I recently hired Kelly to do a photo session with my partner and our 6-month-old pup (named Stella!). Adopting Stella was such a huge event in our life, I really wanted to capture some of the puppy times before they were gone. And she was growing so fast, I knew I had to act quick! Kelly did an amazing job capturing our life with dog. Stella was a little tense/nervous/confused about all the commotion and posing for pictures, so I was worried that would show through in the photos. I was also afraid that my own awareness of the camera would not allow us to look natural in photos. I was so wrong! Kelly was able to beautifully catch the "real" moments in between any bouts of awkwardness. :) Our shoot was one week before Christmas, so I wasn't expecting to see our gallery until after the holidays - to my surprise and delight, Kelly had our full gallery online on Christmas Eve! It was so nice to be able to share the photos with family members in town for the holidays. Kelly's prices are incredibly reasonable compared to some other local pet photographers. I have had or been part of 3 very different photo shoots with Stella Blue Photography. The first was a session with me and my (out of control) puppy, the second was for a family portrait for some dear friends, and the third was another shoot with my dog as an adult. All-in-all this represents 4 years of experience with Kelly - and every time she has been absolutely fantastic, the photos are beautiful, and my dog is madly in love with her. There are a lot of really good photographers in Portland. Not as many the specialize in pet photography, but what has brought me back to Stella Blue over and over is that she has a talent for capturing relationships with her camera. With my puppy - my favorite photo was of him joyously smashing his head in my belly and as an adult - she captured a beautiful photo of us sitting in a tree together. It might just be pictures of our feet, but to me - it represents my relationship with my dog. He is my best friend and we do everything together - including climbing in tree's. When Kelly photographed my friends, it was a surprise shoot for the Mother of the friends. Everyone was nervous and one of the three loathes having pictures taken. There were 15 shots that captured their family dynamics in which all three looked natural and related. Of those 15 - the Mother absolutely could not decide which was her favorite because they captured he children with her and everyone looked so happy. Kelly is easy to work with and has a wonderful gentle nature. I am sure if you use her for pet photography - your pet will be in love with her. I highly recommend doing what we did in which we did a shoot when my buddy was a puppy and then went back to the same place as an adult. We just had a December photography session with Kelly at a local park in Portland. Kelly did a beyond amazing job capturing the love we have for our two dogs. She responded right away to my initial inquiry. I found her by searching pet photography in Portland and her photos and price package are by far the best quality for what you spend. We got our pictures back super quickly and there are so many great ones to choose from. Kelly took a lot of pictures so there is plenty of variety in the types of photos we got. They turned out amazing and Kelly was so nice and fun to work with. She did a great job of getting both my dogs to look at the camera at the same time. The photos of our family are priceless and I hope I can do another shoot with her in the future. I am honestly so thankful that we found Kelly at Stella Blue Photography! Our rescue, a 13 year old bull terrier, Digger, was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer a few months back. After getting over the shock of the diagnoses, I began to panic at the thought of not having any nice photos to remember him. So I started the search for a photographer. Kelly got us in quickly and even worked around the weather for us. On our original date, it ended up pouring all day. She was more than understanding and got us rescheduled soon after. On the day of our shoot, Digger was being such a little stinker. We could not get him to relax! I was so nervous that it would show through in the pictures. When Kelly sent us our sneak peek, (only two days after!!!) I knew not to worry. All of our photos came out so beautifully, I literally broke down in tears in my office as I looked through them the first time. She captured his happy, goofy personality so perfectly! Kelly came over to our house last week to take pictures of my fiancee and I along with our 4-year old beagle. She was very easy to communicate with initially. I found her through yelp (all of her reviews are spot on!) after doing much research and contacted her though her webpage. She quickly responded and gave me a call where we set up a meeting time. Kelly showed up on time and immediately started taking pictures of us. It was great that she came to our home and had so many wonderful ideas for picture settings. The best thing about Kelly was how patient she was with Dash our beagle, he isn't the calmest thing in the world and has difficult sitting in one place for a long period of time. She knew all of the tricks to get him to pose and didn't once show any frustration. After shooting in the house, we then went outside to shoot on some trails and under some trees. The timing was perfect because all of the leaves were changing colors. Overall Kelly spent almost 2 hours taking photos of us. She is very interactive and precise. Most importantly, she was very creative in her shots. Today she emailed us our on-line gallery of photos and they couldn't have turned out any better! The shots are amazing! She mixes in all types of shots; action, black and white ect. We couldn't be more pleased with the photos. We consider our dog to be part of the family and our child so these photos mean so much to us. If you are looking for someone to capture all the love you have for your dog, look no further! Kelly is a miracle worker! My 16 year old large dog does not like his picture to be taken, nor can he stand in place very long. She was incredibly patient, creative, and so kind to me and my dog. She was very flexible and willing to try any pose or background that I was interested in. Not only did the photo shoot go extremely well and was a terrific experience, the pictures, which I received within 10 days, were absolutely amazing! She far exceeded my expectations. The pictures really show his personality and are of such high quality. I couldn't be happier. It will be difficult to choose among so many beautiful pictures.
