Warning: Long review about Male infertility, IVF, Testosterone, Urologist…read more When my wife and I faced fertility challenges, her doctor recommended a semen analysis for me. The results were shocking: I had azoospermia--zero sperm in my ejaculate. I was devastated. Those were the darkest, most painful days of my life, and even now, the memory is haunting. I began searching for a urologist and I am immensely grateful to have found Dr. Karpman. As some reviews mention, he can be very straightforward and less emotionally soft at first--but to me, that was irrelevant. What truly matters is expertise, and that is where Dr. Karpman shines. Some reviews also note long wait times, but in my opinion, that is minor compared to finding a doctor who truly knows what they are doing. Dr. Karpman conducted another semen analysis, blood tests, and confirmed my azoospermia. He diagnosed it as non-obstructive based on a physical examination alone. His expertise became evident when he suggested an MRI of my pituitary gland after reviewing my hormone levels. The scan revealed an abnormality that might have been overlooked elsewhere. Unlike some doctors who may have immediately suggested surgical sperm retrieval, Dr. Karpman recommended medications to stimulate my pituitary gland. After three months on the medication, my semen analysis showed a few thousand non-motile sperm. While modest, it was encouraging--there was hope. Six months later, my sperm count had improved enough for IVF. I continued the treatment for several years as my wife and I navigated the challenging IVF and ICSI process. Throughout, I consistently had sufficient sperm for every egg retrieved. After multiple IVF attempts, chemical pregnancies, and even miscarriage, we finally achieved our dream. Today, I am holding my 6.5-month-old beautiful baby, and words cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Karpman. I still remember the day I feared I would never become a father. Never say never. I am not a religious person, but Dr. Karpman's treatment feels like a divine blessing. I sincerely wish him all the best and hope that anyone reading this who faces similar struggles will consider consulting him.

Here is what my husband had to say about Dr, Threatt and Dr. Bruno…read more Be Prepared! If something / someone is THAT GOOD ... you sure will have a LINE ...: ________________________ Dear Dreamteam, I bet you get lots of emails like this, yet I feel I have to send this one too. I wanted to thank you both for the very quick and excellent removal of my kidney-stone. Being so very flexible and getting me from the initial consultation onto the operating table just within a few hours was a miracle! Immediately after the procedure I felt so much better and now, on the second day after the stone is removed, I hardly remember the pain I had and feel almost normal. I don not understand why this process is not the normal way to deal with those kidney-stones, rather have the patients suffer a few days or even weeks and at the end the procedure still needs to be done ... I guess its an insurance thing. Dr. Threatt, Dr. Bruno, once I again I wanted to thank you for giving me back my life :-) Feel free to use me if you need a reference ... which I doubt you do. Sincerely,

Its unfortunate I have to give these damn ppl even a single star. The staff at this office have a…read moreserious attitude problem and have no sense of respect for their patients. I'll be fair: the one star can go towards getting an appt same day. Otherwise, they suck. When I had to check out at the end of my appt, the lady gave me a form to give to the radiology dept that had the scan information on it. She took it back crossing something off but when I got to the radiology dept today, there was so much confusion as to what I needed to get done! I was there from 10:35 am till 12:30 pm dealing with their STUPIDITY. And naturally, when I call, I get their low income snooty a$$ attitude that they somehow think is acceptable. They are rude on the phone and in person! If you think that maybe it just happened to me and no one else, hear this: The lady at the Radiology Dept told me they get numerous complaints about this office staff from patients and people in the dept having to deal with them! To the staff at the Peninsula Urology Clinic: don't forget who pays your damn salary.. its people like ME. Next time put a smile on your ugly faces and fake the sweet talk if you want to keep your job!

Really hard to find this place to review. I don't write reviews, so that should tell you how upset…read moreI am. My PCP referred me to this place due to a high PSA test. I called them a day after being urgently referred, got sent to the wrong directory and left a message with a random dr office. No contact. Called back a week later, they realized then that they had missed my referral, and was told they sent it in for urgent scheduling. A day and a half later get a call to set up a zoom call for a week and a half out with a urologist (Hao Nguyen). Fine. Ok. Get a random call a week later asking to confirm my appointment and oh, check the ucsf app as there are a bunch of questionnaires to complete. Oh, good thing someone told me about those (wth?). Complete questionnaires which includes some key family history. Time for the big day, I'm supposed to call into the zoom 15 mins before the appointment, so I do at the inconvenience of friends and family. 28 MINS after the urologist was supposed to join, he shows up claiming internet issues, tells me I need another test which he supposedly scheduled, has no idea on my history and ends the call. So more delays. So upset with the entire experience. Seeking a different practice for help.

However, Dr Ahn failed to mention all possible treatments by medication and did not mention minimally invasive surgery options. He only recommended the procedure he was able to do, and he seemed to push that, even though the side effects are typically quite severe and permanent.
