As a buyer, Jim was both ready to take the lead with regards to finding places to show me, and taking me to places I saw online. It's a good balance. I imagine that buyers these days mostly need their agents for the paperwork and touring anyway, and he appreciates that. The process was easy. The selling process was harder, but I think I made it harder for myself. There were a few flaws with the home (just small things, like it needing to be painted, etc.), and he suggested staging it. I balked, because that stuff is expensive, and he accepted that and did virtual staging instead. However, when it didn't sell for a couple of months, I agreed to staging...and I had a good offer in less than two weeks. Maybe I would've gotten an offer anyway, but his advice on the staging definitely seemed to be worthwhile. He made the paperwork on that side SUPER easy -- which is great, since I had already moved out of state -- and even sent me a small, delicious gift to celebrate my move. I doubt I'll be back in Chicago for anything but visiting, but if I did want to buy/sell there, I'd definitely look Jim up again. It's also worth noting that the Dream Town office is stocked with my favorite soda (Diet Dr Pepper, in a can), which is a plus in my book.
