My son is advanced with math but has problems taking tests and both tutors have taken the time to troubleshoot and give us ideas on how to combat the problem. As licensed teachers they are both adept at dealing with different learning styles and truly understand how to teach and how to hold the attention of the kids they tutor. Kindergarten my son has had a math tutor every summer and Smart Cookie Tutoring is by far the best experience we've had and the only one we continued with throughout the school year. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the camps are only from 9a-3p and I have to pay extra to be able to have them there from 8a-4p (and even that requires that my husband and I split drop-off and pick-up to accommodate our 8-hour work days). I appreciate that the camps are fun and educational, and I also appreciate that the attendees are diverse. The camps are pricier than others in the area, but they also have a small student-to-staff ratio of 6:1 that I prefer. (I find that larger ratios mean that well-intentioned adults don't always know what all the kids are saying/doing and my little ones pick up habits that I don't like). I also echo the challenge with the camp hours: 8am-4pm (with an extra daily cost for this extended care rather than 9am-3pm standard hours) is tricky for working parents. Even though the hours aren't ideal, we'll be sending our kids here again.
