This time the wait was one hour, what made it ok was that Kim the Hygienist was very helpful and professional. The cleaning of my teeth was painless, and professionally done. Next was to see Doctor Liem in another room. He is to the point; repairing my cracked molar and again very professional. The receptionist was Russian with also a nice attitude. Great staff and dentists! The quality of work is superb. You may come into some push and pull with the receptionist as they come off with a "dry" attitude. But It doesn't bother me. The front desk will communicate with you via text for appointment scheduling and such. Your text communication is saved and put In your files - they know exactly what was said. I know this because I saw it when I glanced over at the screen. Lol. I was there for 3 hours for a routine cleaning and a consultation for a crown. I would come here on a regular basis for a checkup and cleaning, but nothing else. Kim is a fantastic hygienist to work with. Although she tends to push for a deep clean if you are a first timer (as others had mentioned). If you require any additional services, I recommend that you look elsewhere. I had a filing done here on my first visit and I was told that I needed a refill a year later. I've had several fillings done before, but never needed a refill after only one year. Furthermore, it's slightly difficult to schedule an appointment here, and even if you arrive on time, you are expected to wait a long time before being seen. read more

I love my new dental office! I have been going elsewhere for 10+ years and I have become dissatisfied with my old dental office when they changed management and employees, so decided its time for a change. I found Dental Arts of Brooklyn and they had almost 5 stars and accepted my insurance so I decided to book an appointment. Kim the hygienist is absolutely wonderful. She has a hand of gold and made my experience with a deep cleaning a breeze. I will follow Kim to the moon or wherever she goes just to have my teeth cleaned by her. She is absolutely wonderful and she also takes the time to explain how to brush and floss correctly (something my old office never did). Also Dr. Liem is very good too, he was able to find a cavity that my old dental office had over looked just weeks prior! I actually look forward to my next appointment(s) at Dental Arts of Brooklyn. This place has gone downhill. The receptionist lacks customer service. If you have an appointment they keep on bombarding you with text messages. My problem is that they had to reschedule the my appointment and they didn't tell me. They kept on trying to confirm the appointment for the old time. I went in for at 1pm and they told me the hygienist wasn't available until 330. They kept texting to confirm my appointment at 1. Why couldn't they send me a text or email saying that they wanted to reschedule? Instead the receptionist tried laying the blame at my door. She said I should have responded to the texts. Then she told me I should wait for two hours in the waiting room. Never again! Overall considering they don't care about their customers I am changing my dentist . They should beware! There is plenty of compeitation in the neighborhood. read more

Take heed guys, never ignore negative reviews. Nice staff, clean, courteous service but this facility falls short on one basic important principle, good Dentalcare Ethics. The day after I chipped one my molars, I came to this facility which is my regular dental care clinic. I was in no pain whatsover and after X-rays were taken, I was informed that I needed a Root canal and a Crown! Sounds familiar? Upset, and based on my past experience with Dentists I decided for get a second opinion. My husband who studied dentistry in his Country said I had only a small chip. Sure enough, I went to another dentist, X-rays were taken and the Doctor explained to me that all I had was a small chip. Nothing beyond that. He proceeded to bond the area redid a filling and I left with a smile. read more

Alla is a horrible receptionist. Don't trust her words and she is just terrible with patients. I feel like she rushes people and doesn't spend time explaining what future appts are available. My parents go to this office, and they highly recommend to me to visit it. My first experience was amazing, the dental hygienist lady was nice and gentle when she was cleaning me teeth( I have VERY SENSITIVE teeth), doctor look at me for no more than 3 min, he said that everything is good, but I need to remove my wisdom teeth... fast and simple. Waiting time is no more than 15 mins, especially since I was filling all the paperwork,time flew by. Everyone is kind and pleasant:) And they give you a mini chapstick when you leave, sweet. read more

