Do not recommend. This is the first time in my life I have ever written a review. I made this Yelp account to write this review. I don't know if I am doing this correctly, but I would honestly advise against using Sterling. I made an appointment months in advance because I was struggling with depression and wanted to pursue getting antidepressant medication in addition to diet, exercise, and therapy. I confirmed my appointment two days in advance, signed my forms digitally, and was glad about getting help for my condition. They responded to my confirmation with an additional message, so my confirmation was confirmed. Thirty minutes before my appointment, they let me know it had been cancelled. I called the office to ask why, and perhaps reschedule. I get it. Sometimes physicians get sick or have a family emergency. That would have been totally okay and I could have done the appointment another time. The receptionist pretty rudely informed me that my would-be psychiatrist quit a month ago, and that she was no longer with Sterling. I told her that was a bit confusing for me as the patient, because they still confirmed my appointment. She responded to this negatively as well, and when I asked about scheduling with another physician, she said that would be not likely or not possible because Sterling only has one psychiatrist and he is far too booked up. I really needed help with my depression, and I wish that Sterling hadn't given me what was basically a fake appointment. I also wish they weren't so rude when I was following up looking for care. If I had known my physician quit, or that the appointment wasn't happening, I could have gotten treatment somewhere else. Now, I am still in need of medical advice regarding my depression, but I'll likely have to wait a few more weeks to get advice somewhere else while my condition worsens. I can't speak for every physician or every patient experience, and I am sure that Sterling has some great physicians and patients with great experiences. However, my experience was pretty bad. My advice would be to either get psychiatric care somewhere else, or to pick up the phone and call to confirm appointments, because they'll apparently mislead you about availability and confirmation through both text and email. I love Dr Sanders. I've been going to him for years, and he's kept me alive a couple of times when things got real bad. He doesn't yell at me when I've been bad, like when my cholesterol gets to high, and he praises me when I do good. But, the shot in my heel today really hurt! lol read more

I am very disappointed with my recent visit. I had lab work completed a couple of weeks ago. It had been customary for the results to be mailed to me and if there was anything that needed to be addressed, the doctor would call me. However, this time, more than a week after labs were completed, I received a call from " someone" at Sterling requesting me to come in to " discuss" my labs though nothing was emergent. I asked if I could speak to the Nurse Practitioner who had recently been assigned to me due my previous doctor retiring. I was told to call back to speak to her nurse. I did this and received a voice mail on which I left a message asking for a call back to understand why I needed to come into the office. It's challenging for me to get to the doctor due to my travel work schedule. I did not receive a call back. I did go to their office. Drove 35+ minutes Got there early as requested. I was called back promptly. Waited another 20 minutes only to have the NP ask me if there was an issue with my online scheduling. I said no, that this office called me. She seemed confused- no big deal. Then after worrying for 2 weeks as to why she HAD to see me in the office, she tells me my labs are "good". While I'm happy there are no issues... WTH!! I feel there was no regard for my schedule and that this was merely a tactic to be able to bill my insurance for a frivolous office visit. In addition, I was told that it's their policy to see patients every 6 months. I said that was not an option and that I would continue annual visits. Evidently, annual visits are not an option for Sterling and HCA. The NP then said they'd send my records to another physician of my choice. We'll see if my request to fill my current prescriptions will be addressed. Frankly, I'm confident I will have to chase those until I find another doctor. Total disregard for their patients'( customers') time. My one star is generous considering my current experience. read more

Disclaimer: I never got to see the doctor. My rating is based on my experience beforehand; I ended up letting the scheduler know, I would just find someone else. After reading all of the wonderful reviews on Yelp and watching the video of Dr. Nabors, I was relieved to find a new doctor in the area that I could visit with confidence that I wasn't walking into a disaster zone. Visiting the doctor gives me anxiety: I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I love going to the dentist, hate going to the doctor. I signed up for an appointment on the online scheduling system. First impression? Finally a doctor who is in this century! I don't have to call and wait on hold for someone to schedule and appointment. I can do it at my convenience, after hours. By mistake I chose a day that wasn't great so chose a new one resulting in two appointments booked. I called to cancel the first, waited on hold and finally hung up deciding I would call back later - no big deal - not the reason why the review is low. I'm pretty patient and decided I would call when they were less busy. The next morning, a scheduler called me before I could get back with them to settle the appointment mis-schedule on my end. After I explained I screwed up, she then told me she saw that I noted in the online tool that I wanted to speak with the doctor over some medical questions I had been googling for years and thought it was finally time to ask a real doctor, as well as get my annual wellness exam. To my disappointment, she told me that required two different appointments and that policy required me to come in twice and bill insurance twice. I asked for clarification, "You mean the doctor won't answer my questions at my wellness exam?" She replied that addressing my concerns are not a part of a wellness exam and that I did in fact need two separate appointments. Surprised (and kind of disgusted) in the upfront lack of empathy for the reason bringing me into the doctor and my lack of time to go to the doctor twice (as well as having to pay for an additional visit) seemed to fuel some of my reasons for avoiding the doctor all this time in general. The idea that a wellness exam doesn't included answering questions about my wellness is disheartening. It's a shame policies like this exist in the American medical system. read more

