East Park - Fun times at the slide

"They didn't have many and the bullet and caterpillar are the only good ones" -mr 9 The splash pad was good but if that's all your going for I would just go to one of the free city ones. The iced cream wasn't too bad but we had to cut our eating time short because of the bees. No ones fault but still a pain. I also found it was a pain picking up the tickets because of the loud sounds inside the building. I couldn't wait to get out. If you can get out of the city there are better places but if your here it's not a wasted day out

I really like East Park, it's a bit overpriced (hence the 4 stars) but otherwise it's a lot of fun…read more Water Park: Awesome. The slides are great! Although the water is ICE COLD, it's quite refreshing on a really hot day. It offers water fun for kids (and grown ups) of all ages. The splash pad area is great for the little ones and it has one of those cool dumping buckets that are kid magnets. The change rooms always smell like pee unfortunately, you;re better off using the stalls out by the carpet slides if you don't need to use a washroom. Mini Golf: I love minigolf and East Park offers fun themed holes and is a great change from the place on Adelaide I usually go. The minigolf has two options, one with wooden edges around each hole and one without (like real golf). The one without edges is usually less busy and better for teens/adults. Batting Cages: I'm fairly certain these are the only ones in London. The last time I was there the "softball" ones were both very slow (even the hard option) so my friend and I were using the expert hardball games to practice our swings. We brought our own bats and helmets because their bats aren't high quality and I always question the cleanliness of shared helmets. Rock Climbing: I hate heights so I hate rock climbing. I did the team building exercises here in 2009 and the person running them was fantastic. They were supportive and really motivated our group to complete the challenge. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are clean and well maintained.

What a great find…read more Texas Longhorn Ranch is just a few hours outside of Toronto and well worth the visit - whether you're looking for just a night away with someone, or looking for a larger group activity. The TLR used to be a summer camp and has been converted into a very unique Bed and Breakfast. You're greeted by the family that owns the place and their farmhands (everyone was so nice) and shown the grounds. Unlike most B&Bs, you actually have your own cabin (which is a converted covered wagon). Maybe not the best for noise cancellation, but luckily there's no one around for miles. The room was neat, modern, and comfortable. A heater is provided incase it gets cool at night, and if you're lucky enough to get some night time drizzle, you'll fall asleep to the sound of dancing raindrops above you. There is a fire pit with each wagon (which they start for you, city slicker), and each morning you wake to find a fresh pot of coffee outside ready to go. There's also a large field (wouldn't want to mow it) for playing catch or whatever it is people do in large fields. They have quite a nice size pool and lounge chairs which during those hot Ontario summers will come in handy. The meals that were provided were awesome; great value and delicious. Totally homestyle. We had roast beef, fresh and local vegetables, strawberry shortcake, grilled potatoes, salad (it was enough for 6 people...there were 2 of us). It was so good (and $30 per person was the best deal i've seen for a meal of this quality/quantity). The horseback riding was what initially drew me here - and as a novice was happy to find that although am I a not horse-whisperer, the very capable hands of our trail-leader basically was. We had a about a 2 hour enjoyable ride through the woods, visited some neighbouring horses (which started galloping over to meet us....amazing), saw lots of deer, and enjoyed nature. The next morning it was time to leave and I remembered I didn't have that much gas (it's sort of the middle of no-where and probably 20 minutes to the closes gaz bar)...the Texas Longhorn Ranch came out and gave me a good 10L for free. Because they're that nice. I can't wait to go back. Best B&B/ local vacation I've had....and it won't break the bank. 5 out of 5 neighs. NEIGHNEIGHNEIGHNEIGHNEIGH!

We were…read moreless than impressed after the first year, but decided to try another year in hopes of having a better experience, and because of the proximity to our home. Unfortunately that was not the case. After the first year, I expressed my concern about the lack of actual instruction and the less than enthusiastic behaviour of the coaches and was told that they were just new coaches and that the next year would be better. It was not. I did not expect that my granddaughter was heading to the Olympics. What I did expect is that the coaches would teach skills and that an improvement would be seen after 2 years. There was a great deal of standing around time and line up times when the kids could have been actively participating. This was an expensive activity, and I expected that the kids would advance in their skills, and that did not happen. My own children went to Forest City Gymnastics 30 years ago, and this is definitely not the same calibre of gymnastics club that it was then! As a physical educator, a long time coach and a former director of a summer sports camp, I was disappointed in all aspects of this Forest City Gymnastics experience. We will be looking for a different gymnastics club, or another activity for the future for our grand children.
