I decided to wait a smidge before leaving this review, but honestly I'm SO glad I found Dr. Stepanida Freeman on Yelp!!! WOW!!! Pardon my long review... I had been going to another OBGYN, but when my fertility doctor mentioned that I needed surgery to remove my endometriosis before moving on to more treatment, I went back to that OBGYN that I had been seeing for yeaaaaars and they were less than helpful. They literally wouldn't see me till end of June (I believe I called in April... wild right?!). So, I hit up Yelp to see if I could find another OBGYN that I would feel comfortable enough with. I searched and found Empowered OBGYN and Dr. Stepanida Freeman. I made the appointment and they mentioned that she wasn't available that day, but that they would have a nurse practitioner chat with me about the surgery and get it scheduled instead. No problem! They were able to book me an appointment TWO WEEKS from the day I called! Much better than nearly two months!!! I was already so impressed. A week before my appointment, I just went in to fill out some paperwork to have my fertility doctor send over all my documentation to them beforehand so I wouldn't have to repeat myself too much haha. Filled out the paperwork and they actually DID get my records from my fertility clinic. LOVED THAT! I came in for my appointment, and every single staff member was incredible and so kind. As I was waiting for the nurse practitioner to come in, the kind staff member that brought me in to the room popped her head in and said, you know what, the doctor said she has some time, so she's just going to come in and chat with you instead. HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! Dr. Freeman was so nice and she's so soft spoken and makes you feel so comfortable. I loved her demeanor and her knowledge. She explained to me the surgery and said someone would reach out to get me scheduled. She also asked if I wanted a pelvic exam since I was there and I said sure! Seriously so nice. When my surgery came, Dr. Freeman obviously performed it and came and talked with me right before hand. I had looked up photos before of what the incisions looked like for this type of surgery, and was so nervous about having these huge reminders on my stomach. Nope! The incisions were so tiny and I healed pretty quickly. I just went in for my post opp appointment and she walked me through showing photos of what she did during the surgery. Absolutely incredible what she was able to do! She removed a cyst from my ovary and kept it in tact and assured me my ovary was good to go! My husband and I were laughing after at how she was like oh yeah I did this, like it wasn't the most impressive thing either of us have heard haha. One of the things I also loved was that she even remembered the name of my fertility doctor and asked when I was seeing her next. Didn't have to look at records or anything! I appreciated that attention to detail, and truly made me feel like she really knows and cares about me as a patient. You don't find that a lot with doctors these days, and even though it seemed like a minor thing to others, it didn't go unnoticed with me and my husband. She is so caring for her patients! I am so appreciative to Dr. Freeman, and I know if (god willing) /when I am pregnant, I trust her whole heartedly for my pregnancy and delivery. I'm so happy to have found a new OBGYN whom I trust!!! As well as the rest of the staff she has here, they are ALL amazing and kind and incredibly caring! I don't ever feel rushed and it honestly feels like every one of her employees and herself are just truly happy to be there. It makes the worlds difference! read more

This is not for Dr Freeman, this is for her unprofessional office staff. I had an appointment on Monday for my first ultrasound (8 weeks). They called me on Friday to reschedule. I was very frustrated with the scheduling girl, she was kinda laughing at me, somehow my frustration was funny to her. I am so thankful for Dr Freeman. A year ago she delivered our baby. It was just a coincidence that she was a doctor on call that day. And I am so thankful that she was the one! She is very attentive and very carrying. I always feel so much warmth from her. When she opened her own practice- I followed her there. Bed side manners mean so much to me. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about Dr. Freeman. I suffer from infertility/RPL and she has been nothing but so kind and understanding of my situation. Not only did she take the time to answer my questions, explain the situation and offer solutions but she did it with the tenderness I so desperately needed at that time. She's comparable to my OBGYN from Cali. He was very informative and understanding to what my issues/concerns were. She's a busy Dr, but that's how you know she's great! I spent many years with a different OBGYN, and that Doctors office became very Corporate, so a very small error in billing ($22), blocked me from being able to make an appointment, which I would now consider a blessing. I came to Dr. Freeman after knowing that I had one fibroid, and a lot of pain. My first appointment was early May, and by June I knew that I had multiple fibroids and a very large uterus. These are things I should have know from my other doctor. In July Dr. Freeman performed a full hysterectomy on me, and from that discovered that I also had endometriosis. I suffered many years of pain, and now here I am 3 weeks post op. The surgery went perfectly! No bleeding, no pain, other than normal tenderness and I can feel that my body is fully healed. I am so glad that I found her to be my OBGYN. Since the office moved, I had the wrong address and I arrived late to the office as a first time patient . They were very nice about working with me still. I didn't wait long, I had to make a co-pay but that's OK it was totally worth it. She actually listened to my problems, answers my questions and helped with what I needed. She didn't rush me at all. She was super nice and caring and I was able to message her quite a bit over the patient portal when I needed her.She replied pretty quick. Doing a refill with her was easy & quick. 3 months ago I had my first baby. Dr Freeman was helpful and kind during all my pregnancy and delivery. I did not have an insurance. And she was so helpful in explaining how everything works. The office stuff is always so sweet that made me feel super comfortable going there from day 1. She is super knowledgeable and you can tell has a lot of experience. My baby had to be delivered with vacuum assistance and baby's shoulders were stuck during delivery. Dr. Freeman did great. My baby was born healthy and no complications after delivery. I am very thankful to Dr Freeman. And highly recommend her to everyone. read more

