I have been going to Steve's for over 10 years and am a 40 year Port Washington resident. Steve's is the best place for a quality no nonsense hair cut. All the barbers do excellent work, are courteous and friendly and get you in and out. True old school barber with hot towel, etc, you can get any style and when you tell the barber what you want, they do cut your hair exactly as you asked. The owner Steve is a great guy who really takes pride in his shop. Prices are also extremely reasonable. If you want a great cut at a true barber shop, in Port Washington you go to Steve's on Main Street. I never do ratings but holy shit this place is awful. Stay away! I asked him for a fade and he gave me a 2 on top then an abrupt 1. No fade very clear lines. I had to make him redo it 4 times and it still came out horrible. Then! I asked him to line up the front. OMFG I'm so angry right now, he receded my hair line a whole inch! Got 3 haircuts here and 2 of them sucked. Kept getting the guy in the back, David I think? Anyway the last haircut he joke about shaving my head so I think he knew he fucked up. When I first moved to the neighborhood a few years ago I went to a bunch of different barber shops trying to find the one. Finally Steve gave me the perfect cut. I've been going there ever since. I tried several places in Port when I first moved into town and none we more professional & detail oriented than Steve. Always takes his time with your cut and makes sure your looks great. No better haircut around. My father and I started going here when Steve first opened up shop. We were one of his first customers. Steve gives a phenomenal hair cut and listens to everything I say and how I want it cut. As my style preferences have changed as I've gotten older, Steve has accommodated all of them and I have yet to find a better haircut, even in the five years I lived away from Port Washington. Too little too late. The worst customer service I have ever experienced at a barbershop. Called ahead and was told to come in immediately because they apparently weren't busy. I walked in the door 5 min later and all chairs were filled, no one greeted me, i hung my coat up, read magazines for 5 to 10 minutes and still no one said a word to me. I continued to take my coat off the hanger and walk out and to my amazement 2 out of the 3 barbers started talking to me... "this guy is almost done", "you are next" etc.... I continued to walk out. Never will I go to this place again. I was waiting in line when a new barber opened up, I said I was waiting for Steve, yet Steve insisted upon me using Dimitri, he was "good." Dimitri kept asking about my sex life, then I asked him to fade my beard in, he fucked that up. My mustache? Crooked. I noticed on my drive home, turned around to have him fix it. Worst haircut I've gotten in years. The guy completely ignored how I asked him how to cut my hair. The sides are fine but he completely butchered the top of my hair, all he did was go to TOWN on it with thinning scissors (which I did not ask him to do) and trimmed it much shorter than I told him to. My hair can barely be styled, and the lengths are completely uneven. I've had better luck at chain salons. read more

Been coming here since I moved to Port almost three years ago. Although it may sound simple, the consistency is top notch. I always walk out with a great cut. They start with the clippers then line me up with a straight razor, and wrap up with a hot towel and neck massage - makes me feel top notch after a long week at the office.