The only employee that is good is Kim the hygienist. She did an amazing job cleaning, but she likes to push for a deep clean. On three separate occasions, I saw a patient that had been recommended to do have a deep clean. Dr. Liam doesn't like to interact with the patient. He likes to rush through the job and leave. After that, you don't even see him anymore. My son encountered this problem with Dr. Liam. He has a lack of communication. Dr. Liam likes to do a quick job and leave. My wife also went there and was attended to by Dr. Liam. She had to do a filling and she had a terrifying experience with him. He did not smooth out the surface of the filling and walked away. She also experienced rude treatment and unprofessional service from him. We gave three chances to this office; all with bad experiences. Don't waste your time like we did. We know that it is hard to find a good dentist nowadays. Don't give up looking for a better dentist. read more

Terrible place, I went there to fix my tooth (I had a hole in my tooth and I felt discomfort). I came to the first meeting with the doctor and showed my problem, he said he would fix it at the next appointment and he said that I still need to change the filling on the other tooth (which did not hurt and did not bother me). When I came to the doctor's appointment, the next time he replaced the filling in the tooth that did not hurt, and he did not touch the tooth that hurt, he said that to fix it, you need to make a new appointment. (I left the city for work, and came back specifically to fix this tooth) now I am leaving again for at least 3 weeks, and at least three weeks I will not be able to fix my tooth) Very bad place. They just want to use your insurance. Wouldn't recommend this place !! They only cares how to take your money. read more

I have been going to Dr. Slobodski since I was a little girl so I am pretty familiar with the staff there. It is a nice office where all of the faces are always the same. When was the last time you remember the same receptionist (who is not the mother or wife) has been there for the past 15 or so years? I will never forget the time I had to get impressions taken for my invisalign, I have an annoying "reflex" during these procedures and long story short it worked out great. I have a perfectly straight smile and with no traumatic experience to show for it. Like I said before, they are friendly, helpful and always remember me. They work with my insurance which is a plus. Alla is very rude to me. She's the receptionist and she disregarded me as I waited for 10 minutes. She wasn't with anybody. She doesn't even greet you when you walk in. I think doctor Slobodski is a talented enough dentist, however, his office practices are HORRIBLE. My husband had to return over and over to complete a crown, because each time (not less than five times), the crown somehow "didn't fit" according to Slobodski. My suspicion is that he didn't want to install the permanent crown until the entire balance was paid in full. We had no insurance, and we had no problem paying in the past. This is a strange and dangerous practice. No where in any papers did it say that the crown would be held hostage for payment in full. Not to mention what a ridiculous and inconsiderate waste of time! There was also a rather unscrupulous increase in price on an already finished crown, supposedly the price in gold went up suddenly, and we had to pay the difference. How idiotic is that? read more

