Seriously, some studios are really great at ballet or hip hop and just okay at others - at Steppin Out they have fabulous teachers across the board.

Not only have they grown tremendously as dancers, but they've also grown into more confident, kind, and hardworking young people. The teachers genuinely care about each child and are so intentional about helping them become the best dancers -- and the best people -- they can be. The CCT is wonderful and so friendly. They create such a positive, welcoming environment for families. They are organized, approachable, and always willing to help, which makes everything run so smoothly. As a parent, it brings so much peace of mind knowing our girls are part of such a supportive and well-run community. My older daughter has had the opportunity to be a demonstrator, and it has been such a special experience for her. She loves having the little girls look up to her, and it has helped her grow in leadership and confidence in such a meaningful way. The studio also provides so many amazing performance opportunities, which has helped both of my girls build confidence and shine on stage. Along the way, they've made lasting friendships and memories we will cherish forever. We are beyond grateful for everything Take Five Dance Academy has poured into our family. It is truly a special place. We look forward to many more years with Take Five Dance Academy!

Over the years, Take Five has done so much more than teach her how to dance. They have helped mold her into the confident, disciplined, kind, and hardworking young woman she is today. The teachers genuinely care about each dancer--not just about technique, but about character, leadership, and responsibility. Through competitions, performances, late-night rehearsals, and countless classes, she has learned commitment, teamwork, and resilience. The staff has always created a positive, encouraging environment while still pushing the dancers to be their very best. Watching her grow from a tiny 3-year-old in a tutu to a strong, dedicated 17-year-old leader has been one of the greatest blessings, and Take Five has been a huge part of that journey. This studio is truly a second home and a second family. If you are looking for a place where your child will grow not only as a dancer but as a person, Take Five Dance Academy is it. We are forever grateful.

Our experience there was awful, we…read moregot there and no one said anything for the first few minutes then the lady seating at the desk finally said that her class was in the other studio/room, but never said where the other room was, after a few minutes a girl told us that the other studio was across the parking and walks us there, she told us we couldn't be there and told us that we could wait at the lobby where we was, that there was a TV to watch what was happening if we wanted to. We went back to the lobby to watch on the TV and they didn't help my little one at all, she was there exited to try ballet and all they did was stretch and then have her sit on the side because they were preparing for a recital, which is understandable to a degree. But, if you know you can't help new costumers, Why would you allow them to make new appointments? When the class was over "NO ONE" and I mean "NO ONE" approached us to see if we had any questions for anything, not the instructor, the helper, the lady at the lobby, no one called, nothing. I grabbed my daughter and left. Would not recommend that place to anyone for anything at all. My experience was one to forget and definitely not to ever consider going back. We tried a different place that is close by (maybe a mile down the road) and the experience was the complete opposite... period full stop.

I thought they might…read moreteach him some skills or different drawing techniques but it really was just him sitting in a classroom drawing next to other children. This may be helpful if your child doesn't have time to draw but for any blossoming artist who spends hours of their own time sitting and drawing there isn't any value to this time at Kat's verses being at home. I'm not sure the "teacher" has any sort of special training; actually i don't think I ever even saw the teacher or had any feedback from him/her(?) in the 4 months we attended. During this time I saw no change in skill or ability from this class. He didn't particularly enjoy it either. It seemed that the front desk assistant frequently taught the class which started late and ended early regularly. My son benefited from the Young Rembrandt's program at his school more than this program and YR, for the most part, just taught him how to shade. So the bar wasn't set extremely high. This school also requires a registration fee ($60) to even try any of the classes and also requires a credit card on file which they cannot update except in person. There isn't any online account management.. They don't allow for over the phone changes and their withdrawal policy is also very strict so we ended up paying for a month we didn't want. They also sent my credit card information entire number, expiration date, ccv code, address and full name (!) in clear text VIA EMAIL unencrypted which is very very horrendous security policy for a company who requires this information be provided. They are not obviously not PCI compliant so I'd be wary of providing them this information. They aren't particularly nice or friendly either. We won't be back.

Can you spare about 30 minutes for experiencing a mini-buffet of Opera? "Opera for Lunch" is for…read moreyou then! They had little tables where you could set your box lunch if you ordered in advance or just bring your own. You could tell this was a very casual event and fortunately most people finished their meal before the two performers began, but there was still some paper rustling and chip crunching so maybe quieter food in quieter packaging would help in the future ;) I loved how before the performance the garage door style wall was up so we had plenty of fresh air and light, and I was impressed with the screen image of curtains on the stage which as you can see in the pictures, really gave an excellent trompe l'oeil effect! On January 28, 2026, Sam Krausz (tenor),Yichen Xue (baritone), and Wan-Ting Yu (pianist) were all superb, and Yichen Xue was a real hoot as he really got into his role in the Così fan tutte piece where he is trying to convince a woman that he is the best man for her so he flexed his muscles and mimed reading a book, and showed how he could dance and sing. Not all pieces had adequate introductory information which was too bad as it is crucial since there were no projected subtitles as we had hoped. The online program just listed the songs and which opera they were from, but didn't even give an English translation or any helpful context for the song, so I think that should be considered for the future. It would also be a great encouragement to attend their big production if they could have one piece from it, even if it's just some piano music to tease people into attending. Perhaps they could also offer a little perk like a 1/2 price drink at Symphony Hall if you show you attended the Opera for Lunch production. Cultivating new patrons with little perks is always a good idea.

I appreciated how they had multiple sign language interpreters, as well as overhead subitites in English and Spanish. My daughter had a lovely time and enjoyed the show. She said she enjoyed hearing the singing and the opera singers really do have amazing voices. Before and after the show there is a crafts activity. For this year they had a decorate your own hand drum and there was also a goody bag to take back which had a sweet treat, a music toy, lanyard and a few small fidget toys. The only negative is that there might be a lot of road closures if another event is going on downtown and the parking lot is a little small so it can fill up easily.
