recliner. Only worked a few weeks and needed repaired. Then it worked but only for about four months. Took them about three weeks to look at it. Was fixed and again after a few months wouldn't work. They will not replace anything. Nothing can be returned for any reason. Then after this last time they said they now will have to charge for a guy to come and look at it, then charge per hour, then charge for all parts. I asked t talk to someone else and was told he would see what he could do and call me back. Never got a call back and now I have a 2 year old recliner that doesn't recline. Would never purchase anything from them again. They don't back up anything they sell. read more

Great selection of furniture. We went there to purchase furniture for many rooms. We spent a few hours there and then one of the sales people asked where we were from. We were less than 10 miles out of their free delivery area. When she learned that, she became rude. We were fully prepared to pay for delivery. Another salesperson realized what was said and tried to make amends but it was too late. We felt like we weren't worthy. We moved on to Miller Brothers Furniture and had a great experience. read more

Prices are extremely reasonable and cheaper than every other furniture store in the area. I live in the state college area and I will be coming here every time I need furniture. Staff is extremely knowledgeable about their products and very friendly. Their sales team does not pressure you; they just lead you in the right direction then check back up on you to see if you have any questions! Their store is Huge! Horrible "family owned" business. I purchased a dining room table and chairs and brought it home to find out that it is very top heavy and tips easily. This is a major safety issue for my children in the home. Steeple furniture delivered it on Friday, and by Tuesday they are refusing to take it back. When I mentioned the safety issue they responded "you should have thought about this before." I even offered to come in and pick out a different table and pay the difference. They refused. The manager would not even speak to me and made someone else call and do the dirty work. read more

There is no customer service at this store. Especially if you are not within 20 miles of the store. I had to wait 9 days to get a date on carpet installation. Do to this time delay, I had to wait an additional week for my furniture. (they only come here on Tuesdays) I was not made aware of this when I purchased the furniture. I got the furniture on a Tuesday, notice on Thursday that there was a cut in the bottom of the couch. I called and sent pictures on that Friday. 13 days later, they finally came to look at the couch. 3 weeks later, they finally called to say they would be picking up my couch in 5 days and would bring it back a week later. (they only come here on Tuesdays.) When they brought the couch back, I notices there were scratches on the legs. The delivery guy said "they come that way" and screwed them around so that you couldn't see it. When I mentioned my frustration to one employee, he said well you live far away. (56 miles). I have spent $8,600 dollars at this store in the last 18 months - It did not make me a preferred customer. Also, my daughter went to see about cart and furniture for her living room and the person that waited on her was very rude. Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere for the rest of my renovations. read more
