I am in California, but I needed some help with some property in PA. Specifically, property related to probate and wills and stuff. Fun times to try and do from the other side of the country. Not. I reached out to Steven here on Yelp, because Yelp always helps me find great people and companies, and he did not disappoint. I liked his reviews and his website seemed like he knew exactly how to help me. Something about attorneys, you always want to work with someone who specializes in the area of law that you need. I once got some very bad legal advice from an attorney who didn't know anything about family law, so trust me on this friends, even if you are reaching out clear across the country to someone you've never heard of, it is better that your buddy's wife's best friend's husband who is an attorney - and he can probably just "help you out." Don't do it. Talk to an expert. It will be cheaper than fixing bad legal advice. Let me be your warning. But anyway, back to this review, shall we? So I reached out to Steven and gave him all of the jumbled mess of a situation we were presented with. He had a really long intro phone call with us to get more information and to let us know what documents we needed to get ahold of to figure out our problem. I was a paralegal in a previous life, but these were things that I'd never heard of because this wasn't the area of law I worked in. So we set off, armed with the homework of tracking down some stuff to figure out how to proceed. And we did. And we booked Steven for an hour. He reviewed our stuff and spent the entire hour working everything out with us, guiding us on what we should do tax-wise that would not only help us but help others who are impacted by our situation. He answered all of our questions and then some. And he was a pleasure to speak with. And he didn't treat me like a moron when I asked what the heck a cost basis was, because yeah, this isn't my area of expertise. After we got off the phone with him, we felt not only confident that we got the right information to help us proceed, but that we secured the documents we need to include this property into our estate when the time comes due. I've never needed to procure the services of an attorney before and really wasn't sure what to expect. I will admit, though, I kind of did wonder if he'd be stiff and dismissive about my situation which I felt reflected my ineptitude regarding taxes and financials. I was more than a little embarrassed that I had waited almost a year to get representation to help me stand up to the IRS over a presumed tax deficiency they issued me. Steven Fromm was, simply, awesome. He greeted me with an open and friendly manner which put me immediately at ease. His demeanor never wavered even as we reviewed together my documentation which was well organized by me but also revealed my original passiveness about the situation. However, Steven assured me that the IRS was acting incorrectly and I should have not have to pay. He decided to take action immediately and call the IRS and, wow, was he impressive. He actually, finally, reached an agent and Steven was professional but very direct providing a compelling argument that highlighted the inappropriate handling of my situation by the IRS. He stated the IRS was, simply, wrong in their assessment and needed to remedy the situation quickly. The agent listened, reviewed information Steven quickly faxed her, and ultimately agreed my case had been mishandled by the IRS all along. She even apologized! At the end of a whirlwind 90min I was left feeling more empowered and actually hopeful this may be quickly resolved in my favor. I'm still working on the matter but now, because of Steven, things are finally in motion. I have secured an IRS Tax Advocate (strongly recommended by the agent) and was advised the matter may be resolved by September. Whichever way this goes, I'll at least know I chose the best tax attorney in Philadelphia to stand up for me and ensure I was no longer ignored. I wouldn't hesitate seeking out Steven again for any financial matter best served by an attorney Update September 2018: I won my case and the IRS returned all of my money...with interest. read more

This jerkoff told me to come here and write a 5 star review. Short version - I explained to Steven that I wanted to investigate entering a payment plan for my tax debt. He told me that I wouldn't qualify for an installment payoff and I should just pay the full amount. Now he told me he was doing me a favor and giving me free legal advice (nevermind that most firms give at least an initial free consultation) Then he says I should pay it forward by coming here and giving him a five star recommendation (hey dummy "paying it forward" means doing something nice for someone else not you). Ordinarily I wouldn't take the time to write a bad review but in this case I felt the need to let everyone know about his poor service and at the most deceitful and least ignorant information. Advice to everyone research on the web the best solution for yourself contact at least three different attorneys and decide for yourself. I am a new attorney practicing in Allegheny County--the opposite side of the state from Attorney Fromm. Attorney Fromm and I have never personally met, but recently I contacted him to guide me through a legal issue for a client because, judging from his credentials and reviews, I was confident he could point me in the right direction. Attorney Fromm did not have to take my call, but he did, and I must say that his reputation as an expert estate and tax attorney precede him well. I think most attorneys would have shrugged off a young attorney calling in to their office asking for guidance (especially one they did not know); however, Attorney Fromm patiently and kindly answered my questions and alleviated any uncertainties I had. There is no question that what Attorney Fromm did on my behalf was a rarity for our profession. He was professional and knowledgeable, and I cannot imagine that he is anything less with his clients. Surely, if other attorneys can rely on Attorney Fromm's advice, client's should feel comfortable and confident in doing so.
