Please see update below. Thanks!!…read more Hi while I really enjoyed the dr bedside manner I can only award two stars for her practice. Her office staff is fairly decent and the dr is very competent. I was very happy with my service and care until very recently. About a month ago I received a bill from there office with a request for payment. I contacted Medicare and found out that I didn't owe on the bulk of the charges. Approximately 388 out of 445. I requested and they sent me a note explaining that the charge was denied and my responsibility was 0. So I sent to there office a copy of the bill and note from Medicare on July 6th. They again billed me for the full amount. I found out from Medicare that I do owe around 60 dollars that will be remitted soon. I will again bring to their attention that I don't owe the other charge. I had to spend a good part of a day w Medicare to sort this out. I really love the staff and dr but the display here with billing isn't acceptable to me. They billed me coincidentally after the 6 month dispute period where if I overpaid I could get a refund. To support my claim I can submit redacted paperwork pics supporting my claims. Please if you do business here as well as anywhere if you see questionable charges ask the insurer directly to explain. And remember as a population Medicare has mostly if not all seniors and people w disabilities who are vulnerable to these type of things. In summary I liked the hands on care but didn't appreciate the billing after the procedure. UPDATE: the billing department has contacted me and accepted full responsibility. The doctor and her staff is blameless. I never did have a problem w their services only the billing. The dr gets 5 stars and her billing dept 2 stars.

I had a frustrating experience as a new patient with this confusing practice…read more TLDR: Don't waste your time trying to see this doctor for functional medicine. It's a cash only. Practice selling supplements etc. The whole story... I called for an appointment and did a pretty standard intake conversation over the phone. I gave my details, my insurance information and based upon verification was booked with an appointment time that they gave me in 4 weeks to be seen at the Katy clinic. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to my appointment and the patient receptionist told me that I there was no record of me in the system! I was aghast. Not only had I had a 20-minute conversation with someone, I had given a lot of my personal details like my demographic information, health concerns and insurance information! After refusing to let them gaslight me, I was able to look in my records and give them the date of my call as well as verification that I had sent my insurance information by email to them. Apparently no one in the office actually answers the phone, a faceless nameless call center does that work. Somewhere in their convoluted and opaque process, someone took all this info from me, received my email, quoted me an appointment time, and then failed to make the appointment they gave me. The front desk person I worked with was unapologetic for all of this. She seemed to think I should have inferred that because I hadn't been texted any reminders I should have guessed there was a problem. She offered me alternate times without apologizing for the inconvenience or unprofessionalism they had already displayed. When she asked me (again) what my issue was she informed me that I needed "the functional medicine side" and not the "gastroenterology side", whatever that means. One doctor, one practice... It's not my job to know how you guys internally structure your practice and how you segregate patients?? She went on to begin booking the other appointment - a video visit which apparently is the only way Dr. V sees new patients (they didn't tell me that on the phone they made a face to face appointment that I waited weeks for). While standing there and waiting, my eyes caught on a brochure advertising their services which explicitly said that the gastroenterology visits are insurance visits and the ones for the functional medicine practice are "insurance free". I stopped her immediately. It turns out that what I wanted to see the doctor about is their cash clients only part (supplement sales). I just turned around and walked away. I'm super frustrated and angry - I had super high hopes for this practice and instead walked away with my time wasted and disrespected as well as a negative opinion of their professionalism. I'm not in the market for a cash only supplement pill mill, and that seemed to be what they were trying to push me towards. Don't waste your time with this one!

My regular gastroenterologist referred me to Dr. Desai because I guess I have unusual anatomy. I went in for an ERCP but my regular gastroenterologist couldn't complete the surgery and called Dr. Desai to come in and he suggested he try and do the surgery again later that day. I loved that he sat and explained everything that happened and would happen to me and my husband and even allowed my husband back in the surgery room for a few minutes as he knew I was pretty nervous. My husband said while I was in recovery he came out and explained again what he did and actually gave him his direct number with any questions we might have later. Fast forward a couple weeks and I went back to see Dr. Desai as I still wasn't feeling well and he suggested another surgery but he explained everything and why I needed it and totally calmed my fears about everything. He has a wonderful bedside manner and really listens to you and answers your questions in a down to earth way. The office is convenient for me too, located on Blossom in the same building as my primary care doctor so that's awesome! I also adore his office staff! They are so friendly and they get stuff taken care of! I was going to a different gastroenterologist and I like him ok, but I'm not going back to see see anyone but Dr. Desai now!

He would not listen to me. I tried to explain to him that I was sent there on a referral for some very severe problems. I explained to him what I have been doing the past two weeks. He basically told me to go home and keep doing what I was doing that I would be OK. Are you kidding me? If you don't have Covid you don't exist in the world right now. I wouldn't recommend this physician to my dog.
