My daughter started dancing here when she was 8 -- she's now 14 and in high school, and leaving was truly bittersweet. What has always stood out most is the incredible compassion and understanding from the owner and staff. During a time when I was navigating custody schedule challenges, they went above and beyond to accommodate us so my daughter could continue doing what she loved. When our family went through the loss of my son, the studio, along with dance parents surrounded us with love and support. They offered comfort and kindness in ways that meant the world to us, even stepping in to help with costumes and details when things felt overwhelming. They truly showed up like family. I will start by saying that I am not surprised this place received low starts. I do not recommend this place! I had a disappointing experience with Step2This business. I was attempting to enroll my son in one of their classes, and I mentioned that I was having difficulty with the online registration process due to being neurotypical. Unfortunately, instead of receiving the help and support I expected, the lady handling my inquiry completely ignored my messages for an entire week, just two days before the class was scheduled to start. Frustrated by the lack of response, I sent her a fourth message yesterday, informing her that I was no longer interested and that I had filed an ADA complaint regarding their handling of the situation. Surprisingly, she responded immediately after I mentioned the complaint. All of this has left my son feeling very disappointed about not being able to attend the class he was looking forward to. This place is good if you are just starting dance or are going to be strictly recreational classes. If you're looking for a competition teams it does not offer much growth after 10 to 12 years old and it's one of the most expensive in the area. Costumes rarely fit and you are made to make due with what is received, making for a difficult season with your child uncomfortable for months. The instructors are inconsistent, and are frequently absent, there is rarely anyone at the front desk to help, or watching the kids outside while they are on break. There's lots of playing around in the competition classes even right before competitions leading to injuries at times. Lastly there is little to no down time for your kid to have a break and recover from strains/injuries or enjoy family vacations. read more

Would not recommend this studio for comp team. Way too much favoritism and not being placed on teams that challenge. Teams are just made to collect the dollar. If you leave the studio for any reason the owner is very immature and will try to charge for things that are not valid. They talk badly about the dancer leaving to the other dancers as well. And trying to get your fundraising account transferred is like pulling teeth. A good owner would wish the dancer luck on their next adventure and thank them for being a part of their dance family. read more

My daughter is 8yrs old and this is her third year at Step2This. I have seen so much progress in her technique after just 1 year on the competition team and she truly enjoys all her classes! She has built great friendships with the younger and older kids, they all really become family and take care of each other. I grew up dancing at this studio and I would never bring my daughter here. I thought they really cared about me for all those years and while on the competition team, until I had to quit dancing. One day after I had to quit, I stopped by to say hi because I missed them, they absolutely snubbed me. I tried again when running into the owners at a store, the same thing happened. It was really hurtful being so young having to quit a sport I absolutely loved and being treated like that. When a teacher passed away I heard, by accident, that her old students were going to get together to redo the dances to perform, in case you were wondering, I wasn't contacted. Looking back, I also see the favoritism even more clear than I thought all those years ago. They didn't have any skills class to help all dancers improve and practice the craft. You had to figure out other tricks or anything at home or from somewhere else to bring back to them for them to notice. Now I also realize why all these other dancers left this studio and went elsewhere, they were art and saw through the B.S. I want my daughter to dance like I did, but I want her experience to be much better than I had and have teachers who want to see her excel. This was not the studio for me or others who have a voice. If you are the type to be a follower, then this might be the place for you. read more