Been a patient for 2 years, my original Doctor (Dr. Limbaugh) was very caring a excellent doctor. Unfortunately she left and I was switched to Dr. Macmillin. I made a appointment with him. After waiting 45 minutes pass my appointment time I left. I find it very rude and disrespectful not to honor a appointment time...if your running late let your patients know...we have lives also. read more

I almost have to give it 4 stars. I have been here for 20 years since we moved here and when we move away and come back. Have had my MD. Dr. Vargas for 20 years. We grew up together. He gets me and my quirks. Love the nursing staff and they are always patient with me when I call and request something. A Nurse is an awful patient, I fit that title to a T. My only issue is the wait. It is a not a come and you will be seen. This place moves a lot of people. Come earlier than your appointment, do NOT be late, you will wait. I don't like that part at all, but I can't leave my PCP now. I had a physical recently and was called the next day very thorough. Parking can be tricky, but they have a valet. read more

This clinic is all about money.... First off they will charge you for a physical if you discuss any issues about your health outside of normal "physical" They repeated send low value invoice $7 instead of waiting for my next visit. I am talking months of invoices for $7! If they are that desperate for money there is a problem. I also overheard an elderly patient being told without a co payment of $15 she could not be seen. The lady explained that she had already paid her bills for the month and would pay as soon as she was invoiced. When you resort to bullying elderly patients on fixed incomes over $15 I would say you care about MONEY OVER PATIENTS. The poor woman was seen as an exception this one time and told it was only this once. My last and final visit was a disaster see below. I have been a primary care patient for years with no complaints. I had not been satisfied with my last physical but I didn't want to go to the trouble of switching doctors. Come this March I notice a knot on my head that is sensitive. I called and scheduled and appointment at 8 am. The soonest available was at 1:30 and not with an MD. I am not a doctor but while I was there I asked if they could just look at my sinuses (as I always suffer from allergy congestion). I wait OVER 90 minutes to see this so called "medical professional". He supposedly can't find the knot on my head. I tell him the easiest way is to feel the area on both sides of my head and feel the anomaly. He refused to touch both sides of my head and I don't think he ever saw the knot. He then went on to say a bacterial infection could cause a swollen lymph node and prescribed and antibiotic. I do NOT believe I ever had an infection and I think he just prescribed something to get me out the door (after waiting over 90 minites)! I filled the prescription and started that night and my head was getting worse that evening. The next day I went to work and my head was still throbbing and I felt nauseous. I did eat some crackers and bland food to take the medicine. Around noon I became worse and started throwing up and called the office. I got home and had not received a call so I treated myself with Excedrin and Promethazine. I was called back on Friday with a question from the one that saw me. On Monday MY doctor's nurse finally called and offered an appointment and I declined. I am sure they would have been happy if I came in and they got to charge insurance again. After addressing the issue with the clinic manager and explaining the experience as well as why I feel I should not receive a bill for this SUB PAR medical care. They refused to make this issue right even though it was a complete misdiagnosis and treatment which was taken care of by a competent physician. read more

I have been trying to get an appointment with Dr. Cheryl Nabors for 2 months. Every time I call they ask the same questions, name and insurance and said they will give the information to her and she'll review it and they'll call us back and let us know if she's going to accept me as a patient. This has been 2.5 months and no response from her. Not sure of what is going on but seems like they pick and choose who they want as a patient. Sad with our medical world today. read more

I've been attending Sterling Primary Care for years, seeing Dr. Cheryl Nabors. She has been the best Primary Care Physician that I have ever seen. Helpful, attentive, remembers what i need, and how to best work with me. The nurses are great and helpful. I highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a Primary Care Physician, whether your sick, or just trying to find someone to do your yearly physical. read more