I started going to Empowered OBGYN when I was 4 weeks pregnant to get blood work done, as I had a miscarriage in October of 2022. I saw two different nurse practitioners, who were great and I was scheduled to see Dr. Freeman at 8 weeks. At 6 weeks exactly I started spotting at 5 AM, and I felt scared and was unsure what to do. My husband and I talked it out for 30 minutes and I decided to call the office to see if they had an answering service. The woman who answered said Dr. Freeman was on call and would call me back. Dr. Freeman returned my call promptly at 5:45am and I explained what was going on, including my fear of miscarrying again and uncertainty if I just needed a prescription for progesterone. Dr. Freeman responded, "You know, it's not nice for you to call me this early in the morning." I felt shame hearing that and apologized, reiterating I was just scared and didn't know what to do. She then explained that if I was going to miscarry it would happen no matter what, but she would send a prescription for progesterone to my pharmacy "if I have time." I thanked her and told her I would appreciate the prescription. Hours later, my pharmacy still hadn't received a prescription from Dr. Freeman so I reached out to my primary care doctor, who kindly spent a couple hours doing research to find the correct dosage and sent it into my pharmacy. Dr. Freeman never sent in the prescription. I am now past 14 weeks and my baby is doing great! I changed to a new OB in town because I felt dismissed, saddened, ashamed, and fearful due to the way Dr. Freeman handled the situation. I need to be able to trust my OB will help me and my baby in an emergency situation and Dr. Freeman's response did not indicate that she was a provider who was there for me. I'll never know for sure if the progesterone saved my baby's life, but I do know I cannot recommend Dr. Freeman as she did not put forth the effort to help me or my baby in a time of need, and may have allowed my baby to die as a result. I am forever grateful to my primary care doctor (Dr. Tung) who went above and beyond to ensure my baby was safe. read more

In her time of vulnerability when she was feeling symptoms of experiencing a second miscarriage, she was belittled by Stepanida Freeman for using the after-hours on-call number. My daughter has been seeing Dr.Freeman for the past 3 months and each time she sees her my daughter is told different information such as her due date which she couldn't seem to get right which tells me she didn't read her chart. She doesn't make my daughter feel confident enough to deliver her baby and that is concerning. I have witnessed this testimony myself as I was on speaker each time she had a visit. Dr. Freeman literally saved my life (ectopic pregnancy), when other doctors "couldn't fit me in" for a week or even a few weeks, she recognized my symptoms right away as potential ectopic and saw me immediately. She saved me from a severely painful, life-threatening emergency, finding it two to three weeks earlier than most people are able to. After laparoscopic surgery she performed, I was up and about after three days of surprisingly light recovery. She was compassionate and caring, even through the holidays and even through COVID. She is extremely concerned about you as a patient and even emails through the patient portal personally to answer questions, comment on your test results, and soothe your fears/concerns. Now that I'm pregnant, her care in making sure this pregnancy is healthy is so stellar that I can't recommend her highly enough. I have been a patient of Dr Freeman's since spring 2019 and I saw her for irregular periods and pain I was having. At the time I was 46 years old and never had any problems with my periods. From the the very first appointment she was so kind and listened to me and asked me questions and made me feel comfortable. She mentioned a hysterectomy might be what I need. She never rushed me into having it done and suggested other options. For another year I took medications to help with my periods and at times worked and at times didn't, my pain and irregular periods continued. I've had five beautiful kids and the pain was taking over my life every month. So I decided on a hysterectomy which Dr Freeman performed on May 28th. I had my surgery at Henderson Hospital. From start to finish my Dr, nurses and all of the surgical staff were so kind and great to me. My experience was a good one. I stayed over one night in the hospital and I was treated so good and the staff was so kind to me. Today I'm six weeks post Op and I see Dr Freeman today and I'm feeling great.
