According to their website, they have been in the contemporary art business for over 20 years. I always love to check out art and they had some exceptional paintings, mixed media, sculptures, and glass which all had price tags in the multiple thousands of dollars. If you want to learn more about the artists they represent, there is an excellent tutorial on their website. My favorite pieces were the intricate glass by David Patchen, a former musician turned glass artist. He attended the glass school founded by Dale Chihuly. Pieces run between 7 and 9 thousand dollars. I also liked Rick Eggert's "Dynamic Cosmos" , a series of fluid shaped glass pieces meant to explore ideas of change, growth, and time. A series of these pieces will set you back $7,500. The art that brought a smile to my face was by Stephen Hansen. He wanted to get better at painting so he recreated a piece by Rothko. That gave him the idea of incorporating a small papier-mâché man painting masterpieces. My favorite one had the man staring at money as he painted Benjamin Franklin's portrait. These run around $4.000. This gallery represents 18 artists covering a wide range of medium, style, and taste. As everything was upwards of several thousand dollars, I will need to return to decorate my mansion after I win the lottery. A girl can dream right?

While we have always enjoyed and valued our past stays with Marriott, our experience this weekend…read morehas been deeply distressing and entirely unacceptable. - I booked this trip weeks ago to celebrate my wife's birthday. Unfortunately, our stay has been ruined by severe room quality issues and hostile treatment from your staff. We were initially placed in room 223 where the water pressure was extremely poor. The front desk informed us of a water tank issue and moved us to room 509. With only an hour before our long-standing dinner reservations, we entered the new room only to find BROWN water spewing from the shower.... When we contacted the front desk, we were promised a call back after they spoke with management. After waiting 15 minutes with no response, my wife went to the lobby to politely seek a resolution to this health and safety issue. She was wet, and immediately met with hostility by the front desk manager, Jerry, who point-blank asked her, "Well, what would YOU LIKE us to do about it?" Jerry and a maintenance worker later came to our room and instructed us to let the water run for 10 to 15 minutes. We were not relocated. After the maintenance worker left, I asked Jerry to stay so we could discuss how she spoke to my wife. Rather than offering a genuine apology or any form of compensation, she stood there and stated, "Sorry if you took it that way." Amongst other useless word salad, offering anything but an apology directly. She is extremely condescending. I have zero idea how to find common ground with someone that arrogant. Zero help, zero offer to refund us to go elsewhere. They offered to refund the parking fee and slid a birthday card under the door... The whole situation is a mess. Since that interaction, the environment has felt hostile and we were nervous to even walk down stairs. Every time we passed the front desk, the staff members give us nasty glares, making us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and targeted. Maybe because we are a lesbian/gay couple??? After that interaction, we completely avoided the lobby area and staff. The front desk and women who work there are incredibly unfriendly. Even upon check out, they are just extremely disconnected and unkind. Your staff needs hospitality training and the manager needs to stop talking to people like trash under her shoe. I've never had any interaction like this at a hotel. Gross and poor behavior. We understand that the front desk did not like us, nor want us to be there - and do not worry, we will not return and we don't like you guys at all either. I will be sure to inform others about the low standards Marriott allows to run their hotels. Unbelievable. (Photos posted, emailed to Marriott management directly)

Mattresses need replaced, pull out couch in our first room was broken and could be used; our closet door has major water damage; carpet was badly stained; hallway wallpaper was badly damaged. The hotel is decades old, but the rooms are in great shape, (recent remodel?) and it still holds up with a welcoming atrium, clean rooms, sad little pool (aren't they all at this price point) and a solid breakfast. The front desk agent who checked us in was cool ran into him a few times and he was always pleasant and nice. Gotta go there for pool towels, which was odd, but I guess people like to grab a stack for the beach? The evening reception we only visited once, but the bartender was great. snacks were as expected: cheese, fruit and crackers, but fresh and well presented. Breakfast was always good, the omelette guy wasn't always cracking jokes, but neither would I if I had to get there at 5am every day... The rest of the breakfast was standard hotel fare, and they weren't hardnosed about coming down a little late which helps when your teenage son never adjusted from west coast time. The fitness center, right next to the breakfast egg station will not replace a gym membership, but with two treadmills, two ellipticals, one bike, a full set of dumbells 5-50# and a couple balls it did leave me wanting for a cable machine or at least some bands. The big surprise for me was the total lack of moldy smell from the lobby waterfall that seems to permeate most embassy suites I stay at. All in all, except for trying to get out and go south on Military Trail or West on PGA it was all good!

The founder of Palm Beach Gardens was John D. MacArthur. He was born in poverty in Pennsylvania in…read more1897 and he made his first million at the age of 48. He became the owner of a $1 billion empire of insurance companies, land in eight states, including 100,000 acres in Florida, and investments that included Alamo car rental and MacArthur Scotch. Words used to describe him include "cantankerous. intelligent, tenacity, ruthless" By the time he died in 1978 at the age of 80 he was the second richest man in the country. He left his $1 billion fortune and his stewardship over northern Palm Beach County with no instructions to a foundation in his name that was set up the year he died. John D. MacArthur State Park is named for him. A statue of John D. MacArthur sits at the city hall entrance on Military Trail. The $140,000 bronze statue is seven-feet-six-inches tall and weighs 750 pounds. It was made by Philadelphia-based artist Zenos Frudakis and was paid for by the John D. MacArthur Foundation. The statue was unveiled November 21, 2010 as part of the city's 50th anniversary celebration. MacArthur sits on a three-foot-high granite base from a quarry in Vermont surrounded by park benches, concrete sidewalks, and landscaping. The artist planned to have MacArthur smoking his omnipresent cigarette so his arm is held up like he is holding one. I guess the city thought better about promoting something that causes cancer because there is no cigarette in his hand leaving a sort of awkward gesture. Behind the statue is a marker that talks about John D. MacArthur's life and the formation of Palm Beach Gardens. This is a good stop if you are interested in the history of the area.

The doors are all chipped in the bottom, the bathrooms are small and need updating. Carpet in the rooms should be changed to something that is easier to clean and maintain because it wreaks havoc for allergy sufferers. The air conditioner rattles and makes it hard to sleep. Everyone makes mistakes, and guests come to a hotel for many different reasons and deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Based on my experience, I would choose to stay somewhere with better customer service. I do want to mention that I did have one warm interaction with Liz at the front desk, and I appreciated the efforts of the housekeeping and engineering teams in addressing a room that was not properly kept up. However, overall, the front desk experience and the quality of service from some staff members really need to improve, and they should step up in how they treat guests and the overall standard of care.
