I've been going to this office since early 2018. The people I usually have contact with are Mindy, the hygienist. It feels more like visiting a friend then a hygienist. She does a great job. The Dentist, Douglas, is thorough and did a great job on some work I needed. Christina, the last person you see, she's always been lovely and knows her job. To date I've had no negative issues with treatment, billing etc. so I was surprised to see any negative reviews, but insurance is not the same etc. etc. I can't say anything about the other staff because I've really had no contact other than letting them know, "I am here." I have recommended and will continue to recommend this place as long as I am happy coming here and it takes me 35-45 minutes to get there. read more

Dishonest and scammy business!!! I was given an estimate for a cavity filling. They originally gave me a price which I agreed to.... but after services were complete, they later sent a bill for an ADDITIONAL $250 For one filling! This is with my insurance- they verified price with my insurance before I had my cavity filled. Avoid this dental office!!! read more

I have been going to Chang Dental since it was run out of the Chang's home. I believe I had to been around 12 years old when I first started seeing Dr Barb. I'm now almost 40 and every time I attempt to go to a new dentist I'm either vastly overcharged or the work done is less than perfect and they end up fixing the shotty work. Dr. Doug, who was a childhood friend of mine, is now my primary dentist and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way! I drive all the way from Chicago to see him and he's been nothing but the best! I HIGHLY recommend this dental practice. The Chang's are the kindest people you will ever meet, and take a lot of pride in the work they perform. Don't pass this place up! So, Douglas (office manager) I hope you read this review. I am in the market for a new dentist. This one has great reviews and is convenient. You only have one chance to make a good first impression, that did not happen here. The person who answered the phone needs to work on her people skills. Sorry to put you out for having to make you answer the phone. I asked if they were accepting new patients, after some hesitation she responded in the affirmative. So, I had read a little about each dentist on their website and said I would like to make an appointment with a specific dentist. My bad, Then she wanted to know "why"? Really, I have to justify making an appointment. She also informed me that the doctor would not be able to help me. She wanted to know what I needed done. I don't need anything done, I just want to make an appointment. She asked my availabilities, I am retired and flexible. I was offered an appointment 5 weeks away. Seriously?? Nothing any sooner.? I was told this is a hygienist schedule thing. Then I asked her name, since she had neglected to answer the phone and identify herself. I am glad others have been able to get an appointment and find these dentists do good work. I won't have the chance to find out. I decided to go to this place after seeing good reviews. But the service was just ok for a routine cleaning. Then my 2nd appointment came up after 6 months and I couldn't make it. When I called to reschedule, the person answered the phone simply told me that their next available date is 3 months from now, then she paused, without asking any question or giving me the date/time. It seemed like she didn't expect me to make any appointment and just go somewhere else, because "it will take 3 months"... Apparently they don't need my business because they are already very busy, I think I will find a better dentist office with more flexible schedules and better services in the area. read more

Whole staff is very friendly and welcoming. I have seen them on a consistent basis now and have found them to be very thorough with their care from the beginning. Routine visits are always in and out with little to no waiting. I highly recommend them for all your dental hygiene needs! read more

Second PROBLEM office manager forgot to waive a charge that the doctor never told me would NOT be covered by insurance!! OK, I've struggled with writing this updated review but feel it necessary to do so in order for people to be aware of how dentists in the US push mercury fillings as no big deal. I still gave them 4 starts because if someone isn't concerned about mercury, they will love this office. But in my opinion, everyone needs to research this issue and how it appears the American Dental Association hasn't been forthcoming with all the health effects of mercury fillings (aka silver, aka amalgams). Chang Dental is one of the best dentist offices I've found and am so disappointed that I won't be using their services because of the mercury issue. For my family, mercury in the office air and in my mouth is just not acceptable. I went to Chang Dental for 2 cleanings and exams. I had a few old amalgam fillings that needed to be replaced because my teeth were cracked. That is the thing about Amalgams...overtime they don't hold up, leech mercury into your body and can lead to cracked teeth. This is what happened to me. After my last cleaning and exam, I spoke with one of the dentists (he was I believe Dr Chang's son). He was very nice and professional. However, when I asked for more information about mercury (I told him about some of my health issues I was concerned about) and he assured me about their safety. I asked why dentists in Europe and other places around the world are not allowed to utilize mercury. He really couldn't have a conversation around it at all. This lead me to believe he really didn't know - he only had one side of the story (the ADA's side). I had done a TON of research on the issue for well over a year and after my recent pregnancy loss at 5 months, I decided I needed to get to the root cause of my autoimmune health issues. I read 2 books by dentists on the danger of mercury as well as spent hours every week reading everything possible on the subject. I felt slighted by the dentist at Chang Dental for just disregarding my concerns by saying, 'well the brochures I read from the ADA say mercury is safe'. It has been months and I still cannot get that to stop replaying in my mind! I feel these dentists are putting their own health in danger as well as the patients (and other patients and staff in the office) every time someone is having old amalgam (silver) fillings removed without the proper precautions like a rubber damn and ozone. I do not want my daughter in this environment and have found a mercury-free dentist. I actually spent the same amount at a mercury-free dentist ...so people who believe you have to pay more for non-mercury is a fallacy (at least in my experience). Some people may not care about or believe in the dangers of mercury (aka amalgam fillings....aka silver filings)....and if this is so, you will like Chang Dental. The staff is nice and the office environment is friendly. I just cannot get past the mercury issue and worry about my health and my family's health by just being in the office knowing mercury remnants are in the air. I am so glad I have all the mercury out of my mouth and hopefully can start to resolve some of my health issues. I truly feel that mercury has no place in dentist offices. Based on my experience and research, mercury is a neurotoxin and does not belong in the body. read more

I actually enjoy going to this dentist! I recently moved to the area and chose Chang Dental because it was near my house and in my dental insurance plan. Everyone was very friendly and Dr. Doug was very knowledgeable and gentle. He spent extra time to answer all of my questions and I felt very well taken care of. I definitely recommend this office and will continue to be a patient as long as I live in the area. My only tip is to definitely book early. The earliest appointment I could get that fit in my schedule was almost a month out, but it was worth the wait. I only needed a routine dental check-up so I'm sure I could have gotten in earlier if I had something more pressing. read more

I was referred to Chang dental by my co-worker who takes his family (wife + 3 children) here for their teeth. I'm always pleased with how they address any problems. They notify me if there are issues that I need to keep an eye out for, or give me suggestions on how to prevent problems from getting worse. I've been to dentists who try to push you to do everything (very old school shyster mechanic feeling), and Chang is not one of them. I usually see Dr. Doug, who has always been able to answer my questions, no matter how technical. Or, more importantly (in my opinion) he has said he didn't know the answer off the top of this head and was willing to look up the information and get back to me.
