The most beautiful summer garden center you could ask for! You'd never guess the flowers came from a chain store. There are a wide selection of all sizes of flowers and food plants, both annuals and perennials. The rows seem to go on forever but they're organized and well stocked. Reasonable-moderately priced, depending on what you're looking for or if you're following the many sales going on each week. Really pleasant outdoor checkout experience. The cashier was professional and sweet. The blue-ribbon zinnias are already in full bloom, so no need to wait for seed starters. We buy from them every summer and they never disappoint! read more

I have attempted to shop in your store several times and have been turned away. Tonight was the final straw. Your store closes at 7:00pm. I don't appreciate a Store Manager standing at the sliding doors at 6:57pm turning me away and telling me the store is closed. Hope it was worth losing the $75 - $100 dollar purchase I was going to make so you could clock out on time. This coincides with the fact I was shopping in your store several months prior and was asked to leave since your "team" as performing inventory and "forgot" to lock the doors. Believe me, there is nothing you offer that I cannot find anywhere else. Shopping at Steins was a matter of convenience and convenience is not what you offer. Bought my weed and feed from Steins like I have for ten years. Put on second feeding and it burnt the hell out of my yard. I tried to contact them online and there is absolutely nothing you can send a message to or talk to. Only thing is a survey, so I tried that and never heard a word back from them. So disappointed and will never go back! read more

Went to buy eight Green Mountain Boxwood bushes that were in sale paper for $24.99 each regular price $34.99. Found sale sign out in yard and loaded 8 boxwoods. Got to cashier and was told $29.99 each. Showed her sales flyer and tags and both verbiage was same---2 Gal Green Mountain Boxwood regular price $34.99. She called manager who showed up annoyed and said my bushes were not on sale. I showed him flyer and tags and he basically said tough crap. So they refused to sell me $200 bucks worth of bushes that was on a sales sign and sales flyer. I even walked him back to spot where other bushes are next to sign. They are bait and switchers. Buyers beware! Took my money elsewhere. read more

They have better quality items and a more selection than the big box stores. It's a shame to see this store have a lower overall rating on Yelp because one customer had a bad experience. I've shopped here for several years and this is a great place. read more

My father passed away recently and during the difficult process of sorting through his belongings my brother and I found an unopened Christmas tree that Pop had purchased in December of 2011, unbeknownst to our mom. At the request of Mom, she wanted to keep the tree they had purchased together from Stein Garden center in Oconomowoc years ago, I attempted to return the tree to Stein's. I thought for sure that they would at least give her a credit. She has shopped there since they opened. I explained the circumstances, produced the original receipts and even brought a death certificate along as proof of the situation. The manager would not accept the return stating that sku changes, seasonal items, computer problems, ect. prevented him from helping my mom out and providing her with at least a credit. $150 may not be a lot to many people, but to my mom it is significant. Phone calls to corporate elicited the same response. We will be donating that tree to a good cause and giving Mom that $150 so she can purchase her spring garden plants at some other establishment. Our family will not be returning to Stein garden centers. We will be taking our business to Menards or Farm and Fleet where return policies for such circumstances are more humane. In fact, both those establishments place no restrictions on seasonal items. read more