The owner, Miss Amber, led us through the pandemic and many other unforeseen challenges with creativity and conviction. **Please read before signing your child up too dance at step 2 this too protect you child and yourself** This company is very underhand and shady when someone speaks about them and chooses to leave. They begin to bully and become very vindictive. I felt like I needed to be open and honest about my experience there so that others could be informed before they made their own decision. If I didn't share then I would not be helping anyone else protect their child. In order to hide my opinion they have blocked me from leaving a review on their Facebook business page so I will leave it here. At first they were friendly and they would try to get me to join the competition team all the time. I was told by the owner Amber that my daughter would do great and they would love to have her. However once I joined everything changed. It's funny how once they have your money and you in a contract their true character is reviled. The owner and 5 of her friends pretty much run this Comp. Team and the fundraising company associated with it. They say they are separate entities but they are one in the same in fact the owner of the studio is the vice president of the fundraising committee. The first 2 months of competition team were great. They were friendly invited me to their ladies night talked about how great my child was. I would do Fundraising things with them and bake treats for them to sell free of charge. I got mixed up it their world. They would talk crap about other parents on the team and their children. They would even talk about ladies they considered friends. There was a group of six of them including the owner Amber who would be in these conversations all the time. I have screenshots of things they would say about people on the team. They were supposed to be a "family" but instead they behaved like the show dance moms. They asked me to join their fundraising committee so that I could kick off their than President. They made it so miserable for her that she had to quit herself and now one of the main contributors to the drama is president on the committee with the owner of the dance studio Amber as vice president. If you did not do things the way that they wanted you too they would gang up on you and say horrible things. Once I started to separate myself from their drama and stopped doing things for free they began to treat my daughter and myself very differently. I was promised a hiphop teacher for my daughter and that was never given to me. They stuck her with a new teacher even though the owner knew we only joined to be coached by that one specific teacher. The owner Amber promised the coach we wanted would team teach but that never happened. Then the owner began to talk behind my back to other parents and teachers. They ( Amber the owner, the group of moms and one of the teachers)said nasty things about my daughter which is so sad !! It wasn't constructive criticism them that would make her better it was things about who she was as a person.Why would you want to trust your child in the hands of teachers and a owner that's supposed to be a positive influence to your child and speak into their life and help them be better but instead they tore your child down and spoke nasty things behind your back. When I decided to leave the studio they tried to bully me and I had to block them from my phone and my Facebook account. They tried to keep my money and lied about what had happened. My daughter is now with The teacher she has always wanted far away from step to this and their drama and is so happy !! However even though we are gone the owner Amber and her friends are still trying to intimidate us and continue to make up things to ruin my poor nine-year-olds chance of dancing. I cautioned anyone who is considering this dance studio for their children to look elsewhere so that they can protect their children from the horrible things these people say and do !! A so-so Dance Studio. My granddaughter takes dance here and we've attended her recitals. Not that I'm an expert, but I've attended a number of recitals at various studios over the years. This place is very average. The dancers and the dance numbers appear minimally disciplined and choreographed. Lastly, the recital was expensive--$20 a ticket. While I can appreciate the Studio's business and their bottom line, it sure didn't have feel of a non-profit studio. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. For a business that is part of the arts community, they know absolutely nothing about the performing arts and respecting it. Plagiarism is the worst thing you can do to a fellow artist and this studio is guilty of it. So if you are looking to receive a dance education from stolen ideas, stolen choreography, and an overall complete lack of effort in creativity then this is the studio for you. I was hoping to find a studio that connected young girls to music, dance and each other. What my daughter and I have encountered is a monopoly. The only goal this studio has is to take your money. The entire premise of the studio is to "make it" to a recital ( all the others are going in her group, why wouldn't you?). A recital hosted and fully coordinated by the studio, where no other studios are involved. All toq make you pay your monthly tuition, recital fee, costume fee, ticket fees, plus. The studio fundraisers, for what is unknown, and pushes you to purchase photos, a DVD of the recital (where you are explicitly prohibited from recording yourself), flowers, candy and teddy bears for your child (because how will she feel when all the other girls on her team gets these items and she doesn't?) The teacher is wonderful, but the business plan is a trap. Buyers beware. read more

I love this studio! I take my young son to their movement class, and they are so patient and kind. He has some issues with separation anxiety (he's still pretty young), but they handle it like pros. Always friendly, kind and supportive! The staff and studio have been great! It, also, seems like the kids who attend have attend for many years, which is a great sign too! We gave this place 9 months to change my mind and show me I was wrong. They did a small Christmas program and it was alright.. I say that since I didn't have to spend the $75+ on a costume that time for less than 3 min of dancing.. fast forward 6 months later to June when they do the "big production".. they let dancers continually join way to late and taken forever to catch up.. each costume for each class is $75+ so if your in 3 classes your paying a ton in costumes.. then we pay $15-$20 per ticket after all the other fees (shouldn't the 2 parents get in free?).. the. Tickets were sold out.. while some families bought up over 12-15 tickets and parents who do work, have limited time or multiple kids seeing who can go where are stuck not getting a ticket.. shouldn't there be a limit for a certain amount of time giving each dancer a amount they get to buy so it's fair? I'd be pissed if I was that parent that pays at least $65+ a month and then can't even go? Last min they sell "standing room only" tickets for a few at an increased price! The audio for the whole recital SUCKED.. horrible! $590 wasted IMO for those 6 months.. dancers weren't together in ANY of the shows in the first half.. glad we made the decision to leave and go to another dance studio.. and some of the "women" and I use that term loosely that represent the studio of dance moms are totally completely inappropriate and talk about the other child dancers pretty loud.. glad it wasn't my kid they were talking about cuz I'd be pissed read more

I was looking for a dance studio for my daughter, who was one and a half at the time. I did not find any, and the ones I found started at age three. When I found Step 2 This, I saw they started at two. I immediately emailed the director, Amber, asking if my daughter, under two, could still attend. She contacted me almost immediately, and was more than happy to take her. We started the following week. My daughter will be three this year, and have been here ever since. They are extremely patient with the younger ones, and my daughter looks forward to it every week. They have live camera viewing in the lobby for parents, which is perfect! I started at Step 2 This when I was in second grade. I loved the place everyone was super nice, they were like my second family, so I thought...when I was in seventh grade they asked for me to be on the competition team, I almost signed up till my mom told me I couldnt do it. So at the end of that season I got an award from them for "most improved" I loved it. Then come my freshman year my mom allowed me to join the competition team. I was super excited. Half way through the season I was getting bad grades and my parents didnt feel like I should dance anymore. So they pulled me from the team. I was totally crushed. So where does the bad rating come in? Right here, after it happened I went to see my old teachers, and Amber acted like she didnt even want to see me. She acted like she just wanted me to leave. I went to say hi to an old class mate and she walked away. I saw the owner about a month ago and I went to say hi to her at the store and she was on the phone but I stood there and waited to greet her and see how she was doing, she didnt even look at me. I put my hand over her cart she was using and she still didnt even acknowledge that I was their. Its not that I didnt like the place. Its just I feel like they just wanted my parents money and the fact that they are rude when I see them. I think they are acting pretty foolish and childish and that I wasted those years dancing there when I could have went somewhere where they actually appreciate me no matter what reason I HAD to leave. read more
