Years ago, I took my new (to me) truck into Steve's and they serviced it for me. It was the first time I had serviced it. 3 weeks later, I was driving home from work and had to pull over by my vehicle WAS ON FIRE. They put transmission fluid in my brake fluid. It melted that system, damaged my truck, and burnt up my 4 rear tires (it was a dually). Progressive and the body shop I took it to for repair told me what had happened and even estimated how long ago that oil change had happened. I called Steve and they told me that they weren't paying for anything bc they don't touch the fluids during a service job (bs- they definitely do). Progressive had to go after them. Now that I am home and have a belly full of tacos, I will leave my review and experience with the guys at Steve and Son's Tire. Around 4:30 this afternoon as I was leaving Wichita heading out in 254 East I had a blow out on my semi trailer. Immediately pulled over and called my dispatch and made him aware of the situation. Long story short there, he found a place that could get me in, provided I made it there before them closing up shop at 5:30, Steve and Son's Tire. In the process of limping in, the tire remnants also busted the site glass in my hub on the other axle and hub oil was just pouring out. Steve met me at the entrance and quickly assessed the situation. He had me pull around and back up to the shop, guided by one his guys, Josh. I had no sooner popped my air brakes and those guys went straight to work. They assured me they could take care of the tire but the hub seal, well...... As Clayton and Josh got to work on the tire, a couple of the other guys quickly got on the phone and started calling around to various auto part places trying to find something to get me back on the road. Shredded tore was off, new one back on lickety split!!! All of the sudden, Travis pulls up and he has he sacred part that is the key to me getting back under way. Swap em out, get filled up with hub oil and clean any obvious sign of a malfunction, anybody that fears DOT understands, and I was on my way. Those guys could have said sorry, we're done for the day and told me to wait for the calvary, but didn't, they were the calvary. I apologize if I got there names mixed up or I heard them wrong. In my state of confusion and despair, I might have misheard. If you run into Clayton, buy a couple of candy bars off of him, it's for the kids! read more

We were traveling through in our RV and had leaky tires. These guys took our RV right away and not only checked and fixed the problem but checked all the tires for us. My wife and kids were driving from Houston, TX to Minneapolis, MN when oil started leaking from the van. These guys fixed our van first thing in the morning and was very reasonable with the price. We had 2 flat tires on our trailer. One had failed on the road, and we'd put the spare on, then another tire blew. (Who knew that traveling Interstate 35 could be so hazardous?) We limped into a Walmart parking lot and set up for the night. Walmart doesn't do tire repairs. The nice lady recommended Steve & Son's Tire. We called the next morning at 7:30 and left a message. Promptly at 8:00, Bob called. Yes, he could come to us. Yes, he could try to repair the tires. Yes, he had trailer tires in case ours couldn't be repaired. At 8:30 he was there with his truck. He removed the tires, took them to the shop, tried to fix the one that looked fixable (the other had a hole in the sidewall and couldn't be saved) and then, when the holes were too extensive, called to check with us. We ended up buying 2 new heavy-duty tires from him at a reasonable price. By 10:00 a.m. he was back and our new tires were on the trailer. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Bob was prompt, polite, friendly, informative and competent. He even used a torque wrench to check the lug nuts! (Oh, and he liked our dog. :-) ) Nobody likes having to deal with flat tires, but if you have to and you're in El Dorado, I recommend this place without reservation. read more

The customer service was great! The men in the shop were polite and helpful, and I was pleased with how clean the place was, especially for an automotive shop. I was not happy with the price I paid for the service, however. The rate was almost three times more than I paid for an identical service at another shop in town about six months ago. I should have asked for a quote before having the work completed, but I never imagined it would be so drastically different. Overall, just make sure you get a quote on whatever you want done before having the work finished. read more

I was quoted a price of 350 dollars to replace a starter on my kia rio after we took our car there. The price seemed quite high so I asked my wife to call around for a better price. She found another place in town that would charge us 50 dollars if we brought in a new starter to put in. So we decided to get it done there instead of Steve and sons. Well Steve and sons decided to charge us a fifty dollar diagnostic fee even though we told him we needed a new starter before we ever even brought it there. I was told that we would be charged the 50 dollars even if it only took 3 minutes to diagnose. Basically I feel like they stole 50 bucks from me and I had nothing to show for it. I informed them that I had done business with them several times before and that I would not be back again. They seemed like they could care less, which was just another slap in the face. read more