I scheduled my appointment in May 2018 for November 29, 2018. I was contacted 10 days prior to my appointment and told that the appointment was canceled. When I asked "why?", I was told that the doctor isn't taking new patients! I've been a patient at this practice for 25+ years....so I'm confused as to their definition of "new patient." I don't really like going to the doctors. Seems like the just rush in and then prescribe some anti biopics and never followup. Not Dr. Lickey. I came in and they got me back to my room before i could even finish all my paper work. The nurses were very friendly and in great moods. The doctor came in very quickly and spent nearly an hour with me trying to figure out what was wrong. The staff there is super friendly and always gets me in and out of my appointments quickly. I love how they use an online portal to post lab results and comments. After a bad experience with St. Thomas Hospital, both with billing and physician services, I decided I needed something better or just stop using medical services until I visit an emergency room. I did a lot of research using Yelp and physician grading services and narrowed my choices down to several. I actually scheduled a visit with another new internist but when I called his office, I had such a bad experience with the staff (they seemed they were put out with me even calling), I decided to cancel that appointment and select another on the list, which happened to be Dr. Nabors. I have had nothing but a 5 star experience with Sterling and Dr. Nabors. The insurance and billing was a breeze and ALL handled in the same office (unlike St. Thomas where you are walking halls between billing, doctors and labs, which is an experience unto itself. No complaints at all here! Waiting time, negligible. Dr. Nabors is really a good physician with an excellent "bedside manner." I really feel that she cares about my health and actually takes the time to listen and discuss my situation and answer questions. I referred a dear friend to her and she reported an excellent experience as well (she had avoided doctors for years because of an earlier bad episode) and I plan to have my son visit her as well. She is a good and genuine person besides just being an excellent physician. read more

I was a new patient seeing Dr. Lickey at the Centennial office, and I had an excellent experience. There were no problems with check-in, and my wait time was minimal. Nurse Mary got me settled in the exam room and took time to listen carefully to my reasons for being there. She also asked me, as I was leaving my appointment, to call her if I needed anything. Dr. Lickey paid excellent consideration to the health issues I explained, and he asked lots of questions to get more detail. Dr. Macmillan is awesome! I am really glad my insurance suggested him. He actually sat and talked to me about my concerns for a solid 30 min. Who does that? Great personality right off the bat. He was attentive, listened to the laundry list of concerns I had built up over the years and explained what was going on in a way I could totally understand. Been seeing Dr Vargas for several years now along with my Mother. Both of us have had stellar service. Everyone in the office is patient, available and takes to the time eplain everything to you and make you feel comfortable. On occassion you might have to wait a lfew minutes but you will appreciate that time when you need to take extra time with him but my last visit I was called in just after I sat down. Tip, at the Centennial office use the valet parking or you will drive in the parking lot forever. read more

After reading reviews of Dr. Nabors I felt that this practice would be a good fit for me. My current doctor is closing her practice and I needed a new physician. Sadly, the administrative person I first talked to totally took all the good feeling away pretty quickly. She lacked the listening skills needed in that position and kept talking over me as I was asking my questions. I had to ask her twice to wait a minute or slow down. My descriptive word for her would be haughty. Almost like a real snob. ?? She told me that they would call me back once the doctor reviewed my request When I asked her what did that mean she didn't know what the doctor did but review my name and insurance. If the doctor didn't want Medicare or new patients I would think her online profile would reflect that information as some profiles do. Two weeks to decide? I spent a lot of time researching for a new doctor and wouldn't have wasted my time calling if they had let me know that up front. I called back today to check on this request and the same individual said they had not been advised of acceptance. I think I had already decided to go with some other physician but I was curious what the problem was. The lady said when they had an answer they would call me back. An hour or so later another person called and told me Dr. Nabors was not accepting any additional Medicare patients. Would it not have been professional to just simply tell me on that first call that they were not accepting any new patients? This less than satisfying encounter convinced me, regardless, that this Sterling Primary Care is not for me. I believe in professionalism and courtesy to everyone and it's not here. read more

After a bad experience at Vandy, went to Dr. MacMillan last December. Yes, I did have to wait a while to see him, but this is because he actually takes time to speak with you and learn all there is about your medical history. He has concern and care for his patients, and just isn't trying to get you out the door so he can see and bill as many patients as possible. I went back for a follow-up last week, and had the same good experience. So, if you want a cookie-cutter Doctor who is on schedule because he/she rushes through your exam, don't go to Dr. M. But, if you want someone who takes time to make you healthier, I highly recommend him. The Sterling office staff at Centennial also makes your visit easy and pleasant. read more

I hate Sterling Primary Care and will be glad to never go back there. I'm a patient of John Shaw's and I just had the weirdest conversation with the people at Sterling on the phone. I got the same letter mentioned below several weeks ago, thought little about it except whoa, Dr. Shaw must have pissed somebody off, and threw it away because I'm a fan of his, patient of his, and will follow him wherever he goes. But that was not factoring in that I might get sick this week and need a prescription. I called up there and they acted like A, he has the plague and B, I should see a doctor in that practice and C, only when I pressed her did she give me the new number for Dr. Shaw and D, she refused to make me an appointment with him. Only after I said "So you're saying I cannot get an appt. with Dr. Shaw no matter what" because she'd said there wouldn't be anyone at the new number yet did she FINALLY agree to transfer me to his nurse that I've known for the three or so years I've been his patient. I left her a voice-mail, she called me right back and now I know what to do. (A prescription will be waiting for me at CVS.) STAY AWAY from Sterling Primary Care but if you want a good doctor go see Dr. Shaw. He starts seeing patients at his own place April 1. read more