I went back for help for an ongoing issue I am having with my billing. The front desk lady is extremely rude. Please do not come here. Her tone is very off and she is unwilling to listen to your issues. She cuts people off. She informed me that she works six days a week and she forgets to do stuff. I saw Dr. Steve for a very complicated dental case. He was the only dentist out of many, who knew how to fix my problems without overcharging or making my issues worse. He is a very kind, compassionate, intelligent dentist and in my experience that is rare in today's world. I would recommend Dr. Steve to anyone with big or small dental needs. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! For the longest time I refrained from writing this review but now I have to. I have been going to this office for over 17 years, since 1994, back then this office was in its first few years of existence. I was loyal to this office up until a few years ago when one day the receptionist (white) with long greasy brown wavy hair, I forget the name, allocated me to be treated by a young female dentist with a pretty face. She did a lousy job putting in two fillings, leaving them with chiseled unpolished surface on the enamel with multiple hard-edge corners cutting into my mouth's inner skin. I returned back with a complain and that grease-haired receptionist started giving me attitude as if I was to be blamed for this. My regular doctor, Yampolsky, fixed the problem, admitting that she did a lousy job. Ever since that day this grease-haired receptionist has been spreading gossip and bad rap about me to the assistant of dr. Yampolsy - Janna, who in turn became treating me with neglect, one time dropping a computer keyboard on my left arm during doctor's work on my teeth. Why I think it was intentional? Because the appointment prior when I asked for the mirror to see the completed result, this janna made a statement to Yampolsky, "He is not gonna leave you alone that easily", she said it in Russian right in my presence. I said nothing to her but asked the doctor why she'd say something like this, is she not a paid employee? He didn't care to comment on it. Later that day I called another receptionist in this office, who by the way is a great person and always treats patients professionally with a smile. Her name is Ilona, she was very accommodating and promised that janna will not behave like this because loosing a client for this office means Ilona herself one day may end up without having a job too. Ever since then I have been going to my regular doctor only on the days when this janna is off, to avoid any confrontation, going to the dentist by itself is not the most pleasant of activities. On March 21st I was having a metal crown removed by my regular doctor Yampolsky, who gave me couple of anesthetic injections to num the gum area. Within couple of days I had two more injections done by Tatyana who was performing deep-cleaning on my teeth. After that day I noticed the bottom of my mouth turned from red to grayish. Today, a month a 5 days after that, I still feel numbness in my tongue and there's no taste sensation during food intake. I did a quick research online to discover that this happens when a lingual nerve in the mouth gets damaged by the injecting needle. This numbness may be temporary or PERMANENT depending on how long the person doesn't have it treated. Anyone in this situation would want to find out how to resolve it. I asked my regular doctor Yampolsky about this issue and he said, sometime it may take up to 6 months to go away, and he himself had an issue like this. All this was assuring but not convincing. I decided to give it benefit of the doubt, because waiting for 6 months and then ending up with permanent tongue numbness was my responsibility. I was passing by the Slobodski office today and decided to come in to find out when exactly those injections were done. Every professional dentist office must have this info, besides I am the patient who goes there. It happened that Ilona was off and I politely asked this grease-haired receptionist to tell me last 5 appointments and what they were for. She began telling me and then asked why, I told her the issue, she said to wait for dr. Knoll, another doctor in the office, Yampolsky was off, he should be able to tell what to do in my case. I waited for about 20 mins and then she said that I must see my doctor another day when he is here, I said all I need is the dates of when both the crown removal and deep cleaning were performed, she now began giving me attitude that she will not provide this info. I asked the other receptionist, african-american one, but to no avail. The manager Anna came, a good natured woman, she said lets take a look and she told me the date. During this process the grease-haired receptionist begins to give me a phone number to go see an oral surgeon, who apparently can fix the issue. There are hundreds if not thousands of dentist offices in Brooklyn. If you want to get treated professionally, stay away from this one. After this incident and 17 years of loyalty I have no choice but to go look elsewhere to have my dental care needs met. read more

I saw this doctor 2 years ago, upon the recommendation of a family member. I didn't have dental insurance, and I heard he was understanding about that. Well, let me tell you: I will never forget this guy, because I think the dentist character from Little Shop of Horrors was based on him. Judgmental to the fullest, first of all. Any question I asked him was practically dismissed, or met with skepticism and egoism. When I said, during a painful procedure, that I wasn't numbed enough and felt the vibration of the drill on my nerve, he said it's all in my head and recommended I take Valium. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Unless you are a masochist, do NOT go to this guy. read more

Something has gone seriously wrong at this once Wonderful office. Ten years, even five years ago, the practice was First Class. Visits - even for unpleasant procedures - were as comforting as you could ever wish. Dr. Slobodski himself was brilliant, concerned, and always investing time & real money (it was obvious) in the newest research, methods, and equipment. But gradually things changed. The first sign of irregularity happened years ago when they upgraded their Office Software to a new system; all past data was simply deleted, since it could not be "imported." So now there was no way to refer to the course of an ongoing problem, and no record of what repairs had been made and, importantly, had to be re-made within a short time. Speaking with other patients, we decided the biggest difference was in simple caring. I understand the problems of working with an ever-growing population of people with shrinking insurance resources. New York City healthcare is acknowledged to be one of the worst in the country for this reason. But the degree of brushing-off patient concerns, rushing through procedures, and simply overlooking "minor" problems is unforgivable. The support staff is still excellent. Concerned receptionists, Talented hygienists, attentive technicians... they are not the problem. But obviously real overall supervision is now absent. Perhaps a problem shared with all group practices today. Hopefully this office can turn things around. IF they really want to. read more

