They carry unique, high end boards that you wouldn't find at the vail-owned rental shop at the base. They were helpful and the rental process was so smooth and easy. I've both rented and purchased snowboard equipment from Steven's Pass Snowboard Shop and it's my preferred shop to buy equipment from (unless I'm shopping online). The staff is very friendly and laid back, as to be expected from the culture, so it fits the vibe. They seem fairly knowledgeable on a variety of different equipment setups/uses and the pass itself. They gave me a decent setup when I did a season rental and gave me the option to swap out gear. They also setup my first board (that I bought from the shop) and has a decent sale/deal going on that helped buying my equipment relatively painless. I usually stop by this shop 2-3 times per season to see what's in stock, service my board, etc. read more

Good place to visit but make sure to have your gear ready as rentals are about an 45 min away (closest). Also day and night pass prices change depending on a crowd so might get a better deal in person rather than online. Would be more helpful if they had guys checking the path from time to time as I saw a lot guys just sitting there for quite a while and pretty bad falls. My teen reserved a beginner ski package ($55) but when she showed up she ended up in a demo package($75). She was a brand new skier, and blew her knee out first run b/c the setting was on a 5. Boot didn't pop out on the fall. Negligence on the person who set her up in a ski with a setting for a more advanced skier. The bait and switch on price was also wrong. The guys here are really sweet and friendly. They are always willing to help and talk to you about your snowboard needs. We've come here for gear and now for repair as well. Every experience has been great, but this time was the best because of Girl! She's the shop dog (I didn't know she existed until today) and omg I nearly passed out from excitement. Conveniently located along Highway 2, SPSS is hard to miss. What's great about this place is that you can pick up some rental ski equipment before you get to the top thus avoiding some lines. We walked around the store a little bit. It's a bit cramped, but I think it's because they have a pretty good amount of stuff. My buddy bought his Burton ski jacket here and he felt that he got a pretty decent deal. Previously he had been shopping at some other stores in Seattle, so I was surprised that he found something that wasn't carried elsewhere -- and I have yet to see anybody else where on the mountain. read more

I seem to stop here every time I go to Stevens. Lost gloves, forgotten hats, broken bindings, maybe just a little wax. A buddy who doesn't own their own gear. Whatever. The thing I love about the shop... It's so laid back. You know that everyone in the shop is a boarder. And they're chill and friendly. A little story: Last season, I was returning from a particularly wet day on the mountain, and my clothers were soaked. I stopped in to see if I could find something fresh to change into. I bought a hoodie from the shop at a major discount. (Love me some last year's gear...) Unfortunately, being fried from a long day of boarding, I left my jacket at the shop, and didn't notice until I got home. I called the shop and got the stoned seeming boarder dude running the shop. "Hey, I was in earlier, and I think I may have left my jacket at your shop." "Oh... right... Did you have a pack of cigarettes in your pockets?" (a little perplexed) "Yeah..." "I'll set it aside for you." "Thanks." "And don't worry, dude... I won't smoke your cigarettes." --For some reason, I really loved that last bit. A week later, I returned to the shop to retrieve my jacket, and the same guy was working. When I told him I was there to pick up my jacket, he gave it to me, and made a point of letting me know my cigarettes were safe. Rock on, boarder dude. I have been driving by this little shop for 15+ years each season I drive to Stevens. Last week was the first time I stepped into this shop since I left my SB boots in Los Angeles and needed to buy another pair. The genteleman was very helpful and found some inexpensive boots that fit me well. They were the older Burton boots that wasn't the BOAs. They were the older winding kind. After driving up to Stevens' and after getting my boots tight and in my bindings, I went on my first run. The left boot was starting to get loose so I tighten it. It became loose again and my foot popped out of boot. I decided to call it a day after only 1 run and went back to the shop. My day was ruined. I went direct back to the shop and the nice gentleman said he didn't see anything wrong with the boot and even tried to loosen them up with his bare hands. I told him that the force of my leg and gravity is stronger than his hands. I'm not 100% sure he understood, because he tried to show me again how its not broken. I left the boots at the shop since a broken left boot is useless to me. I left my number for his manager Tony to call me back. I have since called 3 times and left 1 message and yet to hear from him. This is perhaps the worst customer service I have experienced. This happened on Jan 18th and in today's writing (Jan 26) I still yet to recieve a phone call. I have contacted my credit card company to resolve it a different way, but I'm hopeful that this message will find Tony. Otherwise, I would be very wary when you decide to pull over to this shop. If you do, pray that you don't have a problem. They will most likely ignore you. read more

I've stopped in a few times and have ALWAYS had a great experience. What a great location for a ski/snowboard/rental shop. Super convenient if you left your goggles or gloves at home, but don't want to turn around to go get them. SPSS always has your back if you leave any of these mountain necessities at home. I LOVE the selection of snowboard gear and apparel, including a healthy selection of base layers. I scored a super cute animal print ninja suit here that's perfect for car camping. Great place to stop if you need some gear on your way up to the mountain. Their prices are not the best you will find but they do have some pretty decent sales later in the season. They have a good rental department too where they will set you up with everything you need to shred- including a helmet! Pretty good selection of boards, boots, and bindings. They also have a ton of goggles to choose from. The people who work there are all boarders/skiers and they are usually pretty dazed when I stop in, but they do have some pretty solid advice from what I can tell. read more

Do not go here to have your board tuned or waxed. I stood in line for a half an hour for them to tell me that people renting boards and skis behind me were more important to their business schedule. And then asked me if I wanted to wax it myself on their table. Pretty laughable; do not go here during peak hours for any board service. read more

Stopped by to pickup some snowshoe rentals before heading out to Skyline Lake. The prices were comparable to places we've rented from before, in both Seattle and Whistler, at about $47/two pairs for full-day rentals. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, recommending snowshoes over XC skis for the trail we chose. I was heading out to Stevens Pass for a day of skiing with a couple of friends from out of town. They needed to rent skis and had no reservations at the mountain. We decided to head up and see if we could find a rental shop on the way. Driving through the east end of Gold Bar, we ran into Stevens Pass Snowboard Shop. They had some knowledgeable guys working in the rental department and explained some of the new technology behind the high performance demos. Everybody was very friendly and not intimidating at all. While waiting on my friends to get done with their paperwork, I inquired about a pair of gloves. The guy behind the counter handed me the pair that was best suited for my needs and gave me $10 off. They are the best gloves I have ever owned, and I would have paid twice the price for the performance I got. As far as clothing and gear, they are pretty limited, but it's a great place to stop in and rent or pick up some parts (binding straps etc.). They also have an espresso bar in the shop, which makes the rest of your drive to Stevens that much better. The staff at SPSS knows what they are talking about and are very friendly. I had a great experience at SPSS! I stopped in with my vintage board after researching local choices on a Wednesday. No lines, immediate service, friendly knowledgeable staff! I left with a tuned up board, they set me up with a smokin' deal on some "last season" Burton boots and bindings-that I LoVe! They worked with my budget and I never felt intimidated...as a female...asking questions and trying on boots. Girl Friendly atmosphere ladies!!
