I have became a good customer of theirs after driving to Crossroads and seing other 2 stores weren't the same Customer Service speaking. This store is much more smaller but filled with interesting and quality stuff. I love their flower selection. It is seasonal and quality like no other. What also brings me here is the knowledgable staff by the Frame area. They gave us good advice when framing. Regarding matching colours, weight, reflection of the glass, etc. It is an investment so better be prepared. Parking wasn't a problem unless you want to park very near. read more

Attention all paper crafters! If you haven't checked out the insane selection of paper and embellishments in this place then you're missing out! I could've shopped all day and I would still be saying "five more minutes!" They have patterned paper grouped together with all kinds of stickers and embellishments that compliment each other perfectly, so insanely helpful. They carry the best brand of card stock in my opinion, American Crafts. It's hard to find the variety packs and they have like 5 to choose from. They have tons of adhesive and die cuts, lots of stamps and stickers. Everything is high quality. I got a few things with bright orange price tags, indicating a clearance price so that was cool. This place never disappoints me. I live in the Seattle area but every chance I get to come to Monroe I stopped at Ben Franklin. They have unique items, gifts, and lots of craft items. Some things are pricey but I always manage to find something for myself that I feel is a good price. The paper for card making is the best hands down anywhere!! They would not allow me to wear the mask I brought from home. I have a medical exception to mask-wearing in general, but I do have one mask that I can wear in a pinch (for a very limited amount of time) that will not exacerbate my condition. They turned me away. Though they did offer curbside pick-up, I would rather spend my money elsewhere, as this is the first and only place that has ever turned me away for wearing my mask Update: Thank you for your response. Per my review, I WAS wearing a mask when they turned me away. Also, have you tried using your website for curbside pickup...? It's an absolute nightmare(or it was at the time of my visit, because I did try to use it before I drove in) and it's frankly insulting to medically discriminate and then try to claim a barely functioning website is a passable alternative. read more

The first time I visited, I was assisted by Jodee at checkout and she was very friendly and helped me sign up for a Rewards Card! I do a variety of crafting, so it'll definitely be beneficial to me over time! Today was my second visit there and I didn't even realize it was customer appreciation day! They had coffee and cake! Upon entry they give you a slip to enter a drawing to win a $500 gift card! Also, everyone $10 you spend you get an additional entry! Needless to say, I entered quite a few times! Awesome! I love love love this store. They are always well-staffed. I can always find someone to help me and they do so enthusiastically and with great knowledge of their inventory. Even when check out lines get long on the weekends, they move quickly. On a recent trip I was looking for supplies and ideas for my son's upcoming llama-themed birthday party. From the first "are you finding everything ok?" request til I left the store loaded up with great supplies, the staff here went out of their way to make sure I saw everything llama-related that could help me throw an unforgettable birthday party. Using their amazing die-cut machines, I was able to craft two custom birthday banners for my son. And yes, they even had a llama die-cut! I'm honestly shocked that all craft stores don't have these handy-dandy machines. They're simple machines for cutting shapes (letters, numbers, animals, etc) out of paper. They can take your science fair project, your scrapbook page, your 4-H project, from ok to wow so simply. The only cost is the cost of the paper. The machines are free for customers to use. This store is very well laid-out with ideas at every turn. My advice to anyone is to allot extra time for browsing when you come here because there are treasures at every turn. I recently went back after my big llama-haul just to cut a few more letters and found the most adorable alpaca erasers in the check out line. Score! Those little cuties are going in the goodie bags for my son's party. They have décor, fabric, jewelry-making supplies, die-cuts, stickers, every kind of paper you could want, glitter, glues, stamps, felt, yarn, fancy duct tape, walls and baskets of ribbon, cute little signs like "but first, coffee", gift ideas, trinkets, calendars, frames, poster board, games and the list goes on.....a true crafter's paradise with a little something for everyone. read more

I love this store! I used to shop here every week when I lived in Snohomish County. I recently stopped here after visiting an old friend in the area. It is like a fix going in here! The yarn selection and sales are pretty addicting! I learned knitting from Barbara at classes at this store! A crafter's paradise for sure. They have fabric, notions, an incredible bead department, home decor, furniture, framing, flowers, yarn, all hobby stuff, toys and more. I like this store because they have different stuff than Michaels or JoAnns. At Christmas, they have the best ornaments etc....for your tree. After 15 minutes waiting for her to return from discussing Paint techniques I finally bought a plain frame. What could have been a 200 to 300 sales was 39.95. Our group was sucked into the space time continuum here, 2 and a half hours later we were launched back into the "real" world. Heck, I just wanted to get a replacement clock part for a wall clock I received as a gift that a cheap-@*$ friend of mine had given me. 7 bags later, a hit to my pocket book, well not that bad of a hit, we made it to the van to find out we had too much stuff. Needless to say, the oldest daughter had to hike home that night.... I kid, I kiiiiiid!!! Just a great store with some really friendly, smart staff members to help. For the countless school and craft projects around the house, Ben Franklin will have whatever we need. And the staff seem to be everywhere, asking if I need help - which I usually do. I really appreciate that they walk me to whatever it is I am looking for - just to make sure it will work. So much better than the typical, "...that's on aisle 6..." with the look of good luck. And the owner of this store - Adrian - does so much for the local community. I have heard about his photo matting workshops to help the youth get ready for fair, discounts to youth organizations, free use of the meeting rooms - and always will to consider doing more when asked. Me and my sisters went here for the first time in several years. We used to love this store when we were younger and chose to come back because of the good memories. This time however was an INCREDIBLY uncomfortable visit and more than likely won't be back again. Within the 30 seconds of entering the store we were greeted..totally normal and expected service. After about only 3 minutes in the store my other sisters went to the bathroom and the same woman approached me and my younger sister again offering help which again isn't completely out of the ordinary. What threw me off was the CONSTANT presence of someone watching me and my little sister just trying to look for different craft supplies. If there wasn't an employee down the aisle from me there was a loud "SECURITY CAN YOU MOVE CAMERAS TO SECTION 5 AND START RECORDING". Not only were they not inconspicuous about thinking me or my sisters were stealing but made my shopping experience incredibly uncomfortable and not one I'd ever want to experience again. I'm 21 and typically dress for comfort in a beanie and sweatshirts which can make me look less "put together" I suppose. I understand people will shoplift and there's times to be cautious. I am not one of those people and to be treated as though I am regardless makes me feel disgusted with this business. It feels being here if you are not an 45+ white adult woman....you're not trusted! I would also like to mention the same employee wandering the store CONVENIENTLY followed us over to the check out once we had finished and then stayed there. Originally I thought I may be over reacting until we got in the car and immediately my sisters erupted asking "what was with that lady following us?" and confirmed my observations weren't just my own. Fairly good selection on supplies but for the love of gob please DO BETTER about training your employees NOT to make your shoppers uncomfortable and constantly hovering and at that point maybe we can consider returning but for the time being me and my family will be steering clear of this business. read more

