We're here at the office since the morning it is about to be 12pm and no one answers, no one calls back, they're on call dentist number is not even an active number. Dr. Joseph Merlino performed a root canal on one of my molars. It was severely infected for months. Painless from begining to end it took about 45 mins. Clean office, and professional staff. They accept Delta Dental DC37 for the root canal therapy. The Crown is a different story from my other dentist. My advice is book an appointment with Dr. Merlino if you need a root canal. read more

I went to dr collura on 1/21/25 to do a root canal retreatment at his manhattan location and to this day I did not go to a dentist to do a new crown which I am supposed to do or to any doctor due to what happened that day. My son and I went early and waited for him to get started. His assistant with the glasses entered the door, rolled her eyes, and said we were super early. It was a bad start with her attitude. I asked him to use a different xray plastic due to a phobia I have and he screamed at me and I told him to not shout at me because I have a phobia and he replied he doesn't care and it's not his problem. During the xray, he said that I don't know how to sit for an xray and how to put my head. He told me that the gloves are new and I told him if he doesn't change them I will have to leave. As I was getting up to leave he changed the gloves. There was a lot of argument up to this point, but I did not know the worst part was going to happen. Dr collura then gave me a numbing injection only one this time which is different from previous cases as he previously did several injections in his queens location Before he started any work and before he even lowered my chair, he shouted at me to close my eyes. I did not close my eyes and he then repeated shouting saying please close your eyes! I was shocked, my body frozen and afraid and I did not open my eyes the entire procedure. I even threw up a little from the fear during the procedure and I just felt someone sucked it out from me. I was unable to open my eyes and I don't know why. He never asked me how I was feeling nor he asked my son to check up on me. Since I closed my eyes I did not know what was happening to me after the argument. As my son and I were standing to give the payment for the procedure his assistant with glasses kept on giving us weird and bad looking faces. During the afternoon I called the office to ask if they had any video to show what exactly happened to me during the procedure to ease my fear and they said they don't have any. My son has deep regret for not entering the exam room to check on me to comfort me. Since 1/21 until this day I am having nightmares of this day and constant fear /screaming as I don't know what happened to me as my body frozen was fear and he forced me to close my eyes. read more

For any future patients a word of advice, just check to make sure that they take your insurance. This office will lie to you and say that they do. They told us that they were in network when they were not then dropped a nice bill on us. The desk worker told us to just ignore it and they'll take care of it which they never did. Then once the threatening texts started, all she could say is "oops sorry". If I could give this place a zero I would. I will never be using this office again. read more

I came in here to have my tooth evaluated for a fracture. I was seen by Dr Collura. He took one x ray and told me i had an abscess and needed a retreatment. He was rushing me to do the retreatment and asking me what type of insurance I had. I had a bad feeling about this guy. But I was in a lot of pain, so without a further thought, I agreed to do it. It cost me $1300 out of pocket. While he was performing the retreatment he states "oh...there's a fracture here. We might need to pull this tooth." He doesn't pull it. He continues with the retreatment. To make a long story short, I was still in a great deal of pain and I ended up going to another endodontist for a second opinion. She thoroughly evaluated my tooth and concluded there was a crack below the gum line and the tooth needed to be pulled immediately. There was absolutely no reason my tooth should of been retreated. This guy Collura is money hungry and he did a $1300 procedure knowing that the tooth was going to need to be pulled anyway. The office ended up refunding me the $1300 after I threatened to sue them. I will NEVER go to this office again and I highly recommend you don't go here either. read more

I was so nervous I hadn't had a root canal in over 25 years and my memory of the one I had wasn't pleasant!! Dr. Michael Collura was very friendly, informative and efficient!! Aside from the almost painless injections of Novocain. The whole procedure went smooth, fast and painless!! I was in awe I thought this was to good to be true and that when the Novocain wore off I would be in pain!! Again I was WRONG!! No PAIN at all! If I could give them 10 plus stars I would!
