One of the biggest reasons is the excellent learning curriculum, the care and attentiveness of the teachers and staff, and the fact that both my kids love going there, learn so much, and truly enjoy their time. We always feel that they're safe and well cared for. My son is especially fond of Miss Alina -- she's been so kind, caring, and supportive throughout his time there. When it was time for him to leave for kindergarten, he was genuinely sad because Miss Alina was his favorite. He started at Kiddie Academy Brentwood when he turned four and attended for about five months. His teacher was Ms. Alaina. Pros * You need your own login to enter the school. * All food is provided (though it's not exactly "free," considering we were paying almost $100 a day). * At drop-off, all the teachers would always say good morning to my son. I honestly wished one of those teachers had been his teacher. * My son loved playing with his friends and formed very close bonds with a few of the kids. * He learned how to write most letters and started learning addition. Cons * My son often seemed sad in the mornings when I helped him put his shoes on. He asked for "only easy shoes" because during nap time, they take their shoes off, and Ms. Alaina would refuse to help him put them back on. My son words were "Ms. Alaina said to put them on myself and doesn't want to help me". What parent would have enjoyed listening to that? So then I asked him more questions about this and he said his friend would help him put his shoes on. This made me want to cry because how sweet of his friend to try to help. From there on out, my son only took "easy shoes" (shoes with no shoelaces). Another time, I picked him up and his shoelaces were completely untied. He was literally dragging his feet. I asked the teacher to help him next time, and she said she hadn't noticed. It's hard to believe a child dragging his feet could go unnoticed. * They have a parent app, but the teacher wouldn't update it until the end of the day, which defeated the purpose of wanting updates while I was away at work. * Ms. Alaina had Trump stickers all over her water bottle. (I guess this might be a pro for Trump supporters.) Regardless of political affiliation, a teacher should never display political messaging in the classroom. One time, my son saw a picture of Trump and said with excitement, "It's the guy from school." Why are they talking about Trump at school? * At pick-up, Ms. Alaina never gave me updates on how my son's day went. His previous school always did, so maybe it's just not standard practice here? * One time I picked him up and he had red all over his face. I panicked, thinking it was a nosebleed, but Ms. Alaina said it was frosting from cupcakes they had during snack time. Snack time is at 3pm and I picked him up at 5pm, you would've thought between those two hours she could've told him to go wipe his face. It's literally common sense to wipe a child's messy face. * The classroom had a 1:12 teacher-to-student ratio. For the amount of money parents are paying, I feel that the school could have added another teacher. I guess that helps explain why Ms. Alaina wasn't as attentive as I had hoped. * Again, Ms. Alaina being a Trump supporter. Imagine supporting a president who has openly discussed dismantling parts of the education system while working as a teacher? Make it make sense. Overall, these are the reasons why I feel this school deserves only two stars. Maybe it would have been more if my son's teacher had been kinder and more nurturing.

One wonderful thing about this center is that the little ones get to explore the big gymnastics area with real equipment and see real gymnasts practicing. They can touch, feel, play some of the equipments (with their parents ofcourse) It's so inspiring for them! The younger kids, together with their parents, can observe and learn from the older kids. One moment that really amazed me was when I was downstairs watching my kids and saw little girls doing kettlebell exercises. I was like, "Is this for real? Wow!" They're not just playing -- they are actually working out and building physical strength from a young age. I also love how they rotate leadership among the kids during group activities. You can see the little girls taking turns leading their group, which helps build confidence and teamwork. Using a real gymnastics facility with real equipment, and allowing younger kids to see older kids train, is incredibly motivating. It creates such a positive and inspiring environment. We tried to brush it off but it was affecting our kids learning and they dreaded when she was the instructor. Why pay for someone who doesn't want to teach your kids and makes them uncomfortable? Communication was always an issue as well. Several times there were scheduling issues. We appreciate what our kids learned but there also wasn't any new skills being taught, each lesson was repetitive even after years. While we really liked some of the instructors we felt it was best to leave and find somewhere where our kids felt comfortable.

Maybe I will be an amazingly talented beginner and they will beg me to travel the world with them and dance on the Petronas Towers, Chartres Cathedral, maybe even at Petra or the Coliseum. Please. Please. Pick me. I'll do anything. ________________________ Update: Since I have now completed both the beginner and int/adv workshops offered by Project Bandaloop, I feel this review needs an update. The workshop is a lot of fun, although pretty hard on the body. I figured that vertical dancing might have its challenges, but I had no idea how much a rock climbing harness and nerve endings could disagree. However, that did not stop me from going 4 days in a row...doubling up on pants and shirts can make a huge difference. The beginner workshop (5 hours over 2 days, $110) features a warm up, and then a rotation through the climbing wall featuring bouldering/dance, dance from single point suspension ("pods"), the trampoline walls, and the wood wall. The advanced workshop (6 hours over 2 days, $150) has an additional floor station and focuses on play and choreography more than orientation and skills. The workshops were between 15-20 people with 5-7 instructors. The instructors were great! Definitely gave the freedom to play, while also providing constructive pointers and maintaining a safe environment. The founder of Bandaloop, Amelia, was also in and out, watching the advanced performances, answering questions, etc. While she did not offer me a position in her dance troupe, I am definitely addicted, and will be going back for more. Maybe one day I can have my own trampoline wall. The one downer: the warehouse in Oakland seems pretty sketch upon first approach,. It isn't well marked, and looks kind of run down. It also can be tough getting in earlier, etc because all the doors are locked. However, the next workshop is in a new location close by in Oakland, so this may change soon.
