Blue Heron Landing Campground - RV park

Blue Heron Landing Campground

For my short trip to Point Pleasant, West Virginia at the beginning of April in 2023, I had…read moreactually booked another campground who called me while I was in route to West Virginia to tell me that their bathrooms had been vandalized and there were absolutely no facilities available not even a porta potty leaving me no choice but to scramble to find another campground while on the road. Enter Blue Heron Landing to the rescue! Blue Heron is open all year round however their tent camping is sectioned off by the small river and they had not yet moved a potta potty to the river for the late night convenience of hardcore tent campers like me. The owner was so sweet to voice her concerns for me due to April's still chilly temperatures but she felt much better after I let her know I pitch tents in Wisconsin in October. Still worried about a lengthy hike to the bathroom facilities, she gave me an excellent spot with direct access to the cleanest bathrooms/showers I have ever seen! And for reference, I camp all over as a traveling festival performer. The owner also let me set up late after closing which I really appreciated as my travel time had been set back when I had to pull off the road to research a replacement facility last minute. The owner's son came up to my campsite to collect the fee. He politely introduced himself and kept a respectful distance so not to scare me as I set up. I really appreciated that small gesture to make me feel safe. I had gone to West Virginia to scope out Point Pleasant to see if the September Mothman Festival might be a good fit for me. If I decide to add it to my festival circuit the only place I'll stay is Blue Heron Landing. While it certainly wasn't the other campground's fault that they couldn't accommodate me, Blue Heron Landing went above and beyond.

Very nice people! We loved our stay here. Great family place or for traveling short term workers…read more Busy on the weekends. RV spots are concrete and pretty level for the middle rows. The spots are a less level staying on the far right side of park but manageable. The area is hilly in general. They have a trail about 1 mile down to the lake. Kayaks available for rent. Laundry room and ice/wood available as well. Office is always nice and consistent. Game room and bounce house for kids upstairs. The dog park was very small maybe .2 acre but they do have the trail that we enjoyed walking.

We are currently here, staff are absolutely fantastic. There is no pool here but you are right on…read morethe lake down by the cabins, we're in a rv so I can't speak on the cabins. Not any mature trees in the rv area but this park is fairly new, the dump site as you exit is on a incline so I would be concerned about getting my tanks empty but we're on a full hookup site. If I had young children with me not sure how much they would like being here as roads are narrow but paved, they do have stuff for kids and a fenced dog park, they have one of those huge air bags kids jump on which seems to be quite popular. All in all it's a clean and quiet park with friendly staff. No discounts as in veteran/aarp/aaa etc and again rv sites only shade you get is from your awning as trees need to mature a bit but we've been quite content here, no seasonal sites up all night partying. Here visiting family and we will stay here again when we return but again we're just two older adults who want a peaceful site without confusion.

The staff at the office were helpful and friendly. There are lots of amenities here with a gun range that only costs 5.00 a day with permit, a beach and awesome frisbee golf course! So many trails to hike and very clean. We will be back again and can't wait :)

So I'm currently staying in one of the worst RV Parks in the country. I've been to all 4 corners. I…read morehave something to compare it too. This park is, Deer Creek Campground resort in ohio. Not the state park. The word "resort", is a joke. This is the nastiest park I've ever had the misfortune of staying at. Trust me when I tell you, I've been in many. Being Labor day weekend, we couldn't find another RV park with availability until after the weekend. A few Details, No dump, water is a cross between lead and urine smelling that leaves a black ring in the sinks and bowl, and that was just after a couple days. No soap or towels in the 2 bathrooms. there is "crap covered toilet paper", that lines the bushes, see pictures. No one has cleaned it up, and we have been here a week. Trails to the creek covered in trash, crap and tissue. Literally "crap" every where, No restrooms, or portapotties, for the over crowded park except in the front. 90% of the Trailers are from the 60/70s, not just one or two but most. Majority covered in tarps and metals with junk everywhere. Some (several) Jacked up with no tires. I counted maybe 3 newer models, mine being one of them. I stressed my concern of the safety of this park as it looks like, crack head hell. So let the bullying begin. As I pulled in today, I was confronted by the handy man who chose to scream and spit on me through his 5 good teeth, telling me I'm speeding. Yet I stopped before running his hillbilly ass over. As the oener is screaming at me to slow down from her drunkin stooper. So I get to my RV, and here comes queen of the traiter park to tell me I was due to leave today at 2:00 or pay rent. I apologized for speeding at 6 mph, and she said I was rude for rolling the window up in toothless handy mans face. I apologised again stating, I'm sorry I thought he was done Spitting on me. After her departure, several other campers came by to state they were treated the same. Being queen of a camp ground must have a new platform of honor, trailer trash at its best. We did make great new friends, so it wasn't a total loss.
