I am counting the months to refinance! The customer service here is the worst I have ever dealt with in the past 20 years. Caliber Home Loans prides themselves in how the take care of disabled vets, yet their level of service does not suit mediocrity. Issue: Caliber Home Loans is billing the incorrect amount for in escrow for taxes. NV bills quarterly for taxes. Caliber Home Loans is taking the quarterly payment monthly. So lets say your taxes are $2400 annual, per month that would equal $200 and quarterly $600. Imagine paying your quarterly taxes every month. My actions Contacted reps 3 times over the phone. The gem and pride of Caliber Home Loans, their second rep asked that I contact Caliber Home Loans with respect to my request through the mail. Pretend this is you...overcharged and now asked to communicate through the postal service during a pandemic when money isn't exactly flowing in like a rapid river. So here I am...I've had to send three certified letters asking to drop my taxes from payment because Caliber Home Loans was not "escrowing" the correct amount and the terms for my loan allow me to drop this. First letter went to the customer service address that their wonderful representative provided me. Second & Third letter went to their Customer Service department (again) and their Corporate office for awareness. The letters sent were certified in case I need to battle with the three credit bureaus, I am prepared. How many of you have had to run through this level of effort with a mortgage company? I hope zero - and if you don't go through Caliber Home Loans, you got a better chance of keeping that bad luck out of your court. read more

This review is for Susie Ataide and also the team at Caliber Home Loans here in Fairfield. We had a very complicated situation. Susie began working for us and right out of the gate she was on top of everything. We were not expecting things to work out, we had been told our situation was a tough one to get a refi for. In the first two weeks, we were well on our way to not only getting a great refi rate but through Susie's hard work and never say die attitude we were able to do everything we wanted to do. With COVID-19 rules being added every day we had a leg up in the process because Susie was always one step ahead of the changing rules. I used Caliber home loans out of Texas, for my refinance. WORST company for customer service. Loan officer didn't keep me appraised of how my loan was going-- one email in 5 weeks. Then funded with an incorrect payoff, causing ME to reach out to get refund checks. I left phone messages, sent emails to both loan officer AND her manager who failed to contact me to resolve the issues. I got an email from the loan manager who refused to help saying he wasn't in the room during the conversation... and she would have to deal with it. SHE (the loan officer) would get back to me. More emails to her and him with no response. I called customer service resolution department 3 months later and they told me how sorry they were that I had this experience and the department head would resolve my issue and get back to me in 1-2 days. Its been 14 days and I have heard NOTHING from Caliber. WORST WORST company. AND they still have my $1268. and I still make my payments to them... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

I was fortunate enough to work with Steve Case over at Caliber. He was willing to meet with me face to face before I even decided to work with him as I was still talking to many lenders feeling out my options. I showed up and he had an estimated breakdown of all expenses in buying a home and sat there and answered every single one of my questions (this is before I even committed to working with him). I had a lot of questions too as this was my first home purchase. Kind, professional, patient, and extremely attentive/responsive. I don't know what more you could ask for. Not to mention I am VERY happy with the numbers I ended up with when it was all said and done. These folks created expectations and then violated every one. They stall by asking for the same things over and over. They deal with flaky lenders who are paranoid that they won't be able to resell your loan. 6 weeks after giving them all they asked for they approved our loan but delayed it due to "quality control" . Now the seller of the property we wanted to buy can keep our 3% deposit because they told us to remove our contingency but didn't complete the loan in time. Don't be suckered by their low rates--go directly to a bank for your loan. read more
