Spencer Svetcov by my general dentist for two reasons: he is ethical, he would not recommend an unnecessary procedure; and he never has to redo the same tooth.

WARNING: Deceptive Billing and Medical Misrepresentation…read more Warning to the Queens community regarding the predatory business practices at Dental Specialties of NY on Hillside Ave. My family was subjected to a blatant "bait-and-switch" scheme regarding a tooth extraction on January 6, 2026. During the consultation, Dr. Kambiz Vatandoost and his assistant "Charlie" insisted a bone graft was necessary and quoted $1,600, while falsely claiming it was not covered by insurance. We paid that amount specifically for the graft and explicitly declined a separate $950 Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatment. Despite our refusal, they drew blood anyway and claimed the PRF was "free." When we followed up with our insurance provider, we discovered that bone grafts are actually a covered benefit under our plan. More shockingly, when insurance contacted the office directly, the staff denied ever performing a bone graft, claiming they only did a Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) procedure. This means they charged us $1,600 out-of-pocket for a service they told the insurance company never happened, while trying to pass off a treatment we specifically rejected as the primary service. When confronted, the office repeatedly told multiple members of our family--including a Registered Nurse--that we simply "misunderstood" the plan. They denied any wrongdoing despite verbal agreements. It took days of us physically going to the office and causing disruption loudly, as to alert other patients of their conduct, before they finally agreed to a refund. Even then, the resolution was handled with zero integrity. They withheld 5% of our money as a "transaction fee" and forced my relative to sign a liability waiver as a condition for returning our funds. Any "resolution" this office claims to have is likely coerced through these predatory tactics. If you are able to, avoid this place entirely. In my opinion, they should be shut down for what I consider medical malpractice and fraudulent conduct, especially based on the many reviews that detail common experiences. If you absolutely must go there, ensure you read every single piece of paperwork they make you sign. They made my relative sign a document that was not the agreed-upon procedure on purpose so they could charge us for it later and deny what was decided on the day of the visit. Always request a document with a full itemized cost of all procedures before anything is done. Do not trust their verbal quotes, and do not let them gaslight you. We are moving forward with a formal complaint to the NYS Office of Professional Discipline (OPD).

Had one appt for the Family on Friday June 26th, but on Monday my tooth split...they got me in early Thursday at 9am only to find out that the clinic not open until 10am, I bounced between 2 different Doctors to only be told they cant do anything until Tuesday the 30th so I book the appt what a complete waiste of a day and continued to be in pain. They did give me a prescription for antibiotics and ibuprofen. Friday comes and with the rest of the family went ok, it was a wait and it was 3 family members at the same time to be expected. Today June 30th I show up to my Appt on time at noon, thinking ok, they know what needs to be done lets go...1 hr into it they took more x-ray than on Thursday and once again had me bouncing around from right door, left door, right door. Then said for the tooth removal was 750.00 out of pocket when I know my insurances covered this...felt stupid for paying but then 2hrs go by and now I've asked them what the wait time was...we dont know...asked for a refund which they voided but I really felt uncomfortable by this time ans so glad I got out of there. Very disappointed since im still in pain...still have a broken tooth and I just wanted it fixed.

I didn't have a choice because I didn't know what it was. The dentist himself as crooked as he is came in and try to convince me to remove 2 wisdom so they can charge me 2500 extra fee and charge my insurance. After the procedure I call Healthfirst and I was told that extra treatment was not necessary and it was a choice that's why they don't cover . I Check online the cost for that treatment called D7922 is 100-250 the most because it's just a cotton pad added not a surgery . I was charged 1250 for something most dental office charge 250 max for. On top of that they charge my card credit 1500 instead of 1250 and I had to argue that too. Please don't go to this place and make sure u research every treatment they are offering u before u pay out of pocket . The nurses are professionally trained to lie and get patients To sign for things at a higher price. I do not recommend this place at all it was my first time and I will never return . They need 0 star . A bunch of thieves . That dental code D7922 cost is not $1250 and they keep saying that is their fee. They are literally ripping off patients... I have asked to explain to me what make their prices so high they are not able that saying that's our price . Please be aware of this place and they pricing to extort patients. How a patient sign for 1250 and u make a mistake of entering number and put 1500 ? It does not make any sense. They are scam and need to be investigated for their exaggerated pricing

