From terrible…read moreexperiences during my time in the military to feeling like I was being ripped off from previous dentists, I was very apprehensive finding a new dentist after moving to the Chicagoland area. Ironically, before visiting Woodgroove Family Dentist I had a appointment at another dentist. I walked in and immediately left. The vibe just wasn't right. I could not be happier I made that decision! First of all, Dr. Aloor is fantastic. I enjoy the rapport with not only the Dr., but her entire team. Amanda at the front desk is always a pleasure which is saying a lot because that's my ex-wife's name lol. The feeling I get from the place is empathy. Granted, it is a smaller practice, but I think if you're looking for a flashy ambiance you're probably paying extra for that, but the office has all the modern comforts and technology you'd expect. My first visit was for a routine cleaning and to discuss veneer options. To my amazement Dr. Aloor actually does the cleaning. What doctor does that these days? You can feel the experience and confidence during the cleaning that you don't get many other places. Next, the veneer consultation. I explained to Dr. Aloor that I was interested in doing 6 veneers out of pocket and was ready to move forward. To my astonishment she told me that all I really needed was to replace an old crown and install a new crown on the adjacent tooth, and I would have the smile profile I was looking for with my insurance supplementing most of the cost. What dentist does that? She could have easily taken thousands of my hard earned dollars as I had already committed to veneers and was none the wiser. I knew at that moment I found my new dentist. Lastly, after starting the crown procedure there was an issue at the lab (not the fault of the dentist). They were able to get me in quickly to re-do the impression and give me a new temporary. I'm looking forward to my new smile! If this review comes off like a advertisement I suggest you read some of my other reviews. I'm very critical of any place I spend my money at! I'm happy that as long as I'm in this area I've found my dentist! Give them a try!

I arrived at 4:30, filled out a quick form and was taken back into an exam room. The staff member who took me back was lovely, and got myself and my mother water. I was then told that Dr Zurek had to do a "quick exam" on another patient. Dr Zurek didn't get to me until 5:10pm; he left me sitting for 25 minutes. When he came into the room, he was bombastic and spoke loudly about how he had been having a busy day. I was there to talk about dentures/dental implants. He started by asking me why my teeth were so bad; when I told him that there were issues in both my mother and father's sides of the family with teeth, my explanation wasn't good enough. He began the discussion of my options by asking if the reason my teeth were bad was because I was "lazy or had bad dental hygiene", saying he needed to know in order to best assess what type of dental prosthetic would work for me. During the discussion, I broke into tears at least three times. I really felt that I was being talked down to and judged. Dr Zurek spent a great deal of time touting his expertise and abilities. He suggested a solution that would cost $65,000, although I had mentioned that cost was a concern. I felt zero compassion from him. At one point, I was crying with my head down in the exam chair while he talked with my mother about my options, and I just couldn't take any more of it. When he finally asked me what I thought, I told him that I thought that I needed to leave, took off my dental "bib", got up and grabbed my purse; I walked right out. As I was leaving, he called after me that it was "very important that I be involved in the discussion", but I refused and left the office, going outside and sitting on the practices stairs until my mother followed a few minutes later and we both left. I feel traumatized by this experience, and cannot believe I was spoken to like a naughty child. I am 49 years old and do not need that from someone I am going to for help, with the intention of paying him a large amount of money for his services. I wish there was a rating of "0 stars" because my experience with the doctor was TERRIBLE.

To date I've had no negative issues with treatment, billing etc. so I was surprised to see any negative reviews, but insurance is not the same etc. etc. I can't say anything about the other staff because I've really had no contact other than letting them know, "I am here." I have recommended and will continue to recommend this place as long as I am happy coming here and it takes me 35-45 minutes to get there.

She always takes the time to answer all of my questions and give me her advice, without being pushy about things. She always checks to make sure I am not feeling any discomfort during appointments. Disclaimer: Yes...I am the one that sent JPGs of ALL of our Dental x-rays from the past 4 years prior to our visit. You know... to "cover all bases" We were referred to Dr. Ann from friends who live next door to us in Wheaton. The hubby & I both work in the city so, although we are now "suburbanites", we were iffy about trading in our usual dentist with Saturday hours for Dr. Ann & the Tower Dental staff. Well we gave them a shot... AND WE WILL BE BACK :) Dr. Ann & staff were AMAZING! They fit us both in at the same time so we had a 'kill two birds with one stone' / double date night Dental visit. I had Dr. Ann for my cleaning. She was attentive, personable, and genuinely cared about my well being. Of course I did get the friendly lecture about flossing (I promise I am, Dr. Ann!) - she does it because she cares!
