As an early childhood educator myself, I struggled with the idea of putting my children in a childcare center, but Riverwoods Montessori is far beyond what you find anywhere else! In our particular case at the Riverwoods, IL location, with only one parent teacher conference months before stressing a few correctable problems, were the director's tone was very optimistic, it was a surprise to later hear that our child is no longer welcomed. When we were told of the expulsion, the director's response, which felt more like a lecture, was very cold. We were given 7 business days, that also happened to be during a major holiday week were schools are closed and providers are unavailable/limited, to find a new care provider. The director's handling of our situation was irresponsible and disrespectful. Perhaps, if she would have suggested and worked with us to create and document a mutual plan, provide progress reports and establish a clear channel for communication, we would have had a different outcome, (or at least a better understanding and respect for how they acted.) Happily, we found wonderful care for our child who is thriving and well adjusted. I would never recommend this provider and ask other parents to reconsider placing their child under the supervision of this director.

My daughter loves going to school and gives her teachers a big hug every day at drop off. They spend a lot of extra time on her, and it is clear they care about her very much in addition to meeting all of the requirements per her IEP. No school is perfect, but AGBMS does their very best and has the best interests of my daughter at heart. Highly recommend exploring it if you are looking for a child-led Montessori environment.

I'm trying to move this summer so I do not have to deal with these frauds as I do not trust my son in their care.

We came from the public school system and will never go back. Several teachers have over 30 years of experience and all the staff are highly skilled. The school has a strong reputation, plenty of resources and good parent engagement. My children get a kick out of wearing their fancy uniforms every so often. I am always amazed when my young children whip out their homework and do it on their own without me reminding them. I am impressed by how well behaved and respectful the students are in general. A great plus for me is that they let kids be kids in the younger classrooms ( pre-k to 4th grade ) and do not contaminate this special time with idealistic, controversial concepts adults have dreamt up. If you want your child to have a childhood, grow to be a resilient, driven and self motivated individual then send your kids here. The money is worth it!
