Great location in the town of Lexington and has delicious pizza! A lot of restaurants in town close their kitchen by 8pm but we love Steis's for having this late-night food option for us! I believe their pizza dough is hand tossed (I saw the pizza guy toss one pretty high through the door once) and the marinara dipping sauce is my favorite! Don't let the appearance of the restaurant fool you, the pizza actually tastes very gourmet! The restaurant is also a bar/club with a DJ for dancing at night. The drinks are very affordable so perfect for a night out but I've had a few times where my drink order was definitely wrong. I always park in the back parking lot (lots of space) but there is also street parking as well. I ordered just a small pizza and a beer. Pizza finally came out and it was burnt. took a bite and I could not eat it. I ate the cheese off the top with the pepperoni. I had to go find her to get a bill. then she asked me if I wanted to take it home. I laughed at her and told her it was un Edible. And she just walked away! Some of the food is ok, only the perch is what I would consider "good." Just had their pizza for the second time, both times were inedible. Unless you like spaghettios, the cheapest of "mozzella," and really tasteless meat. The crust, also not chewy and not as good as a hand tossed pizza should be, weirdly, my "Parmesan crust," tasted like it had sugar sprinkled in it. Could be the sauce was so sugary that it just seemed like it. I added garlic, pizza sauce and hot pepper flakes I like at home, and still threw it out. Not had a decent burger there either (they make the bartenders cook them frequently, and they're still paid less than their cooks are). I know it's a "local pub," but I wouldn't expect anything to be very good. One more note: literally the weirdest tasting dirty martini ever. The $19.00 Mahi Mahi appeared like a kids meal. Apparently the fries get counted. It is advertised on a bed of rice but I guess that does not apply on Tuesdays. The plate was dirty and the table was sticky. One of our burger orders was without everything except pickles, there where no pickles and the server said she might not have heard that but also never brought any pickles, they must have been in a secret location together with the rice. $11.- for a mason jar of Summer Shanty. Beer prices are higher than at the Octoberfest in Munich and not even quality beer. Although the place was at 10% capacity the check got rushed before we even had finished eating. I live up here and despite these get rich quick tourist traps like that. If you play the one shot tourist trap then don't wonder why the locals avoid the place in the winter months where there are no tourists. read more

To start my family and I grew up in Lexington and we have went to Steis for over 35 years , many ,many times over the years and always loved the food , especially the pizza - however over the last few years with the newer management and staff not only has the service been TERRIBLE but so has the food!!! Yesterday, my husband took our kids there for dinner and for starters the bill was ridiculous ( which we normally don't complain about prices as they are what they are ) but he respectfully asked the Manager/ female owner why our 2 kiddies drinks (sprite and cherry juice) was 14.00 , the same price as the pizza on the bill and she was so disrespectful and unprofessional stating " obviously you don't understand about the costs of running a restaurant " and made it seem as asking a simple / reasonable question was a HUGE deal and then when he said "no worries , we just won't be back " She again unprofessionally , abruptly walks away saying "fine , don't we have many more customers" Really ? This is how you treat lifelong clients ,, well we won't be back because of the principle of this treatment and to top it off , my 7 year old son was up all night throwing up and now my daughter and husband are sick all day today from that terrible pizza !! If you're looking to order carry out- DON'T. The girl who always answers the phone has the worst attitude every time I call, and this is not the first or second time. It's not like I'm ordering a lot, I get two entrees and am always overly polite. I thought it was busy by the annoyed tone of her voice but not, it was absolutely dead in the whole restaurant. Let's see...we walked in and all 4 of us sat at the bar, felt like a nice atmosphere. Staff & the locals seemed very friendly. We had a couple rounds to support this local business/establishment before tabbing out. The bartender was fairly efficient, it did seem that she catered to locals before tourists. I paid our bill & 1 of my ladies seen the Happy Hour table topper. I asked the bartender about this. She stated she'd get the manager since my card was already swiped. The bartender did apologize and stated she forgot about Happy Hour prices. The manager comes walking over & rudely states that Michelob Ultra is not a domestic and only the draft on our bill should've been included. I came back and stated that Michelob is clearly domestic, it is part of the Anheuser-Busch family of beers. Instead of her giving great customer service, at least apologizing or offering a round, she was flat out rude! You are right, the locals do support your business on a regular basis; but you do have many tourists that come to Lexington. If you stop in here during Happy Hour, check your bill before paying. Personally, I don't see myself wasting my time by coming back into this place. Management doesn't seem to care much about tourists. If you plan to only honor certain domestic beers, it should be stated on the table topper. read more

