War Front

Visiting Claiborne Farm was fun and educational. We did the walking tour with one of the handlers who gave us great knowledge about the Thoroughbred racing industry and some of the farm's famed horses such as Secretariat, Round Table, Mr. Prospector, and more. We had the chance to see some of the current stallions such as Silver State, Blame, and War Front. It was so cool to see some of these majestic stallions right in front of us and even pet/feed a few! We of course had to pay our visit to the cemetery and see some of the legends. It's very apparent that Claiborne Farm loves their horses and cares for them deeply. It's a beautiful piece of property as well.

Over twenty years since my first visit to Claiborne Farm, and numerous since then, it remains a place of historical significance. They have been keepers of the land, the horses and the sport for over a century, and continue to be stewards to this day with the fourth generation of the Hancocks at the helm. One of the greatest horses of all time, Secretariat stood at the farm, along with many others famous for their exploits on the racetrack. 118

Amazing place where amazing horses are bread and trained. The tour is reasonably priced and the tour guide is great and knowledgeable and knows how the handle the horses. We got to see the horses up close, feed them mints and pet them. The tour was 1 hour and really nice

A great experience, the farm is beautifully maintained, and our guide, extremely knowledgeable. We learned about the horses and the elaborate processes which goes into the development of world class champion racehorses. We also had a chance to visit with some of the beautiful horses touch them pat them give them treats ! A wonderful morning HIGHLY recommended!

Petting a Claiborne Farm horse

A great hands-on tour of a working horse farm. The tour is given by someone actually working the farm rather than a tour guide. We were running a few minutes late. I emailed them and they responded right away and were able to integrate us to our tour upon arrival. Secretariat's legacy is safe with Claiborne Farm.

The Claiborne Farm is one of the pre eminent horse racing breeders on the world. The Farm is over 3,000 acres and home to a number of great stallions and broodmares to consistently produce winners. Upon arriving at the visitor center and gift shop we immediately left for our walking tour at the posted time. BE SURE TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION IN ADVANCE...walk-ins are not accepted. Our host was very friendly, knowledgeable and provided a wealth of informatiom about the farm, the breeding process and many of the famous horses produced on the farm. We toured the breeding house, stables, cemetery where the likes os Secretariat are buried. We got ip close and personal with a couple of the horses including War Front. If you are in the area and looking for a fun and unique experience I highly recommend.

We had a beautiful morning at Claiborne Farms. The tour was extremely interesting and we walked the grounds. We were able to see where the horses were bred, along with seeing some of the horses. We learned all about the background of how much it costs to operate a working horse farm and the history of the farm. The gift shop was amazing and we spent over a half an hour looking for a nice souvenir of our wonderful day. My Mom. Sister, and I all got matching Secretariat t-shirts. We are planning on wearing them while we watch the Preakness tomorrow. This t-shirt is black and will go with jeans or stretch pants. I also got a pair of silver earrings that were horse stirrups. They were so cool I can't wait to wear them. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience and great tour. We absolutely loved it and the weather was perfect.

Can't recommend this tour enough. Came to see the former stall and grave of Secretariat and left with so much more. Our tour guide, Rodeo, was AWESOME and made the entire tour for us. He's not just a tour guide btw - the tour is led by the people who do everything for these horses. In other words, they know their business.

Beautiful spot to learn and see something new. Levi was a fantastic tour guide, patiently answered ALL of our questions, and shared more tidbits than my brain could hold. We were able to pet some horses and feed them peppermints, as well as tour their stables and cemetery.

Fantastic tour!! The farm is nestled in the rolling hills of horse country. Joe, the tour guide, was so knowledgeable about the horses, the history of the farm, and the complete pedigree of all the horses. I can not believe I was able to pet Orb and War Front, give a peppermint candy to Blame, see Secretariat's stall, and see Secretariat's grave! Definitely a must see!

Absolutely amazing tour to see true thoroughbred stallions, I got to pet and enjoy many derby winners and see the home of Secretariat, Seabiscuit, War Horse and many other Triple Crown Winners. Doug was our guide and he was an exceptional and very knowledgeable Stallion manager with a great sense of humor. One of their Stallions currently has the highest stud fee at 300,000. Beautiful farm, would go again. They have a cute gift shop on scene too!

We were able to see 5 stallions up close and personal, and seeing Secretariat's grave was very emotional.

Whether you're here for the historic harness racing, the gaming floor, or just a fun night out, the energy is always lively without ever feeling overwhelming. The staff could have been a bit more friendly and helpful. I had a few questions since it was my first time and they acted like it was inconvenient to answer them. Thus, the four star review. The facility is clean, easy to navigate, and has plenty of options for food, drinks, and entertainment. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, relax, and enjoy yourself for a few hours. Between the racing, the gaming, and the great service, The Red Mile is a Lexington classic that's well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back.

At first we did ok but here are a few things I have noticed: 1. They make it confusing to enter drawings. (+You have to spend $$$ before you can) 2. They have now limited your free cash and it has to be spent in 7 days or you lose it. 3. The front desk has some staff members that can be rude. 4. The games are very tight and we have heard others complain. 5. What used to be a fun outing is no longer fun :( I think we will now save up to go elsewhere which is a shame because this is closer but I think if the perks were better we would still be going. :/.

We gathered with the other guests, warming up in the office before heading out. For us humans, the weather was a bit much, but the horses absolutely loved it. One thing that really impressed me was how interactive the experience was. We weren't limited to standing behind a fence--we were able to feed the horses carrots and admire them up close. It made the visit feel personal and unforgettable. About halfway through, we stopped in the barn to watch a short film about the farm's history and mission--an informative (and very welcome!) break from the snow. Afterward, we ventured back out to meet the remaining horses. Despite the chilly weather, we had a wonderful time. If you love animals or just want a unique, heartfelt experience, this tour is absolutely worth it.
