It was super clean as well which is always very important to me and an issue that most often prevents me from returning to a new salon. I will say it took me several tries over a number of weeks and months to get an appointment but I am very glad that I finally got in and of course, made a follow up appointment for the next time. I looked up the salon next door to Phil's but the only stylist there that day (early Monday afternoon) was busy with a client and didn't take walk-ins. I had seen the sign for Phil's Barber Shop earlier in the week (conveniently located within walking distance to Walgreen's) but I wasn't too keen on waltzing into a barber shop and asking for a bang trim vs. a shave. However, since I couldn't get what I was looking for at the first salon next door, I noticed the two chairs in Phil's were unoccupied and saw a nice lady who's name I learned is "Luz" awaiting my arrival as if I had actually made an appointment. I had to walk in and ask if she could fix my fringe. Luz was very professional and is an excellent listener - which is highly important for personal services such as this - especially the first time around with a new client/stylist or "barber". Luz did exactly what I was hoping she would/could do to clean up the mess I had made by cutting my own bangs and she definitely knew what she was doing; so kind and knowledgeable. I encourage you to visit Phil's even if you're not accustomed to having your hair cut by a "barber" - you won't be sorry. And be sure to ask for Luz! You'll be glad you did. After waiting a month, I received a text message 24 hours before my appointment (not a call, a text) stating that the stylist wouldn't be in and that they could schedule me with a much less experienced stylist (with no mention of price difference) at a completely different time (that didn't work with my schedule on 24hr-notice). After checking their website, it's clear that my original stylist no longer works there. No clue how long they knew about this before finally contacting me. I'm leaving for vacation next week and now I can't get my hair done. To say this was an extremely disappointing experience is an understatement. Honestly, who does something like this via text? Customer service definitely needs some work here.

While my pedicure was getting finished, I was already feeling anxious because I noticed Ashley left twenty minutes early, she came back and asked in front of everyone how we were paying and how much of a tip we wanted to leave her. I was so uncomfortable. After I paid, while still getting my pedicure mind you, she just disappeared again. I wanted to talk to her about her hospitality after I was finished but I couldn't find her anywhere. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Also there were ants in the bathroom all over the sink which is not what I wanted to see while I'm trying to get a spa experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know.
