The IRS had contacted me regarding a refund for my Mom's Trust and required "court papers", (that generic). I reached Sterbick and Assoc. I met John (Sterbick) and Marlene (Robinson) at the office. It was decided that a standard Probate would satisfy the IRS' request for a "court document". I worked with Marlene from there. She had papers for me to sign in around a weeks time, when I went to sign she explained each page of each document so that I understood the full scope of what was happening, needed to happen and what will finish out the process and time it would take. Don't let the smile full you. I want everyone to know that John Sterbic charged me $1500 for writing a letter to the IRS. When I asked for refund, he said that he will not give it to me. He charges $395 an hour. He charged me $1500 an hour. I feel cheated. The Universal Law of Justice will punish him. He will have to face the consequences with the Karmic Law. I don't know how he can sleep at night. Please find a lawyer that is honest instead of this one. read more

Our experience with Mr. Sterbick was bizarre. We had a simple case where the IRS was billing us for an amount we already paid them. Phone calls trying to explain the situation to their friendly agents did nothing (I know, how odd, right?). They kept dunning us, then said they were going to garnish our wages. Going after our house was next on their list. So there I was, not a bit worried and alarmed. Forty minutes into the consultation, I realized he thought we needed basic tax help. I explained that we knew how to file our taxes--the issue was that the IRS was in the wrong, and we needed to start a dispute process. He said, "The IRS is in the wrong?" Stunned, as if he had never seen a client where the IRS had made a mistake. Anyway, we paid his retainer and sent him all the documentation he asked for. Fast forward two months: nothing. He doesn't reply to emails, so we call his office. His response is basically: "Hi, who are you again? What was your problem? Oh wait a minute, I'll check and get back to you..." He never did. Rinse and repeat for a few months. My husband said we should give him another chance before cutting him loose. I called his office number, only to discover that he had apparently BLOCKED my phone number. I called again from a different line. He picked up and said there was a problem with "the server" at his office. I'm like, huh? Who has a phone line connected to a server? Did he lose Hillary Clinton's emails too? Mr. Sterbick's last words to us were: "I never said I would go to bat for you with the IRS. I'm just keeping your stuff on file." LOL, what? We canceled our case. This guy is either massively incompetent or he's unethical. I'm uneasy that he has all our personal and financial details. We're out the retainer fee, but thank goodness we didn't give him any more money. Avoid. read more

This guy seems to be both a con man and has some mental problems to boot. He contacted me 3 times through mail wanting my business on a tax problem I had which he found in public records. I called him and told he was not available and to scheduled a time to talk on phone as I am disabled and can not drive to meet at his office. He finally called me back days later and after 2 minutes of me telling him what the problem was he put me on hold and did not come back on the phone, finally after 5 minutes on hold someone working for him took down my info and said he would get back to me soon. Two months go by and he calls me up and starts talking like he is drunk or on drugs and laughing at me bec I told him I had dementia and he is talking about stuff unrelated to my case which made me think this guy has some problems. Long story short after how he has treated me and never once talking about how he would help me I would never ever refer this quack to anyone, in fact I am thinking about calling the bar and reporting him.
