Subject: Unacceptable Customer Experience at Kenosha Location To Whom It May Concern, I'm writing to share a deeply disappointing experience my fiancé and I had at your Kenosha location. During our recent visit, we were met with unhelpful, dismissive, and frankly, racially charged behavior from your staff. When we entered the store looking for a plant, the employees--three of whom were standing together chatting--made no effort to greet or assist us. After being asked for help, one of them vaguely pointed down a lane and offered no further support. When I later approached another employee, a woman wearing brown glasses, her response was shockingly rude and condescending. She looked at me, smirked, and said, "We are all out, not a single one we have," with a smug smile and an attitude that was completely uncalled for. The way we were treated made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was clear that we were not being given the same respect or attention as other customers in the store. Whether this was due to race or simple disregard, it's unacceptable. We chose to take our business elsewhere--where we were greeted kindly and treated with basic human decency. I hope Stein Gardens & Gifts takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of its staff, as no customer should feel belittled or disrespected while shopping. It's a fun place to go mosey around but much like Milaegers it's struggles to be relevant with it's incredibly high prices and limited selection. I'm not sure how this place stays open with Home Depot, Lowes and Menards as options but I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're a budget conscious shopper. read more

I visited Stein's for the first time on Tuesday afternoon. I had been running errands in the area and decided to stop in. I was looking for one particular item. I love plants and recently repotted some plants in new pots, with brand new soil. I noticed that there are small gnats flying out of the soil, and around my apartment. Rather than get rid of all of the plants I thought I might find some type of solution that would get rid of these flying pests. I entered the store and was greeted by two cashiers. I mentioned the product I was looking for and was sent directly to the solution center. I couldn't find anyone in that area to help me so I read through all the products on the shelf, hoping to find what I was looking for. After 20 minutes I ventured outside to see the beautiful plants and flowers. It was pouring rain, but I didn't care, and the plants and flowers didn't either. I had a raincoat on!!!! I was greeted by someone outdoors who asked if I was finding everything that I needed I mentioned that I needed something to kill some pesky gnats flying out of the soil of newly planted plants. Again I was pointed directly to the solution center. I was ready to give up when I decided to find another employee in an aisle. She was a young girl dressed in a yellow raincoat. I wish I knew her name because she was so helpful. She knew exactly what I was talking about and what I needed. She said I needed Insecticide Soap to spray on both the plants and soil and this would do the trick. There is an indoor greenhouse and this area would have what I needed. I walked all the way from one end of the store to the other. There are so many things in this store besides plants and flowers. There are also decorative items for your home, and women's clothing as well. I found the area, however the spot where this insecticide soap was empty. I had now been in the store for almost 45 minutes looking for the one item I came for, and the shelf was empty. I made my way toward the front desk. There was a nice young lady who explained why she worked there and that she really wanted to help me. She went into the back and found one insecticide soap. Thank God it was a win win. The only reason I have given 3 stars is just because I felt that I needed to jump through so many hoops to get one item. I should have right away been able to walk in, and walk out with the item. The greeting from the cashiers was nice, but they honestly didn't understand what I needed so I was misdirected in my search. The lady outside didn't understand either. The young girl in the aisle understood, but didn't realize she would direct me to the area and that the shelf would be empty. The customer service girl went above and beyond. She walked with me to the indoor green house area, took her time to scan the UPC code and went directly to the back to find the item. She is the diamond in the rough in your large store. I wish I knew her name she deserves some recognition. She is young with a cute bob haircut. read more

I went to steins at the end of July to get garden tape to stake my tomatoes, I seen most the garden stuff was pulled from the shelves already, I asked a person working there, and they told me that I wouldn't find it, because it was replaced with fall and winter things, July and August is the time of the year where you need to stake up your garden, WHAT ARE TYHEY THINKING! They are not with the program, then the only casher is by a outside window without a counter so the people in the store who want to check out has no place to put there items, what a joke. Steins used to be the place to go for all your gardening needs. It is so sad that it is not anymore. I came in for plants and saw a bird feeder. Unfortunately it was marked $19.99 but rang up $25.99. Neither cashier could help and called a manager. Manager said it would be 5 minutes for a refund. I would recommend going somewhere with better customer service read more

Who knew Stein's Garden & Home could be so much fun?!?! I stopped in with my sister's and we had such a good time. There are so many things to look at. I thought it was just garden supplies etc but no! There were greeting cards, gifts, home decor, clothing, spa lotions and indoor planting supplies. Now let's talk about the staff. The store was filled with the most friendly and helpful staff. Every team member we encountered stopped to as if we needed help finding anything. The check out girl was amazing. Even the lady sweeping was super friendly. I love a clean and organized store full of options. I appreciate that they hire cheerful positive staff. Bravo! read more

The only people working there that have a clue as to what is going on are the people that take care of the plants. Printed ads are not available. The app on the phone doesn't give an ad. I have been trying for two days to pull up an ad. Website tells me to try later. I ended up going over to Lowe's. Very helpful people there. I won't be going back toStein's. I have shopped there forever and the last couple of years have been a major disappointment. Update...I just called Steins. It has been 24 hours since their ad has been released and there still is no online ad. When I inquired about getting an ad, she told me the ad will be coming out Wednesday (Today is Thursday) Mothers Day weekend sales also. She said that she was extremely busy and had things to do. The store wasn't even open yet. Extremely rude customer service. Steins doesn't deserve one star. I will be contacting corporate office. read more

Updating this review as employees are not wearing face masks here. Also the place was packed, people not standing 6 feet apart and an enormous amount of people not wearing masks or being asked to wear masks. Why are employees not wearing masks and enforcing safe distance of customers? Oh wait....you want to make money over safety. Horrible. read more

Costumers are not required to wear face coverings. Cashiers are not protected by plexiglass either. There were so many people not wearing masks in the store, I could not run away fast enough. I will never ever give my business to this store again. Most of the customers are seniors and the company doesn't care for staff safety either. So upsetting and sickening to the core! read more

Stein is always one of my a must-stops on Black Friday. The store is packed with holiday décor at great prices. The holiday items were 40% off this year plus my scratch card saved me another 25%! Woo-hoo! read more

Was told the perennials were guaranteed for 2 years. 3 of mine died within 3 days of planting. Was told my credit card was credited. Received no credit. Manager said they only give store credit, yet manager who took my return said it would be credited to my card. They only credited me for one plant when I returned 3. So now I am out money. This place has poor service and managers who don't know what they are doing. I will be going elsewhere for all my future landscaping. Stay away from Stein's. read more

Absolutely love love love all of the Steins stores. I went to 4 of them. I live in Indiana, was up there during the time my husband was working up there. I will be driving 6 1/2 hours up next spring and make a couple day trip out of it just to shop there! Great selection of everything!! read more