This DEMON is shockingly unprofessional, brash, and outright aggressive. The temporary crowns he installed are not only excruciatingly painful but are also an eyesore--several shades darker and yellower than the rest of my teeth. To make matters worse, the work is a complete disaster: glue and cement were sloppily smeared across surrounding teeth, left to fester in the crevices like a botched art project by someone who clearly has no business in dentistry. The temporary crowns did not even last an entire week before falling off! Even worse, I was NEVER informed what this procedure Seema demanded I undergo for a tiny hairline crack on one tooth entailed. This butcher SHAVED DOWN both of my front teeth into miniature stubs without informing me this is what she planned to do. I NEVER agreed or would have agreed to this procedure had I been informed what it entailed or was. The man she had do it, DR. D, was extremely rough and violent with me thrashing my head and neck around to the point I am in severe pain and deeply emotionally traumatized a week later. I will be reporting both of them and this practice to the New York State Office of Professional Discipline if I am not refunded the $600 I was charged as a down payment. I do not trust this woman or her co-dentist anywhere near my mouth. I regret letting her destroy my teeth, my health, and my sanity. Not to mention, when I informed her that her poorly made and applied temporary crowns fell off, she made no effort to put them back in despite it being a dental emergency. My gums? Still bleeding, still throbbing in pain, thanks to his gross incompetence. I can't fathom how Seema and this clown of a technician "Dr. D" are not drowning in shame, attaching their names to work so shockingly substandard it borders on malpractice. The fact that anyone could walk away from this level of botched work without feeling mortified is beyond comprehension. I will never allow these crooks near my mouth again, and I urge anyone who values their health and sanity to steer far, far away from this dental circus. If this is the kind of "care" you can expect, it's no wonder they've mastered the art of driving patients away.

I just want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Lin and her amazing staff for staying until 7…read morep.m. yesterday to complete a much-needed root canal. Dr. Lin came highly recommended by my dentist, and now I can see why. She went above and beyond to fit me into her already packed schedule because she knew I was dealing with tooth pain that needed attention before I left for vacation. But before I dive into how brilliant Dr. Lin was yesterday, I want to give a bit of backstory. Dr. Lin was supposed to do my root canal three weeks ago. At the time, she managed to squeeze me in for an emergency consultation and told me to return after the weekend for the procedure. Then, as luck would have it, Dr. Lin fell ill and had to be hospitalized. Her staff called me to reschedule and kept me updated while she recovered. Then, the office had to close for a weeklong renovation. Naturally, I started to worry I'd have to leave for my vacation with a tooth infection. Thankfully, Dr. Lin's staff reassured me and fit me in for the last appointment yesterday. I could tell she had a full day and was still recovering from her own illness, yet she focused entirely on ME. She took the time to address all my concerns and patiently listened to my fears. She even said she'd double-check to see if I even needed a root canal, and if I didn't, we could all go home early! Turns out, I did need the root canal--my tooth's nerve had died. Dr. Lin knew how nervous I was, especially about the procedure and all the needles involved. To help ease my anxiety, she handed me a fluffy plushie to hug while she worked. That small gesture honestly made a huge difference! Dr. Lin had told me the procedure would take about an hour, but it ended up taking two. Why? It was my last molar, and the nerves were curved, which made the process more complicated. But Dr. Lin explained every step and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time. Her attention to detail and calming presence really put me at ease. She even took two x-rays during the procedure to make sure everything was perfect. Throughout, there was zero pain, and even though she warned me I might have jaw pain from holding my mouth open for so long, I didn't feel any discomfort. I waited a day to write this review to get a sense of how I was feeling, and while there's some slight pain when I bite down (which is normal), I'm feeling really good. Dr. Lin even called me today to check in and see how I was doing. Also, I have to mention the office renovations! The new baby blue walls are a beautiful update to an already great space. Thank you so much, Dr. Lin, for making this experience as pain- and fear-free as possible--and for being such a caring, dedicated doctor. And a huge thank you to Lisa, Tom, and Lucille for patiently working overtime to make sure everything went smoothly!
