I lost touch with my last electrician about 10 years ago, so I had been putting off a lot of work that I want to get done. I finally had a need to get something done, so I started the search for a new electrician. After some searching I found Steve Martin Electric, and decided to give him a try based on the reviews. I didn't ask for a quote before-hand, and just scheduled the appointment. It's a bit of a test to see how fair people are, as I knew the ballpark of what I should be paying. Steve came today (promptly at 8AM on the dot) and did the work. It was just a small job. He installed a whole house surge suppressor on my main panel, and then installed a new circuit breaker and ran a short run of conduit to a new electrical box. He was in and out in about 1.5 hours. While he was here he was professional, respectful of our house, took care not to make a mess, was very personable, and didn't get annoyed when I was in his way a bit as I had planned a small cord rearrangement project during the time I thought the power would be off in the house. We never discussed priced, but when the work was completed I was presented a very fair invoice. I had honestly expected to pay about $50 more based on my research, so I was very happy. After 10 years without an electrician, now I have one again. More projects will now be planned for the near future. read more

I had searched for a local electrician to help because our garbage disposal and dishwasher went out within days of each other. We thought that was kind of strange. Called Steve Martin and he was flexible and able to come out in a very reasonable amount of time. We were quoted a price over the phone and it was very fair in my eyes, and that is what we were charged. No hidden fees!. He just left here after problem solving and fixing our electrical issue, and we aren't having to purchase new appliances! Steve knew his stuff and also a very nice person to work with. I needed an electrical outlet installed above the fireplace. I scheduled a date for the install after SME confirmed that they do these all the time and it wasn't too small a job. Steve texted the day before the install to verify that I was expecting him. He showed up five minutes before the scheduled time and we discussed the various options to route the electrical wiring to minimize or prevent any refinishing work on the drywall. We had Steve out to upgrade our 200A panel so that we could add more circuits as well as run an additional 50a line with a disconnect for an outside water feature. He did excellent work that was completed much sooner than I thought it would take and explained everything to me when he was finished. He sent me a nice organized spreadsheet with the layout of the panel. The new panel looks great and will give me room to grow if we need to.