Amazing service and experience. I switched to this dental office after a horrible experience at another dental office. The Dr and receptionist were so nice and welcoming. I was extremely scared to go to dentist after what I had gone through with the last place but the Dr. took his time and was very patient in dealing with me. He did not make me feel rushed in making any decision to work on my teeth. That was the total opposite from the other place. Although the receptionist did not come across as the warmest person upon my first visit, the two dentist I was introduced to Dr. Steve Slobodski and Dr. Jason Liem were amazing and very personable. I have been back at least 5 times now from having root canals, to a surgical procedure to fill ins and I have never left unsatisfied. Dr. Slobodski is my dentist now and I couldn't be in better hands. He is funny and even allows me to watch movies on the little television screen while he's drilling my teeth. I was terrified of going to the dentist and now I'm not because of the comfort I feel when I'm there. Also they were very willing to set up payment plans for my procedures and I have since recommended them to anyone who compliments my smile. read more

Horrible experience!!! STAY AWAY!! A few years ago, I got stuck with Dr. Yampolsky, who did a filling on my front tooth. After drilling away at my tooth like there was no tomorrow, he filled it in. I felt a lot of pressure on the neighboring teeth and told him to file it down a bit. He got really mad and filed and filed away. When he was finally done, I went outside to look in the bathroom mirror and was horrified! My front tooth looked like Baba Yaga's from those of you who are familiar with Russian fairy tales. Basically, it was an ugly filed-down claw. I asked him to fix it, which he did but very reluctantly. He was really mad and kept taking it out on me. The next couple of days were very unpleasant as I was still experiencing a "crowding" sensation in my front teeth. I asked to make an appointment again and they were insisting that I make one with Dr. Yampolsky, which I refused at all costs. I got stuck with Dr. Kroll. She wasn't that much better. When I told her what happened, she acted like she couldn't care less. I think she was more amused with my story rather than sympathetic. Basically, she wanted me out of her hair as soon as possible. She did a crappy job of patching things up and sent me on my way. I found a different dentist and I have not been back to this office ever since and would tell anyone to stay away. They are very unprofessional and not sympathetic to your needs. Judging from other posts, I am not alone in this. I am surprised no one has sued them yet. read more

The first two times I went I waited like an hour, but the dentist was fairly nice (nothing special, but nothing horrible either). The third time I went (today) was HORRIBLE. The lady at the front (heavy accent, Russian I think) denied I had an appointment. She kept (rudely) insisting it was next week. Not only was I sure that it wasn't (I had asked for a half day off work for it), but I also received a voicemail from HER confirming my appointment date about two days before, AND a text message with the date and time, AND I called a day before to confirm. AND it was with here that I had made that appointment literally two weeks before... I showed her the text with the exact date and time and SHE WAS STILL SO RUDE. I told her politely that I had taken half a day off and that I wasn't even in town next week. Only then did a nice man next to her say he would try to figure it out. They told me I'd have to wait 30 mins, and I said it was totally fine. After 50 minutes passed I asked her about the wait time. She said a few minutes without looking at me. I asked her if she could be more specific. She went to the back and came back and said "30 minutes at least." I asked her how that could be...and she SIMPLY PICKED UP THE PHONE AND STARTED TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE. Horrible horrible horrible. I left without getting my cleaning done. read more

My frightened 6 yr old loves Dr. Ivetta Krol. She's soft spoken and reassuring, she never let's my daughter think she's "lost control" of the situation, allowing her a few breaks during cleanings. I went to see Dr. Slobodski for a sleep apnea consultation since I was referred here from my doctor. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeting by such a warm, welcoming staff. When I was introduced to the doctor, he was nice, answered all of my questions regarding my sleep apnea. Over the course of several months I had to come back to his office for adjustments to my oral appliance with no issues from him or the staff. I must say I was a bit reluctant to come here because of the reviews but the majority of them were over 3 years old. Dont listen to these reviews because they are based on an upset person looking to ruin the reputation of someone who is truly great. read more

