Perhaps a sign of time times, but brick and mortar electronics parts stores in general have gone out of business where one is left buying from Mouser, DIgikey or perhaps Amazon. But there are times when you need a component or two and shipping costs more than the part(s). Or you need it now. Chester Electronics is the goto in these cases even if you have to drive an hour from say the Chicago or Milwaukee areas. That said while I wanted to brows through the store to get an understanding of the selection, one of the owners gave me the evil eye watching like a hawk. In the end I asked for what I wanted, was shown to a shelf and picked out a part paying at the counter. To be blunt I still don't know what I might have found if I didn't feel so uncomfortable with the reception. Perhaps I should have asked for an escort. Take away, if you are looking for something specific ask when you walk in the door. It will save time and you are on the way avoiding an uncomfortable situation for everyone. Notable is that there are pictures on the web, as well as a YouTube video from a few years ago. The organization of the store has changed thus what you see today is not representative of what was shown in the past. Bad? No, just different. Clearly a lot of what was visible in the past is now behind the counter, which brings the discussion back to ask given there is more than is on display. Would I return? I think the answer is yes, but the day after I realized I didn't get everything I needed and ugh I ordered what I missed off of Amazon for next day delivery. read more

Stopped in as I needed a small solder job done. Wasn't sure if they did this type of work and assumed I would be buying a solder gun. He did the job and I thought he was joking at the price.
