Before coming to NCA, my child attended two of the top public school SPED programs in the area -- from push-in to pull-out services, and even self-contained classrooms. Unfortunately, not all students can thrive in their home school environment due to challenges like integration with the general education population, the level of support needed, and the availability of specialized staff. After doing extensive research on outplacement options, I chose NCA Palatine. Like any major transition, the adjustment took time. I questioned myself, the district, and even the NCA staff on more than one occasion. But every time, I received reassurance, thoughtful feedback, and clear action steps that led to real, meaningful improvements. Success at this school truly depends on collaboration between all parties involved, and the staff here genuinely understands that. They actively seek family input and value parent perspectives. Class sizes are small -- typically no more than 10 students -- with one teacher and two program assistants. Beyond the classroom, there's a strong team of support professionals, including multiple therapists, behavior specialists (RIS), and an outstanding administrative team. She needs to call the owner first. She doesn't even know about the billing. I walked in one day and the Pre-K teacher was yelling at a kid. I felt so bad for the kid, she saw me and stopped. I told Tabatha and she said she would talk to her about it but I heard her again after I said something. For the high price of care you should be able to trust your kids are in the best care when you leave them there. Do not bring your kids here and if you are there now take them out before something bad happens to your kid.

2018-2019 were the most traumatic years of my life at Lake Louise…read more In the second half of 3rd grade, 2018, I went to the school park to play. I got there through side streets. After Care was happening, and a staff member, Ms. Geeta, saw me, told me to stay put, then brought me inside. They assumed I'd walked from a far main road (even though my address was on file) and decided to involve CPS. I barely remember the details because I've blocked most of that out. 4th grade (2018-2019) was worse. Around December, I was running to class so I wouldn't be late, and instead of a simple reminder, they stuck me with a teacher's aide until 6th grade. I dealt with bullies constantly, the same kids I had to put up with in 3rd grade. One time at lunch, one of them poured milk on me. Multiple teachers were supervising and NOTHING was done. The office staff scared me so badly that I'd run when I saw them. I gaslit myself for years thinking I was "acting crazy," but the truth is they terrified me. When I'd run, the principal and staff would chase me. I remember hiding in the library, and when I came out, the principal pinned me to the ground. I got in trouble for "fighting back," and they called the cops on me. After that, they sent me to a behavior facility who evaluated me and said everything was fine. Another time, I ran from my IEP resource teacher and hid in a bathroom stall. She and other staff came into the bathroom and waited for me to come out. That invasion of privacy is DISTURBING. In Art class, I was sitting at my desk when someone I thought was a friend grabbed my wrists behind the chair. One of my bullies walked up with his fist balled like he was about to punch me. I yanked my arms free, grabbed my Chromebook, and hit him to protect myself. Students saw it, but the teacher didn't notice a thing. Then there was the daily backpack and pocket search. Every. Single. Day. Just because I was friends with someone who brought a Nerf gun to school. I had to hand over my backpack and pull all my pockets inside-out at the front desk. To top it off, the school lunch was disgusting and honestly unsafe. One day in morning detention, the staff brought me breakfast. I opened my vanilla milk and nothing came through the straw. I looked inside and it was CHUNKY. I poured it out in the nurse's sink, and it came out like slime. Expired milk I almost drank. There are so many more things I've forgotten because of how traumatic it was. I had to look back at an old Google review I wrote years ago just to remember some of it, and it shocks me every time. So DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. It's a terrible environment. The only thing I'm thankful for is that it made me strong. I don't let authority walk over me anymore. I don't stay quiet, and I don't accept disrespect. When I feel myself "talking back," it's because my brain still reacts to the unfairness I dealt with at Lake Louise. But I fight for myself now because back then, I only had me (and my parents) to rely on. Leaving that school made me tougher and unwilling to tolerate mistreatment from anyone and I genuinely hope anyone there now who's being treated like I was finds their way to the other side too.

Parents! READ THIS POST! (Please)…read more As my daughter has been growing up, I have always had the slight "fear" that she needs to be in a, not good, but GREAT school. I do believe that Elementary schools do shape who they will become. This is when their minds are still wanting to absorb information and this is when they are still free-spirited. When I was looking into moving, I was trying very had to find a school nearby. My moving was dedicated to a great school district. I came across an apartment complex and found out about this school in their district. Of course, I did my research on the school before I settled on my lease. After reading about studies and reviews on this school, I gave it a chance. Boy, I could NOT be any HAPPIER. She is enrolled in Kindergarten and the transition mid-year for her was GREAT. When I had toured the school and expressed my concerned that she was transferring schools mid-year, they did take everything into account. When she attended her first week, she LOVED it. Her teacher is VERY attentive to all of her students as well as the parents (this is usually not likely). I was able to contact her teacher with any concern(s) I had via email or phone and she was VERY prompt in her response(s). Each child in the classroom was so well-rounded, as in they were go kind to each other. You were able to tell that they were well disciplined at school in order to come home and implement the same mind-set taught to them. The office staff there in the administration part was not too friendly. When I came in, I get it that I was there at 7am when they opened, but that doesn't excuse their behavior towards me. I had the reaction of "oh goodness" from the staff. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was really early. When I came in for several other visits, they did treat me with more respect, acknowledging that they had remembered me (*phew). Now that I have gained my "want" in the office, I realized that the school truly does care. This post could be because I'm still a Noobie to the whole parenting idea, and having my child involved in schools, but this school is truly GREAT. I'm a young mom, and I see the potential in this school to mold my daughter to be a great person.