This dentist is a total nightmare!!! Especially Doctor Gefon and Doctor Liam. Don't be fooled by Elana the nice receptionist. She's a piece of human debris! They act like they're wheeling and dealing out of the trunk of their car offering implants for half price. My insurance didn't pay so I paid out of pocket. After 6 months of excruciating pain and extreme swelling from the bone graft to prepare for the implant, I went in to finally get the implant finished and they jacked up the price and held my implant hostage for another $2000. They went in a doctored up the invoice so the price was so much more than the original one! I was so shocked at their dishonesty. I had been through so much already and got left with a gapping hole in my mouth and they cracked the tooth adjacent to the one that needed the implant so I need to repair that one as well! I couldn't get the implant because I couldn't afford it anymore! I have extreme headaches and jaw pain now!!! These people are nothing but snake oil salesman. They don't give a damn about people! I'm so traumatized by the entire experience! Please do not go to this place ever!!! read more

This is by far the WORST dentist in Brooklyn. Both dentists there, slobodski and liem are not recommended. I had a root canal done and my tooth has been in pain for over a month. every time i go i get no answer, just doctors laughing in my face. The horrible Dentist one will ever see in life time. Me and my wife went there after waiting 2 weeks for appointment , were in waiting area waiting for 3 full hours. The assistant took X-Ray of us very rude and roughly that kept hurting mouth whole day. When Dr. Jason Liem , Chinese guy , came " he told my wife that you have infection so we will clean teeth when after two weeks. " The stupid dentist don't know cleaning is major part of treating infection. He didn't even prescribe any antibiotic if she really does have infection. When I ask him why he didn't do even superficial cleaning or prescribe any antibiotic he was so rude enough to say " we don't have time ". That's worst thing any doctor can say to his patient. Why would you book appointment of you don't have time. We are in process of filing claim against this doctor. He is shame on name of Doctor. I already called healthgardes.com and other concerned services to complain about his doctor. So he will never tray any other patient like this in his life. My experience was overall positive; the work I needed was difficult and tedious. It was a crown on a tooth that needed root canal, way in the back. The location of the office is several long blocks from the train, and hard to get to unless you come by car. Doctor Liem is a perfectly competent, talented young dentist. It's a community-oriented practice, and doesn't have the posh sophistication of a Manhattan office. But they are reasonably priced, and very good and efficient about processing insurance claims. Came with an acute tooth problem, made an appointment in regards to an acute problem which could be solved quickly and fully covered by insurance , was not helped at all - instead was tortured with more that 20 images and x-rays , left with an acute tooth problem and...nicely printed , perfectly detailed proposal of future treatment costing almost 5000.00 . When asked the doctor - what if I loose my tooth because it is left untreated , doctor's answer was - don't worry we will replace it if needed ! Any questions? Going into this office is always fun. It is like having a team of dentists as a comedy act!

Been going to this office for well over a decade, not going anywhere else. Being a Russian immigrant, I was scared straight by Russian dentists, the reviewers below don't know what BAD is. The only time a Soviet Era dentist gives you any pain killers is when it's time to pull the tooth, and root canals were non existent. Now Russia is up to date, but now I'm here so that doesn't matter. What was done: 6 root canals, took many visits and all were painless and quick enough 1 crown, still holding after many many years lost count of fillings laser gum treatment (that was something!) and cleaning after cleaning after cleaning. Don't know what Renat or anybody here is talking about. Yes I know Jana, no issues there, always with a smile. I've had 3 different doctors do work on me, and all my taste buds are in great shape along with my teeth and gums. This isn't a McDonald's drive through so don't plan to get anything done while on your lunch brake. You're going to a DOCTOR, these things take a while, don't rush them and definatelly don't give them an attitude when you see them BECAUSE DOCTORS TAKE CARE OF YOU! There's a reason why PATIENt and PATIENce have so much in common. The office staff is amazing. Very nice, professional people - their employer should take notes from them. If you're a nervous dentist-visitor like me who usually avoids going until something really needs fixing, this is NOT the place to go. He is not going to hold your hand, explain things to you, or have sympathy for your reasonable anxiety. The dental work is fine - but the bedside manner is not. My friends encouraged me to write a review after I called them in tears about my experience and recommended a new dentist to me.
