Basically I'd really needed to see an ENT since college when I started getting intermittent tonsil infections. They've subsided considerably since I left the cesspool of germs that is a university dorm, but from time to time I get weird sore throats, and as a singer this is troubling. I made an appointment with Dr. Park based on nothing more than his proximity to my apartment (and his acceptance of my insurance), but the treatment and diagnosis I got was nothing short of life-changing. Based on a endoscope, and a few questions, Dr. Park figured out what was causing my sore throats and gave me practical, simple things to change about my lifestyle that would help. He didn't rush to medicate me, he took time to hear my concerns and questions, and really gave me some great insights into how to keep my throat healthy. Also, his office is run entirely with Macs. Dr. Park is a really smart ENT. He writes books/newsletters too. I've visited him atleast twice to clear out my ear drums, and it's a breeze every time. When you make an appointment, you actually see him at that time, and the office is never too busy so you're in and out. He gave me some lifestyle tips on how to clear what I thought was a sinus infection (apparently everything looked fine). I trust the expert to tell me that there is no huge problem. He is an expert on sleeping and breathing right as well. After the visit, I got newsletters in the mail, and even got a coffee mug. Who doesn't love free door prizes? The office is spacious and clean, just how a doctor's office should look like, and right in the heart of Columbus Circle. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. read more

Steven Park is hands down the best ENT I've been too. He got to the root of my breathing and sleep issues, went above and beyond in following up with me and provided in a timely manner all materials needed for a medical claim I submitted, and I found him to be compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. I highly recommend him and although I now live in another state, I would honestly travel to see him for any ENT related issues; he made that much of a positive impression on me via his in-depth knowledge and bedside manner. He also was referred by a myofunctional therapist who works with patients with breathing issues/ jaw misalignment. He clearly has a great reputation among health professionals, and for good reason. Based on the other reviewers' comments, I was so hopeful going into this appointment that Dr. Park would be able to help me with a strategy for improving many long-term, interconnected symptoms. Unfortunately, what I found was a moderate wait in his clean, professional waiting room (where his staff is excellent -- very friendly and well-trained), followed by a lackluster visit with a doctor who seemed to be more of a salesman. Once he had assessed my problems (and concurred with what I already presumed -- that they are all interconnected and based on a few root causes), he proceeded not to tell me what exactly to do about those root causes and continued to insist that I buy his book. "Once you read the book, you won't do that anymore" was a recurrent phrase -- about eating late, about watching television before bed, etc. I kept thinking, "Yes, okay -- I've read about these things before. What is your great insight here?" but I pressed on in the hope that he'd be able to help. However, as I continued to ask questions, trying to isolate next steps, he continued to point me back to the book, and eventually talked about surgery options, while poking at my face with an ordinary [capped] pen. In my opinion, the onus is on the doctor to explain the pertinent issues to the patient. Referring them to a book is a cop-out and referring them to your own book is crass. Bottom line, you shouldn't give this review any more weight than the other two just because it didn't work out for me, but I will tell you that the doctor actually asked me to recommend him on Yelp, so my presumption is that he asks everyone to do the same. If you had a concrete problem that could be cleared up in a single visit, Dr. Park may be a wonderful doctor, as the two previous reviews indicate, but he was certainly not the right fit for me. Incidentally, the day after my appointment, I found myself with the most heinous nose infection I've ever had, which naturally could've just been irritation, but I always wonder how clean an endoscope is. read more

I visited Dr. Park several years ago for sinus problems. He was very personable, listened carefully to my symptoms, and then indicated that my problem was sleep apnea. He suggested various non-drug-based solutions (not eating several hours before going to bed, avoiding acidic foods, etc.). The suggestions were probably good for my health, but they didn't help my sinus problems. I have subsequently received Dr. Park's emails for the past several years in which he indicates that sleep apnea is the root cause of many health problems. My visit to Dr. Park, the years of emails that I have received from his office, and the other Yelp reviews have left me with the impression that Dr. Park is overly eager to diagnose patients with sleep apnea and to ignore other problems. His approach to sleep apnea reminds me of the saying: "when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Park. I was at first a bit cautious after seeing some of the negative posts and was waiting to be pitched his book at my appointment, but it never happened. Dr. Park was very thorough in his examination and in explaining what the problem was - not only for my ear but also inflammation he found in my nose and throat due to my allergies among other things - which was right on the mark. I have seen other ENT's prior in my life and I would say Dr. Park is definitely one of the better ones I've met. Now, this may only be incidental given I do live in the city, but I woke with a cold the next morning. I didn't go anywhere else that day I can only but wonder if it was the cleanliness endoscope. This office is shared by a number of Dr.'s so I don't think it should reflect negatively on him. Generally the office was very clean. read more

I admit I am surprised at some of the rave reviews. I have been dealing with sinus problems for a few years now and I am still on the search for a good ENT. During my visit, all he really did was try to sell me his book, which seems to be what he does for everyone. Dr. Park, medical issues are not "one size fits all". I want my copay back. read more

I'm sure Dr Park is qualified. I'm sure he knows a lot about the throat. But, he just wants to sell you his book. I went in because I was having issues with a sore throat that lasted longer than it should have. He asked, "are you having trouble sleeping?" I said that I slept very well whenever I wanted (I can fall asleep very easily) and he proceeded to tell me about how I would feel better after I got better sleep...? I then asked him a couple other questions to which he directed me towards sleep again without explaining anything. It didn't really help me so I was disappointed (I did follow his advice just to give it a try). read more

Dr Park was very informative. I learned more about my condition in one visit with him than I had learned in my whole life. He had to move pretty quickly because of patient load but that's all doctors these days. It will help if you look up info on his website ahead of time. Read about your condition so you will better understand what he says and know what questions to ask. The receptionist was no-nonsense but not unkind and was very helpful in person. Be prepared to get to the point when you call and know that they might not say goodbye at the end. The young man who took my vitals was very kind. That's the only staff I had dealings with. Dr. Park mentioned his book once to me but if you have sleep disordered breathing it might be a book you'll want on your shelf and its not overly expensive on amazon. So I did not mind that. I almost didn't go because of the reviews but I'm very glad I did. Some of the reviews are older so things have improved since then. If you want a spa experience don't go to this doctor. But if you want to improve your sleep apnea or UARS dramatically and understand what causes it, and what it does to your body, then I highly reccomend this doctor. You are looking at an expert in Dr. Park. Don't miss out. read more

While I agree it is hard to get an appointment and you may have to wait for a while in the waiting room , once you get in to see the doc, you will realize it was worth the hassle. He is extremely knowledgeable and he listens and explains everything. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients. He is adamant about exhausting every option before resorting to surgery. If you do need surgery He is familiar with all of the latest surgical techniques. I Highly recommend Dr Park to anyone who suspects they have sleep related breathing difficulties. He is an expert in sleep apnea, upper airway resistance (fatigue) and snoring, the causes and various non-invasive treatments and surgical options. He will even refer you to other doctors and dentists for different possible treatments. He has changed many peoples lives through his treatments. As for other ENT related (non sleep related) problems I cant personally attest to his abilities, but he seems extremely knowledgeable physician in many areas as well.
