Why not ask up front instead of berating an honest mechanic after the fact. The "anti-skid" light illuminated on my wife's Volvo XC. We took it to the dealer and we were quoted $3,546.27 minimum and $4,285.19 if another module needed to be replaced. (the "clock spring" module) I did some research and then called Andy. The entire job including parts, fuse, differential oil, labor and taxes was done for $727.27. We also were out of town and had known Andy for may years. We were so pleased to pay 487.5% less for a great job well done. I then went back to the dealer and they very quickly and quietly reimbursed me $147.33 to the charge to the wrong diagnoses.