Those 2 truly saved the day for my friend and I - trying our damndest last minute to get very important and sentimental t shirts made to wear to a concert honoring my Mom. We walked in panicked and stressed after trying all night the day before to make them ourselves. Annie was nothing but compassionate and patient and did everything in her own power to help us. TJ had them done in an hour and they turned out perfect. Minutes before we had to leave for the show. They'll probably never know how they were the true heroes of this entire experience for us. I and many of our church members enjoy shopping at Ben Franklin in Monroe. Some of us knew the owner Adrian who passed away recently. Today was quite a disappointment and I am posting this review so others do not lose money, the disappointment of a product and finally find out they cannot return the item for a simple credit. This item is the gingerbread villages on sale for $12 and some change. I bought two for my grandson and only opened one. Normally this is a fun and easy craft. With this particular item the frosting came with no bag to squeeze out the frosting. Luckily I had my own. The frosting was either old or "defective." Over and over we tried using the frosting for the side walls and it failed. After 30 minutes, we moved onto another craft and never opened the second box. Upon returning the two boxes both the cashier and manager just said "sorry we don't take back food bought items". Lame and disappointing. I believe if Adrian was in the store or perhaps his son, I would have been offered some credit for the unopened and sealed kit. For all the money we have spent in that store as individuals and as church members here in Monroe, I think the manager could have been a little more willing to offer something. I walked out and said please put it in your garbage - won't work for me or my grandson. read more

I love Ben Franklin and usually I go to the one near my house. I make a ton of jewelry and wear a lot. I'm 20 years old and I was being followed around the store while I was shopping. Later as I was checking out paying for all my items the worker proceeded to follow me to the front talk to another coworker and stared at me. I'm a very non threatening looking girl and I was just in sweat pants so I'm not sure why I was being followed but it made my sister and I very uncomfortable. Kinda bummed. read more

Where do you find these people?? Ben Franklin Monroe is a customer service utopia. I have had previous, unfavorable experiences at the Redmond location. NOTE I was educated today these stores are franchised, and the owners in Redmond are not affiliated with the Monroe location. I stopped in to pick up some hand made looking Seahawks signs, but the creative juices started to flow. Instead of paying $29.99, why not make something on my own. I settled on a 12's candy jar that I would fill with green and blue Jelly Bellys. I was looking for the number 12.. but no luck. I asked a team member and she takes me to an option. When I advised I preferred a different color, she suggested thier media department could make one for me and took me to the department. What??? How awesome is that? You have a media department? ( FYI Redmond employees will never take you to an item, or provide awesome solutions) The media department is top rate. They are cautious not to print anything that could be copy written, but wow they will find some clever solutions. I saw so many excellent ideas, they even make custom bottled water labels.. clever! I don't remember the name of the media art woman, but she was young and wore ruffle socks. She was a Rockstar in the media department. I started to feel bad when I said I could not come back after her lunch break. Nonetheless she took care of me, and still had a delightful customer first attitude. I also greatly appreciated this young woman's clarity about costs. I left with 3 pieces of art for $9.00. What a deal! Moving on to checkout was a pure Beaver cleaver moment. I think her name started with a J, but I do recall her name tag saying floral. I'm not sure if they were focusing on email sign ups, but I would have given the sweetest woman in the world any info she had asked for. She provided insight into what I would receive If I created an account, told me about contests and reminded me not to let the invite go to spam. Yes, this sounds so ordinary, but the way she spoke to me was like I was her only customer all day. I literally left the store thinking huh, Monroe...the place to go for Wa states best customer service. Kudos to this store and thier customers first attitude. Yes the prices are a little higher, but you can also find great deals during sales. Very rare this day and age to find such extraordinary service. Been going to Ben Franklins for over 30 years now. The prices are a little higher but when you think of having to drive into Everett it's worth the stop! They have a wonderful variety of things and often times better than the bigger stores like Michaels. Wish they carried more Cricut supplies though. I was greeted right away by a very kind lady who went above and beyond to help me find the perfect frame for an antique magazine I bought for my husbands birthday. This store makes me very happy we moved to Monroe! I love these guys, they are great. The staff is helpful and friendly, and they have absolutely EVERYTHING! Whenever I have a little home project, I head to Ben Franklin first. I made my daughter a special bracelet, knit her a hat, sewed some lovely curtains for my lower open cabinets, and Christmas! Love shopping here and supporting local business. They have a die cutter that you can use for free if you purchase the paper or fabric you want to cut.