It's what I expected. Burger looked good, was good good but lacked flavor, I mean it was the driest burger I've ever had. The bun was dry and the burger was dry. My wife had the pork chops and they were decent. Interior is dark and to me unappealing, but that's just me to each his own. Went in on a Monday afternoon since they were the only place open. We're here on vacation and rode our bikes into town for lunch. Sat at the bar and had some beers and boneless wings. Beers were cold and wings were really good! Service was excellent! We watched as the bartender cooked all the bar food (burgers, anything fried like our food, etc) made all the drinks, served people at the bar, answered the bar telephone and so much more. I went to Steis's with my fiancé at 4:00 on a Monday because all the other restaurants are closed in Lexington. I asked the bartender if she could make me a 'girly' cocktail and she told me that she isn't a bartender. I then give her a list of ingredients and she charges us $7.00 bucks for the creation. We then wait 45 minutes for an order of boneless wings and a bruschetta flatbread. I am then notified that the cook burnt the flatbread and he put another in the oven. I asked if my fiancé could get his wings first. She then pulled them out of the frier oil that they have been soaking in for 45 minutes. We now order our 'bruschetta' to go. It turns out to be nothing but a pre-packaged piece of bread with about 2 tablespoons of diced tomatoes, and a drizzle of balsamic/pesto sauce. I thought they would use their fresh dough but it was cheap store bought, pre-cooked junk. I thought to myself, how could this have taken so long to cook, when the bar has 3 people in it? I fed a piece to my dog and he refused to eat it. My dog eats everything. I want our $45.00 back and wasted time back please. read more

Nice feel and busy place with efficient wait staff! Went on a Friday and managed to grab a place to sit and get served quickly. My companion had the pizza and wish I did also. It was very good. I got the salmon and risotto dish. Risotto was good and the salmon well intentioned with some lovely carrots etc and not as flavorful as the pizza. read more

Listen. All these bad reviews are not warranted. Like you come to steis's for a reason. Cheap drinks and amazing bar food. Been a local for all my adult life and this place you have to understand what you're getting into. Order the pizza it's killer! Staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate you just got to get off your high horse and realize your in a small town and relaxxxx. I'll live and die by the pickle pizza here. Been sober here and been hammered drunk here, either way great times and a staple in my childhood and early adulthood in Lexington. We are longtime customers, and Steis's in Lexington has delicious food. This review is about the service and hopefully the establishment takes it constructively and makes an effort to improve. The last several times we've been in (and whether they have been busy or not) we have ordered starters, and then about 10 minutes later have ordered our main courses. EVERY SINGLE TIME the appetizer comes at the time that our meal comes. This last visit, the starter actually came AFTER our meals came. I asked the waitress politely if we could cancel. She said no and the kitchen was backed up. So now we have to pay for an appetizer we ordered well in advance of our main courses, and eat it while our meal sits there and gets cold...??? Maybe change your menu so the description is NOT "starter" or "appetizer" because that is not true. Just call it what it is which is a "main dish" that will arrive haphazardly when you've already started eating your dinner. Or maybe it's meant as a dessert...? This is probably not the wait staff's fault...seems more like a kitchen management issue...but DO BETTER!!! read more

I'll start by saying the place is a little dated, and the menu has changed, but not the actual physical menu. There are some items that have been crossed off and the prices are changed with a sharpie. Quirky, yes, but still very deserving of a 5 star review you ask. The food is really that good and it's reasonably priced for the amount of food on each plate. My family and I are from out of town and throughly enjoyed our lunch. There are 6 of us and we each ordered something different. We ordered a Cobb Salad, Taco Salad, pepperoni pizza, cod and fry basket, a BLT, and tacos. The cod was fresh with a crispy batter. Both salads were huge with lots of meat, veggies, and 'stuff' in them. The pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had in a long while. The BLT was piled high with bacon and the bread was toasted perfectly. The waitress was on point with a nice sense of humor. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you stopping at Steis's for a meal. read more

I would not recommend the restraurant Steiss in Lexington Mi. because I went there on 9/13/24 & ordered a pizza 13.00 & a beer 7.00 with tax & a 4.00 tip it was 25.20. I gave them my Visa card & only signed for that amount but they charged 46.84 on my card. I called & asked to talk to the manager numerous times & was always told the manager wasn't there. Well off on another adventure to try a different eatery. We decided a drive up to Lexington was a great way to blow off a few hours and get something different from the local fare. We decided upon Steis's through a friends recommendation. So for starters it's minimally updated old school bar/restaurant. The cloth projector screen draped over the window in anticipation of the Super Bowl was tacky as hell..however the place was clean. My wife and I ordered she got a turkey panini and I got a pepperoni pizza(it was supposed to be THE BEST PIZZA EVER...well that didn't age well after a look at the dough it's similar to MOD Pizza. After tasting it? The sauce was absolutely disgusting it was sickeningly sweet and the dough tasted like sweetbread the garlic cheese sticks we ordered were flavorless, we had to lightly salt them to get any flavor. The sandwich was "ok". I've eaten pizza from NY, Boston, Florida, Chicago, Detroit..this was literally some of the worst pizza I've ever had. I left over half of it there. The server didn't ask if there was anything wrong..if she could get me anything else ..nothing. Definitely won't be returning. read more
